New Queen songs and updated Queen songs (Under Pressure!). I guess this is a pack I will have to suck it up and pay the upgrade cost for.Harmonix posted:Queen Extravaganza Pack 01

gently caress yes, Queen. And gently caress yes, Hammer to Fall. Edit: Nice to get some of the lesser known stuff, too. I'd love to see something from Queen II eventually.

800 points for the "enhanced pack". Urgh. I'm not sure I like the way they're doing these "RB3 versions", thats a lot of points if you bought the pack originally. It's beyond an impulse purchase. 400 points and you're talking. Whaddya say, Harmonix?

Great news or GREATEST news? I gotta buy more points, again. Rock Band 3 has had nothing but excitement every week. And we get Billy Joel soon too? Doesn't Harmonix realize I have to go Christmas shopping?!

MacBook Air Gamer posted:Why the hell did they not combine We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions for this pack, damnit Because then you'd have to play We Will Rock You on instruments other than harmony vocals ever. So don't get me wrong, I loving love Queen, but if you already own the Lego RB export and bought Queen 01 as a pack, it looks like you're going to have duplicate (RB3 version)s for every single one of these songs. This offends my delicate OCD songlist sensibilities. Also, why the hell isn't this "Queen 02" instead of the kind of lame "Queen Extravaganza 01"? EDIT: While I'm bitching about stuff, no harmonies for Fat Bottomed Girls is a bit of a downer, too. pksage fucked around with this message at Dec 3, 2010 around 15:17 |

The only song I would buy a duplicate of would be Cool For Cats (RB3 version).

I am going to be that guy and say that is a pretty disappointing selection of new Queen songs (outside of Tenement Funster), and I really am wondering now if there is a Queen RB on the way and their saving the better songs for that. I will still buy all of them and probably the upgraded pack because I have no self control.

So it definitely is looking like it is a bad idea to purchase pre-RB3 DLC now. I'm glad I didn't decide to buy any Queen songs a few weeks ago when I picked up RB3.

I'm not buying any updates ever and I'm not even getting the new Queen songs because there's updates in the pack. I'm a big fat baby.

Asnorban posted:What about the 5 songs that are new? Sorry, I was kinda vague. I was contrasting to the Bon Jovi upgrades, where you can at least delete one of the originals (Wanted Dead or Alive). For this, all of the upgraded tracks will be duplicates, since you can't delete individual songs from the Lego export or Queen 01. It's really not a big deal, I just hate to 1-lighter the original versions and possibly impact Harmonix's metrics to prevent duplicates in Random Song. Solution: Queen is awesome, play both versions! And re: the new songs: I'm quite happy with all of these choices, but particularly Now I'm Here and Play the Game. Clearly they are saving Don't Stop Me Now for RB4!

Wouldn't give a poo poo about upgrades or whatever if I could delete the originals for on-disc songs without having to delete the whole download (I'm looking at you We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions)

Even though I wish I could simply update the original Queen pack/Lego songs I already own, I will still buy this - Queen is great, and this is a fantastic incentive for more songs to get the keyboard/pro treatment.

I'll echo the probably-common opinion - I love the new tracks, I love that some of them have the Pro Guitar upgrades, I hate that I need to pay full price to upgrade the songs I've already bought for harmony/keyboard. Here's a solution Harmonix: do like Microsoft's been doing recently, and if someone buys all of both packs, give them a 400 point refund or something. If that's possible, then it's the least painful solution.

As awesome as a Queen RB would be, with the current state of the industry, Harmonix's position as a company, and the lackluster reception to and (presumably) sales of Green Day RB, I wouldn't count on it. If these packs both sell well, though, I wouldn't be surprised by a Queen 03. Er, excuse me, a "Queen Extravaganza 02".

While we're complaining about tiers, have the RBN tiers been shifted for RB3? I thought someone said that RBN songs were literally rated on the 0/6 scale instead of given a relative "hardness" number that is used to determine tiers for all other RB songs. In RB3 it looks like RBN songs can't be impossible anymore. This throws Headed For The Ditch so hilariously out of place. Also why was "Through Being Cool" tiered up from Apprentice to whatever's above that, on bass only?

RBN songs used to be basically as low as possible in the Impossible tier, now they're just fairly high in the Nightmare tier. They've acknowledged that they're aware of the issue but um yeah. I have no idea how the gently caress that got missed in QA.

I would guess that the 0-6 number was converted to the equivalent cutoff for RB2, and the Impossible cutoff in RB2 was lower than the RB3 cutoff.

I could see a Queen: RB that might be more of a combination of a track pack and a full band game with it containing a lot of new tracks but also pulling some of the better songs from previous disc/DLC releases (like Bohemian Rhapsody). But, yeah, at this point, with the state of the genre and Harmonix changing hands, they may very well have scrapped it and will just do a few big DLC releases instead.

I have to echo some of the fussing over duplicate songs in my track list, but because this is loving Queen, I just might fork over the $8 necessary to buy the remaining songs from the first pack over again.

I know that they're probably not the best songs out there but I keep hoping for the Midnight Riders songs for PS3 because I love L4D. I wonder if they're never going to come out because of the 3 consoles L4D is only on Xbox and I thought it was one of the more popular downloaded songs. Well here is to hoping?
