Egbert Souse posted:It would be neat if we could get jazz artists like Dave Brubeck and Miles Davis. It would just take moving horns to guitar since the basic keys, bass, and drums are there. Take Five would be awesome. I'd love to see take 5, and perhaps Lalo Schifrin's Theme from Mission Impossible because they're in 5/4 time and Rock Band doesn't have enough tracks in odd time signatures.

CNN has an excerpt from a book about music games up as an article, entitled "The top 10 music games of all time". It paints the picture you'd expect and is positive toward all of the games involved, even if his research is a bit shaky: - Bar raping is frowned upon by experienced DDR players - RedOctane was solely responsible for GH1 - Rock Band 2 and 3 apparently don't exist (never mentioned in the RB entry) - Yoko Ono is a "hanger-on" - The drums in Beatles RB are really, really hard - A significant reason DJ Hero is good is because it's on clearance everywhere (...I actually can't argue with this one) Also, apparently printing costs are going through the roof, because the paperback version of this mostly-e-book is $25. Uh...

That article's about what I'd expect from someone who's just a general game-industry expert and not a specifically-music-game expert. Still, as people said, do your research.

They're not particularly hard but Ringo actually was a pretty unique drummer, his fills are pretty awesome by virtue of him being left-handed but playing on a right-handed kit

Then again, I'm not a good drummer.

I just wish I could play Pro Drums on The Beatles: Rock Band. It sucks that pirates with modded consoles who exported TB:RB tracks to RB3 can do it, but legitimate customers are left in the dust.

I'm still hoping against hope that one of the things Harmonix are working on is Beatles Rock Band 2, running on the RB3 engine, that will import all of the songs from 1 and add pro charts to them. It will never happen, but a man can dream...

The cymbals still register as the appropriate colored pad don't they? Are you just missing the little cymbal icons and the ability to play from within the RB3 client?

Those notes are probably on a tom instead of a cymbal, except of course the last green.

^^^ Hi-Hat open is generally on blue, as well, unless the entire backbeat is open. If it switches from closed to open for one or two hits, it's almost definitely blue cymbal.pksage posted:

Alakaiser posted:I can't pass I Wanna Be Your Man. To be fair, I Wanna Be Your Man and especially What Goes On are as tiring as they are because Ringo played the cymbals on them by swinging back and forth against them, which you cant really do on the drum controller since they are made of grippy rubbery stuff and also not cymbal shaped. You can play the really fast ride-snare patterns as L R (LR) R L R (LR) R, playing the first of every cymbal hit with your left hand. This is really easy if you've learned to lead with your left hand on occasion, which the Beatles Rock Band has done for a lot of fake drummers.

Well, just got my Wooden Strat replica. Problem is, its for 360, and I have a PS3. This controller board from an old busted PS3 guitar better work. Glad I have all weekend to work on it. And yes, I knew it was for 360 when I bought it. Anyone seen anything on the 'net where someone else may have chronicled any tips on how to mod this thing? I like a challenge, but I also get real lazy on the weekend.
