Drums only.

It's not mentioned in the text of the achievement, but all the achievements are just goals tied to achievements, and that goal falls under drum goals.

You know what's dangerous? Your obsession with me. Seriously, Lana, call Kenny Loggins, 'cause you're in the Danger Zone.

Wow. Just got back from EBgames Canada, and what a botched Canadian release. When I was told yesterday they wouldn't have the Mustang for me, I went around to all of the small gaming stores left around here (3 diff close cities), and each said EB pretty much had them blocked out of bundles until late November. So if I wanted it on launch, EB it was to be.

Well just got back, no bundles for any system until next Tuesday. Dont know if this holds true for Gamestop.ca orders as well? I was able to get a standalone keyboard and game for the same price though.

Now, the next problem - no preorder DLC. At least not til they get the shipment of cards (yes, still printed DLC cards up here ) They are hoping to have em tomorrow - and the guy will read the code to me over the phone. Haha, I'm going to make him sing it in tune with Bohemian Rhapsody which I plan on mastering on pro keys all of today (Righttt )

I was on a tear with those quotes so I guess to clarify, online stores say they're on sale, but from the previous thread, that seems to be a bit iffy. I haven't read specifically that people have been able to buy it in a store itself, so ymmv. So... technically it's out, but you probably won't be able to get it anywhere (but, call some stores... My order for the keyboard bundle has had a status of "Verifying" for a couple of days now, I think. No indication that it's going to ship today. Which EB did you go to? If they've got the kb/game separately on the shelves in stores I might wander over to one and cancel my gamestop.ca order.

I'm having trouble understanding the instrument combo limitations outlined in the OP.

quote:

Without all instruments mode you can only have 2 players be guitar/bass/keys. A 4 player band is required to have a singer and a drummer.
in particular. This doesn't make sense. There are no 3-player combinations?

Also you don't get a straight-up option to play keys with a guitar? If me and another guy are playing two player and a song has great guitar and keys and lovely bass we can't make a guitar-keys duet? What is the "goal" you have to achieve to make it an option?

And no don't say buy a keyboard, I have my own midi keyboard and I'm not going to spend an extra ~$80 just to play on a keyboard before the MIDI adapter comes out.

MIDI PRO-adapter compatibility

MadCatz put up manuals on their website for all the new Rock Band hardware, including one for the MIDI PRO-adapter. The manual includes a MIDI mapping table as well as a short list of drums and keyboards that work with the adapter.

They specifically tested these drums for the adapter: Roland HD-1, Yamaha DTXplorer, Yamaha DD65, and the Alesis DM5.

Really excited that I get to use my DTXplorer in RB3!!

You can turn on all instruments mode and only play with 2 or 3 people. It just gives you the option to use guitar/bass AND keyboard with harmonized vocals at the same time, where you don't have that option with regular mode.

If you mean through the marketplace website, I think the tracks are exclusive to the RB3 store to entice people to actually buy the game, but if you guessed ID codes enough you could in theory find the pack on the marketplace website. People have done that before to find a bunch of unreleased experimental RBN songs that you can buy.

So what is the recommended drum set to buy? I have been using a rock band 1 kit since, well, forever really. The pedal finally broke about a week ago, so I figured I would just get a new set when I got RB3.

I tried a rock band 2 kit, but I hate the pedal. It feels like it's pushing up against my foot too much, especially in comparison to the rock band 1 pedal, and it causes me to miss my bass hits. Is this how all of the new kits are? Should I just bite the bullet and get used to it?

Thus why I ordered from Gamestop USA. I received the keyboard last week and the game today. Shipping is faster than if I ordered from Gamestop Canada or Amazon.ca
Plus I got the code for the free DLC while they are still being printed for Canada.

Any kit beyond the RB1 kit is a pretty amazing improvement tbh. The pedal feels different because it's not 100% flimsy plastic. You'll get used to it. Bite that bullet.

You didn't actually. Licensed content across brands is just that.

But now I will leave it at the fact that everyone is paying $10.00 a shot to export music as a revenue stream for MTV games and it has nothing to do with licensing issues. With that said, it also has nothing to do with Harmonix and I like their games. Everyone can basically blame Viacom for this wallet shot.

In the end what we need are more privately held companies making video games. But this industry is moving more and more towards unfriendly consumer nickle and diming, and I guess it's either put up with it and keeping forking it over for less and less, or just stop playing them.

Anyone complaining about export stuff needs to remember that RB2 was still made before any exporting had actually happened. Pretty sure they didn't even have RB1 figured out until after RB2 was done and waiting to ship.

It's very easy to Monday morning quarterback it and say how they should have licensed things, but it's also very stupid. Nothing of this type had ever been attempted at the time they licensed the RB2 material, and the fact we're able to play as much as we can in a new game is pretty remarkable.

I preordered the ps3 bundle on gamestop.ca a few months ago and mine still says "Verifying" too and has ever since I placed the order. I called them last week and they said it looks fine on their end and didn't know why the web site claimed verifying.

I also preordered the mustang guitar in person at an EB in Burnaby and got my call last night that they have been delayed due to some issue. Possibly up to 2 weeks or something and they'll call back when they know more.

I thought I was having problems at first, but then I realized the beep wasn't coming through the center speaker like it did in my prior calibrations. Once I put my guitar in front of the left channel speaker it worked fine. Of course this is probably just because I didn't have Dolby Digital turned on this time.

Does the option for "overscan" have any negative effects? Seems pointless to not have the entire screen filled up, but I'm wondering if there's some practical reason why they always have the option available. I never realized dolby digital created vocal lag until recently, so I'm wondering if there's anything more to the overscan options that I'm not understanding.

The game crashes more than FO:NV for me. That's a bad thing.

Pro Keys is pretty hard but fun. I'm not really gelling with the tablature, which makes me wish they did somekind of "here's all the notes in the song, memorize them and then play it out" instead of relying on sight reading, and you can't (or atleast I haven't been able to figure it out), stop a song on a certain section to examine notes.

Just small gripes though.

Also Utnayan works for like 2K or something, so he's pretty knowledgeable in liscencing rights also. Obviously not as much as CptUnderpants, but to call him a "idiot" is pretty dumb.
