It's crashing cause of my own stupidity and a 5 year old Xbox, not because of the game. It does crash on the sorting option, which is inexcusable, but most of the crashes are because of the hardware. What are some good guitar songs to play on keys? So far, Cold Rain & Snow is my favorite. Is there a separate leaderboard for playing guitar on Keys, because that's saying i'm in 4th and I got like...3 stars on it.

I'm not really gelling with the tablature, which makes me wish they did somekind of "here's all the notes in the song, memorize them and then play it out" instead of relying on sight reading, and you can't (or atleast I haven't been able to figure it out), stop a song on a certain section to examine notes. I am not sure if there is a way to jump from a song to 'Learn a Song' mode, but you can examine just sections in "Learn a Song". It is pretty handy / neat.

And I'm sure Utnayan knows poo poo about licensing, but I still think music licensing is a lot trickier, especially when you're talking about licensing music for multiple games over a 3 year period when you have a rival out who specifically tries to counter your licensing with their own.

Ugh no go for me. Went to three Gamestops and a Target, Target had nothing at all, and Gamestops just the game. One had keys but I only want the keys now if the Pro Guitar is unreleased. The Gamestop employees didn't even know there WAS a Pro Guitar, and when they looked it up each gave me a different release date, ranging from November 16th at the earliest to 24th at the latest. This suuuuucks I want to play Pro guitar.

Wii notes: There are issues with keyboard distribution in the US at least, but they're out there; I found one at Best Buy. Has anybody had any luck finding the keyboard (Bundle or not) in Canada? I searched for an hour without any luck (southern Ontario), and couldn't find the keyboard, just the game, and now all the online stores are out of stock. Goddamnit.

As for the licensing discussion, here's the gist of what I feel comfortable in explaining. "Master use" rights let you use the specific final recording of a song. "Synchronization" rights let you use the music in connection with visuals. Neither of these specifically covers the multi-track stems Rock Band needs, just the "final" song, which would suffice for a licensed soundtrack like I assume Utnayan was talking about semi-boneheadedly. All these rights, permissions, and files are often scattered amongst every party involved in the song's release. While the record label is nearly always in possession of some of the necessary rights, they can also be (and often are) needed from publishers, distributors, and the band itself as well. It's all extremely dependent on the artist and their contracts, both existing and previous if the work in question under different circumstances. In short, for artists that aren't self-released it's a giant loving mess and don't trust anyone claiming an absolute authority over its understanding, because they're there biggest dipshit this side of... well, you know.

You don't HAVE to use a thumb, it makes things extremely more complicated, but it's best to learn to use it, and if you don't like it after a while, drop it. Lots of musicians don't have all their fingers / motor skills and they did fine, a obvious example is Jerry Garcia.

Things I discovered last night: -The road challenges are fun, easy achievements. The options to play different sets of songs is nice. -I miss buying character gear with game money. I have to play all kinds of bass now to create a proper Bootsy Collins. It makes perfect sense, actually, but bleh.

When I learned to type I was told not to look at the keys but I did it anyway and now I have to do it all the time. Trying to avoid that whole fiasco with the musical keyboard.
