The bridge in the killing moon is pretty wtf on bass too. They don't even use that new tremolo picking feature to help you out

You know what I really want is some Genesis, especially Land of confusion. Also, we all know you guys have to be getting us some Vanilla Fudge. Don't tell me otherwise. Please don't even if it is true. And if the multitracks still exist, there's no reason not to have "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum. But I'm not sure of how many of their tapes from that era still exist, since their first album will never be in stereo because they don't most of the tapes.

I'm encouraged someone thinks expert pro keys is easy. That means it's not impossible to read these charts and I might actually get used to it. But man everything in this is hard. Reading the charts is hard. Finding your hand on the keys is hard. Three note chords are hard. Four note chords....don't even. Hitting the sharps/flats is hard. Dealing with the lane shifts is hard. It all comes together to create a thoroughly ball-busting experience that I haven't seen since trying to play on the higher difficulties in Ninja Gaiden 2 for Xbox360. I'm slowly getting bits and pieces of it though. I can pass more songs now and I find my fingers on the keys a bit easier. I could do the part in Killing Moon where you're going from the bottom to the top and not lose everything. And I passed Yoshimi. But these chords...man they're rough. Especially when they include sharps. I don't know if I'll ever be able to play Roundabout, but I hope that I am able to play these semi-competently at least some day.

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I just wanted some clarification. I already exported RB1 and Lego Rock Band into RB2. When I get to export all of these to RB3, do I have to redeem specific tokens for each game, or will I just export the whole thing at once as all DLC? PS3 in case it matters.

If I'm not making any progress on the pro keys lessons do you think I should keep working on where I'm stuck or go back to the earlier lessons? Is there anything in particular I should be paying attention to? Basically I'm up to the ones that are just "play a shitload of awkward chords" and I feel like I missed something that would prepare me for this.

You shouldn't have to export either of them, or any of the DLC; it will be automatically detected. If you've already imported everything to RB2 the only thing you'll have to do is import RB2 (the on-disc songs) to RB3.

They really should have done a better job with teaching you the harder chords, especially with the sharps and poo poo. After I got to the "hard lessons" I just skipping around the later lessons. The chords are rough and I'll be thrilled if I ever get them right. But the later lessons seem a little out of order at times to me.

Since there's keyboards now, can we get "Jizz in my Pants" ? edit: Tempo 119 posted:If I'm not making any progress on the pro keys lessons do you think I should keep working on where I'm stuck or go back to the earlier lessons? Is there anything in particular I should be paying attention to? I haven't checked out the lessons, but generally in music, it's the hard stuff that tends to develop your skills more than anything. That's why there's guys who get stuck knowing a few songs and chords, but they never do the hard parts of learning guitar and they don't really progress. So don't stick to the stuff you can breeze through if you want to get better(I suppose this applies to anything in life), if Pro keys are really like an actual piano, then that's valuable stuff you're learning. The key is that everything in there is evenly strummed if you take advantage of the hammer-on chord. Strum on 1, hammer on the extra note to hit the middle chord on 2, strum with that extra button fingered on 3, lift off the second button and get ready to do it again and again and again.

I still haven't got a keyboard so I can't comment on lessons but what is it that people would want it to tell about chords. I assume they do tell you to play with thumb on the lowest and pinky on the highest note and not with the common beginners mistake of trying to stretch them with 2, 3 and 4. If the trainer neglected to mention this, congratulations you have now been taught it all and the rest is just practice. (Okay sometimes 1-4 or 2-5 works better).

The dumbest keyboard question in the world: Okay, so I'm playing a chord that has those nasty flats and sharps in it, but there's a white note in there messing everything up. Is it a no-no to strike the white key up in the narrow part, closer to the back, between the flats and sharps, or should I contort my hand to make it work so I'm hitting the broadest part of the key in the center? I assume it's a no-no to put my thumb on the middle note of a chord, stretching/crossing my index finger over to hit a black key if it's lower than the white key. I only ask these seemingly asinine questions because I don't want to develop bad habits that I'll spend lots of time unlearning down the road. Hopefully I'm making myself clear.

Outside from RB1 is also a good song if you want to practice that kind of pattern, and the speed's a little more manageable than Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting.

Neither of these are no-nos, though the latter is used pretty sparingly. It is rather common to reach over your thumb with a pointer or middle finger to hit a lower note, particularly while moving down the keyboard.

I know it's asking a lot, especially considering we have Doolittle, and that obviously sold like garbage... but WE NEED MORE PIXIES. The worst part is, beyond Into The White, I can't even start to fathom what I want in the game. I can name Velouria, Dig For Fire, Something Against You, Caribou, Cactus, and Alec Eiffel off the top of my head, and that's about a quarter of the non-Doolittle songs on my iPod alone.

The Rock Band MIDI adapter adapts MIDI to your console of choice and converts it into controller inputs. It won't work on a Mac/PC.

It's been rumoured for ages (I think it was on some playtest leak years ago or something) and it's a pretty great introduction to bass or guitar. It's far from the first song I'd pick from them but I'll take what I can get (probably nothing).
