After playing Rock Band at my Aunt & Uncle's over Thanksgiving, my dad wants it for Christmas to play on their Wii. I'm having trouble finding the Rock Band bundles with the guitar, drumset and mic for Wii and I was wondering if the Guitar Hero bundles are compatible with Rock Band, namely this or this? Apologies if this is the wrong thread. I didn't see it anywhere in the OP. Edit: Well Harmonix says that it's compatible with nearly all versions of Rock Band for Wii while Activision says that's it's not compatible with Rock Band 1. Hmmmm. Dayne posted:Edit: Well Harmonix says that it's compatible with nearly all versions of Rock Band for Wii while Activision says that's it's not compatible with Rock Band 1. Hmmmm. GH instruments work in any of the RB games on Wii except the ones that use the RB1 engine (which is fine, RB1 on Wii was a shoddy PS2 port that should be avoided and the track packs just collect downloadable songs on a disc). GH instruments work fine in RB2, RB3, Beatles, Lego and Green Day -- with the caveat that GH drum kits are set up a different way than the RB drum kits. How much this bothers you will be a matter of personal preference, I played a GH drum kit in RB2 for like a year and was fine with it but much preferred the RB kit once I got one. GH kits also don't allow for the use of the Pro Drum mode introduced in RB3. RB3 "band in a box" bundles don't exist. I guess you can't find an RB2 bundle, probably nobody stocks them anymore. Look for a Beatles Rock Band bundle, they're cheap now and the drum and guitar controllers they come with are well-liked and it also includes a mic stand. Not to mention that the game is fantastic and an especially good choice for playing with older people around the holidays. Exception: Do not buy a "Value Edition" of the Beatles bundle, that comes with old, inferior RB1 instruments. You can also grab RB3 or whatever and use the same instruments. I would strongly recommend any of the RB options (except RB1) over any GH bundle because the games are far better, unless the people you'd be playing with have some insurmountable preference for one of those setlists.

They've supposedly been offloading Band Hero full-band bundles in mass quantities to Toys R Us in preparation for some holiday deal.

Just got a new Xbox to replace one that was stolen a while back, and while it's downloading updates and stuff I thought I'd ask if there is a "fast" way to re-download all the DLC songs I had purchased, or if I'll need to individually download all the albums/packs/tracks. Thanks.

This is part of the reason I loathe the day I ever have to get a new Xbox. Last time I got a new HD it took an hour, and that was just downloading licenses.

The Endless Setlist 3 took a lot longer than I thought it would. And I don't have a flashy microphone icon now. these are both disappointing to me. I could've just cheesed the gently caress out of it on easy.

The ES in RB1 & 2 always gave you a flashy icon as long as you didn't do it on easy. I tamborined the hell out of Freebird, I want my platinum microphone icon. That song is tamborine hell.

It's not achievements like it is on Beatles either, unless it requires over 45 to even get you the first tier of flashy icon.

I picked up the Rock Band 3 guitar linked to me last page (thanks for that, by the way) and I have a question about Rock Band 3. Is there any difficulty between Easy and Normal, one that has the note count of Normal but doesn't use the fourth (Blue) button? I'm pretty terrible at these games and with the amount of time I put into them (play a few songs to unwind then put it down), I don't see myself getting any better than an Easy difficulty player. However, in Rock Band 2, easy is just too easy. I'm decent with the three fingered Green, Red, Yellow buttons but anything more than that just wrecks me. Too many Blue + [Whatever] then another two color combat change up that I rarely ever hit. Breakneck Speed modifier in 2 doesn't really help any.

That's not necessarily true though, you certainly could (and most likely will) get better just by playing more. If you honestly want to get better, play a little every day and you'll see an improvement soon enough. Plus, the higher difficulties are a lot more fun (more to do, mainly) so you have a lot to look forward to.

You could maybe work it in GH because it has a different hit-miss mechanic, but the way RB fast sequences work it would be literally impossible to hit the notes.

In GH timing windows overlap but in RB overwrite. Meaning if you have a string of notes really close to eachother the next note's front end will encroach on the previous note's rear end, removing the ability to hit that first note late, or even on time depending on their proximity.

Orgophlax posted:Similar to what the other guy said, but there is a download history, so you don't have to go through and find each piece of DLC manually. Just go into your history and tell it to redownload and it'll add to your queue. Only 10 items at a time though. Actually, the new queue size is 30 at a time, and it helps so much to have a queue of that size. I got a new 360 over the weekend and had to do the license transfer to it, but it's actually relatively a breeze with the new download history page and 30 item queue. The new download history page does AJAX postbacks for the "Add to Queue" items, so there's no need for that long pause when you wait for the whole page to reload. However, some items do appear to be broken. Snoop Dogg Pack 01, the launch week Doors packs, RB2 export, Lego export, and some RBN songs fail to add to the download queue through that interface, and you have to use the Download History item on the 360 itself to get those to redownload.

Basically anything that has been removed from the marketplace or isn't publicly listed needs to be accessed through the Xbox's download history. Old Doors packs, old Roadrunner Records pack, that Disturbed 2 song bonus pack, stuff like that.

The Snoop pack was changed after it was released to remove one of the songs. The same thing with the Roadrunner pack, I was confused when it was trying to make me buy it again only to find out they removed the Airbourne song and the only way to get it back was through the history (which, oddly enough, did include the "removed" song once downloaded).

Didn't they change that in RB3? Before, GGaHT was only possible to FC if you were on PAL because of that one tremolo (PAL because of something to do with refresh rates), but now they're entirely possible and I'm pretty sure I combo'd that part once and can hold a 4x most of the time, compared to being lucky to even see a 3x. Moot point anyway because RBN songs still have to play in RB2. Oh, and hopefully it'd fail on the grounds for being total poo poo for gameplay.

So I just replaced my bricked Xbox with the new 250 gig kinect one and I have begun the process of transferring my rock band poo poo over. I've already done rock band 1 and am redownloading my purchased dlc. The problem that I have is with LEGO rock band. It will not allow me to copy the songs a second time and since the game was a gift over a year ago, I don't have the receipt to get a new code. Am I able to just manually transfer the songs through USB, and will they be usable?
