After quite a few years of procrastinating and being ill, I've finally managed to set up a workable home studio (Keystation Pro 88, Edirol UA5, Cubase, NI Big Piano). I did a quick 5 min impro to test everything out:

http://soundcloud.com/stuwyatt/first-attempt

I have to limit my playing to 10 min snippets every few hours/days, but I now have the ability to record everything, and to slowly build up full orchestral performances.

Mood: Happy :)

are now than they ever were before.
Here are five sample songs off my band's latest album (our fifth). Cowpunk/americana-type stuff--acoustic guitars, pedal steel, drumset, and bass. I play upright bass with the group.

This is my band's bandcamp page. (I'm the bassist and the sometimes vocalist) This past summer we got a semi-professional recording done of all the songs we had at that point and made a 9-track album out of it. Of course since those 9-tracks were made over a 4 year period, primarily made of procrastination and teenage forgetfulness, the album turned out quite eclectic. It ranges from almost metal to flat out punk to instrumental jazz rock. It's strange but we're proud of it. 2 tracks are freely downloadable and after a while we'll just put the whole thing up for pay what you want.

EDIT: Just after I posted this I wound up realizing I had accidentally uploaded the unmastered tracks to bandcamp. Not sure how I did that but I'm correcting the issue.

Has anyone else noticed a recent upsurge in spam accounts on soundcloud? These new ones I'm noticing aren't the usual "user23730548" but have Russian-like gibberish for usernames and (of course) pictures of hot girls...I'm noticing every new track I upload gets instantly favorited by these accounts (with no plays). I've seen similiar accounts favoriting other people's tracks as well. And they tend to have about 200-300 followers that seem legitimate.

Hey all,

Been producing for around a year and a half now in my spare time. Been really enjoying it. Thanks for anyone who checks my soundcloud out, I currently have two beats on there. One old-school hiphop (boom bap) kind of styled and one that is pretty trap. Thanks for any listens! I always check out anyones page who interacts with me on soundcloud and often like/comment what I enjoy :)

My buddy and I gave ourselves a project to recreate our favorite 80's sci-fi movie themes. I'm doing the theme to The Terminator and he's doing Escape from New York. I got geared up to get started but then I kinda got off on a tangent and made a whole different song instead.

I've been producing for about 7 years now and I have kind of found a liking to chiptune fused with other electronic genre's with an orchestrated influence as well. I released an EP in Mid 2013 and I have also done a podcast intro for SA's very own Retsupurae.

This is awesome!

My band recorded an EP with Bob Hoag at Flying Blanket in Mesa, AZ back in November, we're finally getting around to releasing it one track at a time. I've been playing in bands for about 14 years now and have always recorded at home. It was amazing working with a producer in a professional studio. I can't wait to go back and do a whole album!

Here is my soundcloud. Australian rock just released and started gigging.
https://soundcloud.com/bombay-scarlet

Our singer was just in a car accident and cant perform at any of our booked in gigs which we have to do otherwise our band career is going down the toilet due to selling quite a lot of tickets already so our lead guitarist is going to front the band instead. oh and our bass player just became a dad so gigs aren't on his mind right now so we had to bring in a rhythm guitarist to replace our singers guitar who will now be doing bass. Fun stuff.

Here's my theory. Someones got an army of bots, selling likes and favorites, but to try and dodge soundclouds bot detection, the bots go around liking various random things instead of a bunch of bots exploding on one customers content, making them harder to detect.

I teach music technology at a college here in town, and I am working with some of my little go-getters to thank people for taking part in the school's relay for life charity event and help to raise money for the american cancer society. We are going to be recording/producing an album (or two) in 12 hours starting at 7pm tomorrow. The album will go live (for free, sort of, you can read about our honor system payment plan on the bandcamp page) on saturday before 7pm. All proceeds from the bandcamp page will go directly to the ACS, so if you like music and hate cancer give it a listen/read.

Also, in a more traditional sort of plug, here is the soundcloud for a radio show I produce with the kiddos, a lot of whom will be on the charity record. Lots of out-there hip-hop, dance stuff, r and b, you name it.
