How are you guys going for score on HRC?

I seem to always end up with one of two scores, about 500 if I don't get the 100chip multiball, and 1-1.1 if I do. Am I playing wrong, or is that just how the table goes?

Some light googling failed to find a tournament strategy for it.

My highs are definitely dependent on doing well during the Casino Frenzy and Break the Bank multiballs. A good run during those can be huge.

The key of course is getting there. Helps a lot for me anyway when I'm able to use the cheat thing on poker and or craps. That dealer is a straight machine at poker, and craps seems to be a (ha) crap shoot for me.

Had a really irritating glitch on Twilight Zone earlier, and managed to capture it on shadowplay.

Firstly the TILT message persisted to the following ball, and wouldn't go away.
Secondly the ball passes through the flipper and drains.

Is it STILL doing this? Farsight explained TWO YEARS AGO that this was because the physics engine and the graphics weren't syncing right, and optimizing this was their highest priority. There is no good reason stuff like this should still be happening, especially with a table they had to crowdfund. Farsight isn't lazy, far from it, but they have a serious problem with prioritizing.

They're terrible game developers and can't seem to ever get their poo poo together enough to do anything other than ask loyal customers to dump loads of cash on very uneven software. Don't get me wrong I've had a ton of fun with TPA on multiple consoles but I have pretty much zero respect for Farsight at this point. They're terrible at customer communication which makes it all that much worse too.

Provided of course that they don't force the Farsight team to crank out not-quite-actual-pinball "pinball" tables based on licensed properties, with stupid animated features and gimmicks that distract from the core gameplay.

Also, is there a database/spreadsheet with peoples various online pinball usernames listed?

As far as TPA goes, I've got two friends who I've added but they both stopped playing.

When I've played AFM on VpinMAME when the score rolls over a billion it adds a little "battery like" icon in the bottom left of the display.

On a personal vendetta against the wizard goals note - knocked off the final Haunted House goal, and ended up beating my previous high score by nearly 2 million. Good for 7th overall.

As is typically the case - Space Tractor just kills it.

Cabinet update with crap cell phone pics. I'll take some better ones tomorrow. The paint looks so much better in person than in these pics.

Got lockdown bar, side rails, glass plastic in last week. Decided to paint today, 2 coats of primter then 2 coats of each black satin for the outside and white satin for the inside and front. Saw another guy do this combo on his cab and it turned out great.

Gotta fix the drip on this one.

Now it's just a matter of getting all the electronic bits and pieces ordered and in and put together.

I think I got it 3 times with a lot of total annihilations and by the end of it, I was getting really tired so I became super sloppy. AFM was really the only reason why I bought the season one table pack.

I had one in my last build and I just didn't care for it and I wanted the cleaner look of just having the launch ball button and not both the plunger and the button.

What was the issue? Was the feel of it off, or was it a technical thing where it would lose calibration or something?

Yes and yes. There was quite a few tables where it wasn't setup to work with that specific table and I just got tired of futzing with virtual pin to make it work. Apparently there is a newer version of it with better calibration and whatnot but I decided to just go with the button route.

You hold down the button and it acts like the plunger being pulled back. It's not just a push button, ball launches type deal. Hold in button, watch plunger come back and then release. :)

Wood, paint, sundry supplies, chrome, glass, graphics, driver boards, electronics, coin mech, actuators, knocker, tilt mechanism, shaker, and on and on and on. There's virtually no ceiling on price as you can just keep adding and adding stuff to a virtuapin.

Yes, all of this!

46" TV - $300
32" TV - $200
DMD - $300
Controller boards - $200-400
LEDs - $100-200
Misc buttons - $50
Cabinet Legs - $75
Wood for cabinet - $100
Side Rails - $50
Audio components - $100
Contactors/other force feedback devices - $100-500(depending how crazy you go)
Glass - $100
PC - $4-600
Lockdown bar - $50-100

Those are estimates but most pretty close to the price and then another 3-500 for misc things that I'm forgetting, like paint, extra tools I had to buy, my time! etc.

I'd guess it's all about how much you would enjoy playing the table, and maybe how much you were into TMNT. :)

cosmicjim posted:

I paid $1300 for that table. You got a great deal. That being said, the game is pretty shallow. The key to the game is being able to hit 3 consecutive shots when a certain thing is lit. Hitting one ramp, then the other, then the sewer. It's a pretty low scoring table and hitting that combo is worth like 10 million by itself, when otherwise your total score might be 10 million.

I did not find it fun at all. You could maybe get a nice profit on it if you found the right buyer, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. I paid 950 for one that didnt have much wear, and I think I overpaid.
