Just watched Die Another Day for the first time ever, my god it's an absolute aneurism inducing cluster gently caress of a film. Can certainly see why they had to throw the whole franchise out of the window and restart from scratch again.

I never realised Lee Tamahori directed Once Were Warriors, which was a great movie. His resume after that though is rather sketchy, maybe The Devil's Double will be a good one. There are just so many problems with Die Another Day, some things in it worked well. I really liked the first half hour or so, despite the ridiculous hovercraft chase and the Madonna song (though the intro/torture sequence was pretty cool and unexpected). After that it just became incredibly schizophrenic, the plot went totally out the window and it became a series of lame callbacks to earlier Bond movies and horrible CGI action sequences. It was just a really very stupid film, not bad but disappointingly dumb. In fact as a film it was probably up to the standard of something like Wild Wild West. keep punching joe fucked around with this message at Oct 14, 2011 around 01:42 |

Mr. Kidd and Mr. Wint would be fun villains if they were to go digging into the past, or how about Bardem as a young Scaramanga?

I liked Quantum, it just felt like there were large chunks of plot missing in between the action sequences.

Oh I forgot that Brosnan totally runs like a girl, still at least he wasn't all awkward and stiff like the hundred year old Moore in View to a Kill.
