Light Along the Inverse Curve.

I used to always crash at that battle between Blackthorn and Lord British as well. My solution to get past it was to turn down the viewing distance and all the graphical settings down to the absolute lowest settings. I'd be lucky to even see half of that fight happen.

In fairness to U9 although the character models are a bit shite and the dungeons were unimpressive I thought the landscape itself looked quite good and has a pretty decent colourful palette.

Blackthorne, I should have killed you when I had the chance even though the whole loving point was that I'm a better person than you.

Hell there's even a book that you find in the Serpent Isle that shows that Blackthorn had learnt his lesson and had reformed himself. But like a lot of neat plot threads set up in the previous Ultimas this loving game ignores everything and doles out a massive poo poo sandwich instead.

For as bad as this version of the plot is, the original plot for U9 was somehow worse (though I think we've covered my feelings about that, at length, in both this thread and the videos.)

Not particularly. All I can recall is vague comments about the game's story being awful.

In that vein, will the game be over with the next update? We've run out of places to retread from previous Ultima games.

Basically it spins off of U8 and is somehow more convoluted than what ended up happening. However, because they were lazy/ran out of money/time (take your pick) there are still elements of that plot that crop up throughout U9 and make absolutely no loving sense whatsoever.

Here's a really good bit on the plot that will explain it way better than I can (Note: There are some spoilers in the bit from Bob White): http://www.rpgplanet.com/ultima9/ex...inal_plot.shtml

Ha. Ha. Ha.

If I'm reading this correctly, the original plot had the Avatar traveling the lands with Lord British's self-insertion and Raven? I cannot imagine a more creepy scenario.

Also, does that mean that Ooli and company were a later decision? Since I'm still reeling from that stupidity.

You would think that a game as bad as this one would take less then 25+ hours.

After almost a year and a half its gonna be kind of sad to see this LP finish.

It's gonna be sad because this is legitimately one of the best LPs I've ever seen. I don't know if another game has the technical incompetence to inspire Andichu's rage while Jewmander is incredibly chill about everything. I don't know how that combination produced something so great but I love it.

There should be three or four updates still left.

Which, based on the pace of recent updates, means another six to eight months.

There are innumerable ways in which I can stop you.

This has been a pretty fantastic LP, I'm glad to have been able to see Ultima 9 so that I never have to actually play it. Ultima 8 and Ultima 9 hated my computer as a child and I didn't even have internet at home back then to troubleshoot or patch their broken poo poo up. I had to wait years before fully suffering the disappointment of Ultima 8, and I wasn't about to go through 9 after that. Hope you guys keep on expanding the art of potion-bottle architecture, right to the bitter end

I might be alone in this, but I enjoy the inventory management. It just wouldn't be the authentic ultima 9 experience without it.

It would be nice if you could leave the map up longer though. It would make the plot easier to follow if I knew where you were.

They're definitely going to need all of it to defeat The Guardian. I'm really surprised at how far they've gotten, what with how tough the end game enemies are.
