Not crazy, just evil.

If they ever want to be the "Real Driving Simulator" they're gonna have to program a virtual bird to poo poo on my virtual car within 5 minutes of me washing and detailing it. The bastards know I can't blast them in city limits with all these civilians around.

I ended up putting on all of the assists and stability control to 5, and even though that made it easier it still took me several tries to get the freaking bronze.

If it makes you feel better the 2 lap race at the on of IB is significantly easier. You can touch the other cars without being immediately disqualified.

Homework?!

Racing with a controller isn't that bad. I've gotten gold on every race so far and that VW challenge. You just have to have a lot of practice and remember that turning is really sensitive a few millimeters is all you need for a simple turn. also I changed my gas and brake to R2 and L2 which helped a lot. When it comes to this game Practice makes perfect (other than the A-Spec Races since the drivers change when you exit out, if you race against a faster car or a douche AI just exit and go back in). Other than that they all race the same and usually take the same lines every time, just focus and learn from your past mistakes.

Keys to winning: Throttle Control, braking, drafting, cornering. I've won some close races by maintaining speed out of turns.

Well, GT5 sold 1.8million copies in two days.

However, VGChartz estimates that Sony sold 1.8 million copies of the game in its first two days on sale. By the end of week one that total is expected to rise to 2.5 million. That would put it on a par with Gran Turismo 4, and be close to the opening weeks enjoyed by Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2, Final Fantasy XIII, and GTA IV.

Gills? Impossible. The simplest solution is that he stores fresh oil in his stomach, and the used oil is going into his lungs.

all day, every day

I've never really played a Gran Turismo game before (other than the demos of 1 and 2 back in the day from those awesome Pizza Hut demo discs), but I really got into Forza 2 and 3 on the 360, and I generally enjoyed GT5 Prologue, so I picked this one up to go with my brand spanking new 46" Samsung LED.

I've read the reviews, I realize the complaints, but as a relatively unseasoned new racing gamer, this game is a loving balls-out orgasm. I'm loving it. The graphics weren't as pretty as they looked in the trailers (which is to be expected), but the fact that I'm cruising along at 1080p 60 FPS is incredible to me.

I just got into the game a few hours ago, but I can't really see this leaving my frame of mind anytime soon. I know this will come off as that new guy, with people responding to themselves going "heh, this gently caress has no idea what he's talking about," but for what it's worth, as a novice, this is a spectacular game and I can't wait to really sink my teeth into it.

If anything, I think I'll be overjoyed by the complaints I have, because it will show that I'm at least knowledgeable enough in racing games (or at least Gran Turismo) to actually know what's what.

edit: I haven't touched online yet, but I'm kinda new to the PSN thing and don't know where to start. No matchmaking, etc. Any tips?

How do you know when you need to have a chassis repair? With that said how long do you go before you need a oil change / engine repair?

I just noticed that my hp was dropping so did an oil change. It may have been a graphical glitch, but when I went for a chassis repair there were body panels literally splitting away from each other.

On a different topic, I just did my first B-Spec pit stop. It was adorable. I kinda wish it would give your driver a little strength boost though.

vvv From my understanding, that essentially means he's not paying enough attention to driving. Middle ground really is the best ground, except for preparing to pass and passing, of course. vvv

This is more or less where I'm at. I haven't played a serious racing game like this since...probably NFS2. I'm not a huge car enthusiast, but I'm loving this. I read the reviews which expressed a little disappointment, but that must've been for people who have played the other games in the franchise. I'm blown awY by this, even just playing on a gamepad.

I'd encourage anyone interested but unsure whether the simulator focus means the game is sterile or boring to check it out. Because it's a lot of fun, especially since the presentation and physics are good enough to draw anybody in.

I was able to do it just fine with a modded 458. Just make sure you have good tires and an aero kit installed, otherwise all that extra power is going to be really tough to handle.

Oh snap, you're correct:

From Playstation.com

Remote races can be started from the us.gran-turismo.com official website, where you can even monitor the progress and check results of the race.

While on the go or away from home, you can check race results, and even set and start new remote races. A whole new way to enjoy Gran Turismo is here.

*The service for remote race is planned to made available in December 2010.
* To host a remote race, you must be signed in to the PlayStationŽNetwork.

*This feature enables the remote operation of "Gran Turismo 5" from a web browser, and requires "Gran Turismo 5" to be running on your "PlayStation 3," set to the remote race screen in the game.
*Race progress is displayed via text only.

A post on gtplanet mentioned rubber banding with respect to how bad the AI is (i.e. they get faster when behind and slower when ahead). What I've noticed personally in my races is that if I'm in the lead, at some point one single car will come up and challenge me but never really more than that. It's just me and one comp car and everyone else is pretty much off the map. And if that car gets ahead of me much of the time it's impossible to catch up with it again.

If anyone is having trouble in license test IB-7 (rally stage on Toscana where you just do a long sweeping right turn), you can change the AWD balance to great effect. Pop open the RA menu and switch it to 50/50, it is setup at 30/70 F/R on that car by default. That will give it way more grip and allow you to accelerate better, so you can keep your speed up and keep your line tighter. After switching that over, I got gold by like 2 tenths on my first try

I've been wondering how you upgrade parts, thinking everything would be together ala Forza, but now I know GT Auto is for maintenance/paint and tuning is for everything else.

Some of it can be explained by other cars being able to draft each other, which naturally will make them faster than a lead car all things being equal. But I haven't noticed anything too egregious.
