As a general rule of thumb it seems like if you buy the best car in the field you tend to win that car. I'm at Expert level now, and just won a fair bit of money from the GT World Championships. What supercars are you guys rolling in? SLS AMG seems to be the most popular eh?

PFCHudson posted:I don't think anyone ever said it was amazingly hard? It's simply not fun, it's tedious, and . it seems to arbitrarily fail people, I feel we've been over all this. Yes, people are saying it's too hard. That's exactly why people are saying it's tedious and "unfun". Your argument of arbitrarily failing people is pretty stupid too because really it should fail you for every gently caress-up. Would you be bitching then or is it only a problem because you can sometimes get away with things? Anyway it's a stupid argument. I had lots of fun doing that challenge and didn't find it difficult so it's just your opinion. I know there are lots of people here that didn't find it so tough either.

PFCHudson posted:"Your argument of arbitrarily failing people is pretty stupid too because really it should fail you for every gently caress-up." you're jumping to some pretty stupid assumptions. What I'm saying is that if your argument is it allows me to bump cars sometimes and not others, just pretend you're never allowed to bump the cars, you shouldn't be allowed to anyway really. You're pretty quick to call people fanboys, aren't you? edit: and "I figured" means it was your logic, not mine.

Really GT5 probably has the least intuitive menu I've seen in any recent game. They have a sidebar on the Home screen that should have stayed with you through every screen. I think they were trying to keep it minimalist but just having a "Go Home" button in the corner but they should at least have quick access to your garage and races too. edit: I still need a Lupo, anyone have one I can borrow for a race?

It's annoying not being able to get ANY car you need for a series. any loading screen will do, so load up some license tests or enter and then back out of races and that should d it. zedprime posted:People always focus on money, or now XP, per hour. I never understood this. I always rate events on a basis of money or XP per amount of fun I have. Grinding on a track or event you hate seems like it completely misses the point of playing a video game. But realistically, if you're trying to save up for million dollar vehicles, you're not going to do your favourite race, or the most scenic, you're going to do the one that pays the best. You're still enjoying the game, just not wasting time.

Moruitelda posted:You want to talk infuriating? Let's stop bitching about the Intermediate Top Gear Challenge. The Night Tuscan race in the Gallardo is AWFUL. I really didn't think it was too bad. Just like with the Elise, you realize it's going to kick your rear end if you even try to get risky and you have to drive it like a baby. I don't think that particular challenge took me more than three tries. Ugh, it seems like such a long grind between levels. I just unlocked Extreme, immediately demolished the competition in the first event, and now it feels like I'm struggling for experience just to unlock something to do. Golding the licenses gives you basically nothing. Can someone lend me cars for both the Historic Cup and All-Stars? I haven't bothered with the birthday exploit and don't have the millions required to buy cars suitable for those events. PSN is ThreeBomb, it would be much appreciated.

Boogat posted:But the car I need costs around 6million Cr. after tuning. That's a lot of birthday exploiting right there since it only gets you around 74k Cr. each time. Yeah, anytime I find something that could potentially compete in Used cars it's upwards of 5 million for the car. I have the Bugatti but it seems like the other cars can easily out-handle me

GreatGreen posted:Ok, so just to be clear, at what level does the game go from being entertaining and fun to a wall of grinding for every dollar and experience point? I'd say around 18+. The special events you unlock which are pretty much the only thing that gives you much experience start getting difficult, and the cars you need for two of the races in Expert are multi-million dollar cars and the best you can do for grinding at the time is $36,000 for about 4 minutes of driving in the Turbo events. edit: yeah 20 might be a better answer. You unlock the Extreme series but only one of the nine events. Once those are completed it's a long way between the levels you need to unlock more events. I still haven't used the birthday exploit as it's against my strict gaming principles.

A lot of the complaints about this game are stupid and sound like they're coming from people that never played a GT game in their life. Handling and a good driving line are just as important as dumping power into your car, and most races can be won close to bone-stock with good driving. Also, this game has paid out better than any other GT game I've played so you should be thankful you weren't grinding the Sunday Cup for 1000 credits about 50 times.

GreatGreen posted:I think winning all the races in an event should win you two cars. One that, unmodified, will easily win the challenge you just won every time, and another car that can win you 1st place, unmodified, in the next event's races, and if you want an easier time with that next race, just pour some money in your newly won car. Hmm yes why didn't the devs think about letting me buy one car, tune it, and then hand me every other car I will ever need. And though this game does introduce the level-based unlocking I still never though about the series as being "in order". This is a really terrible idea, I was really surprised to see you add the "why didn't the devs think of" such a stupid thing when there are so many other issues at hand.

smallmouth posted:I hope this is because you can't decide which Skyline to choose from. There's probably 100 affordable cars that fit the bill and would crush that series with the smallest bit of tuning. Either of the 90's Skylines in the dealership would do just fine. Just buy a sport clutch/flywheel and maybe a sport exhaust and own those races. Perhaps it is too difficult to see which cars in the used lot are both the correct year and country. Video games nowadays are too tough. Also, GreatGreen mentioned how useless the reward cars were in this game, but really you can probably win every sort of car you need. I won a Maserati that worked for both Italian Cars and another series, you win a Lupo and a truck, and there are probably many others. edit: pretty sure I won a Vitz too.
