So pumped, I was unreasonably hoping that Amazon would ship my CE early but no . Tomorrow I'm going to start spamming friend list invites until my list fills up. I don't expect to be up to online racing form anytime soon but it'll be nice to have some of everyone's top times to shoot for.

hobbesmaster posted:They are. I would say its because of black Friday, but that makes absolutely no sense. I haven't had an Amazon release date delivery that shipped before 6 P.M. the day before a game was supposed to come out. They all get to me 9 A.M. the day of delivery. I don't know why they do it that way but every time they get it to me on time.

Erebus posted:Amazon's had mine sitting at "this order is being prepared" all day and it's starting to worry me. If it makes you feel any better I use amazon for all of my preorders and certain times I've had it not chang to "shipped" until 11 or 12 at night and they've always gotten to my door by 10AM the next day for release date delivery.

tboneDX posted:If I plan to be out of the house at some point, would UPS drop packages through mail slots or onto my porsche[sic] if I left a note on my door? I really don't want to miss the delivery This also depends on where you live. My UPS guy always leaves the packages but if you live in an area where packages go missing they won't leave it. Probably not a good idea for him to leave it on top of your Porsche though.

You can play just fine without a wheel. If you're really into it you might find a wheel makes it a little more enjoyable but it's by no means necessary.

Decided that for GT5 I was going to start with no driver assists because every other racing sim I've started with them on and as I gradually turned them off, got shittier and shittier until I was too frustrated to play the game anymore. Doing alright so far but that's easy to do in a Civic with barely over 200 HP, haha. I'm a lot better than my B-Spec driver, that's for sure! I'm going to need to spend a lot more time learning the courses though because right now if it's not one of the well known tracks that's in pretty much every racing sim I'm flying around it like a retard.

Slow and Serious posted:Lucky. Do you have one of the new PS3s? I started installing nearly an hour ago and it's almost done now. I can't wait! Mine was only about 20-30 minutes. I have an old PC but have since replaced the hard-drive so maybe that's why.

Ok, I'm missing an option somewhere. I selected miles in options and the game still uses KM for pretty much anything but speed. Everything else is in metric too and I can't find the option to change it. I'm tired of converting poo poo in my head.

After days of deluding myself into thinking that I could do GT5 without any assists, I finally broke down and put ABS back up to 1. I'm a failure who doesn't know how to stop a car properly.

I finally had a couple of classic muscle cars show up under used cars and decided to go with the 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7 over the 1969 Chevy Camaro SS. I souped it up a little bit and holy cow does this thing fly. Sort of makes me want to own one in real life.

cat with hands posted:Supercars aside, what is everyones favorite modest racer? I have tons of fun riding the ring with a Lupo cup car. Having a car that you really push to the limit is more fun to me than the 800 HP monster you have to tip toe around the corners. I got the Honda Mugen Motul Civic SI '87 race car as a reward for something and I took that into a race and at 890kg and 216hp it can really go and could turn on a dime. I wish there were more opportunities for me to use it!

So if I'm in general awful at GT, is there any reason to register for the GT Academy and do the time trials and such in the seasonal challenges? What I mean is is there any reward for competing or just for winning?
