Read them, think about what and why you are doing what you're doing and you'll learn to be a better driver because of it. It takes awhile and can be very very frustrating but it pays off in the end. Plus it applies to real world driving too. After awhile you'll be thinking to yourself "drat, I just late apexed the poo poo out of that parking spot. Look how perfect I parked." Then you'll watch soccer moms in SUVs drive and you'll yell through them from your car "DON'T APEX EARLY YOU HAGGY OLD BITCH YOU'RE GOING TO HIT MY CAR!"

Thought this might be useful information (even if it's been posted) about used cars might help.quote:Since GT5 doesn't keep track of game days, following the used car rotation is extremely tricky. It requires you to keep track of how many times you have driven a car in the GT Mode part of the game, as that is what the game classes as a "day". Every time you see the loading bar, that's a "day" gone - repeatedly trying the same licence test doesn't burn a day, but entering a new licence test or special event, entering a new race or practice session counts as a day even if you don't drive anywhere.

But for Eiger (or any of them) watch the demo or whatever it's called. I watched the ghosts lap and it helped me just by seeing what they're doing. Also, on Eiger, the ghost finishes about 5-8 seconds faster than the time you need for gold trophy. So if you're not pacing the ghost you still have a few seconds.

There's also a corner or two where i'd spin out if I went full throttle like in all the previous races, so let off the throttle, or even *gasp* brake a bit. Smooth is fast here, drive same line as you would in a car but make sure you never touch a rumble strip.

If you're still early in the game, or at the very least at low levels (<12 or so) the main thing you should be doing is license tests and special events. When you're at low levels these will give you the most cash and experience to gain levels. When you hit about level 19 or 20 the gap gets really large between levels. 80k XP or so, I think. the special events dish out a decent amount of XP and you can gain a couple of levels easily with an event or two. So you might as well hammer them out when you can also win large amounts of cash and gain more levels at once. Plus you win cars that can often be used for other races (and again for b-spec) so you can save money there too. Try not to mod a car further than it needs to go. If the best car that shows up is a 220hp Honda Accord, you don't need to show up with a full race modded Evo.

For the Like The Wind ZR1, get aggressive on the first lap. When you get on the straight-away / banked turns, you should be able to catch-up and out accelerate the cars. Draft the poo poo out of anything you can, late brake and get aggressive and pass the fuckers. The hardest part for me was making it through the first 3 turns. I'd get taken out or just straight up gently caress up and take myself out. that's for Daytona. On the oval one I was able to max throttle the whole race and almost lap the fuckers. think I was averaging 42.xxx with an occasional dip into 41.9xx.

Speaking of RUF, I finally collected one of each model in the game. Now what? Does anybody else feel... Lost? I mean, there's a decent amount of races and obviously lots of cars. But there doesn't seem to be any real goal, or even pseudo-goal I can make for myself. Like: Pick X Car, tune to X 'class', test against other X 'class' cars. I don't really feel any need to mod a car except to get it good enough (or more than good enough, hehe) to beat a race. It makes me wonder how the leaderboards are going to work. How are they going to be separated. Car? Track? Tires? Mods? but how? Will every track leaderboard just be dominated by the ...I think I just sperg'd. gently caress.

I found the RUF RGT and some other one right off the bat. For me, they came in groups of two. or one right after another. When I was specifically looking for the other few RUFs it only took like 2 times through loading license tests for it to come up. Load up first license test. hit next, hit next, hit next, etc. Once I get to #6, check dealership. rinse repeat as needed.

Busted out my wheel and played some GT5 this past weekend for the first time since Christmas. It's a bit better with the patches. Though after finishing a Seasonal Event it sure does suck big fat balls to get sent back to the main profile menu. But it was nice to do some of those events for decent awards. I did a handful of old license tests and special events too. I just can't be motivated to do the last 3 events I have of Expert and Extreme races though and certainly don't really care to do the endurance races either. I'll probably play from time to time to dick around with cars.

GT5 is a cool racer and looks great. But the main thing for me is that it isn't fun. It's rather tedious and it causes me to hardly play the game. Or when I do it's only for a short time. I have a lot more fun with the Forza games (though I do get frustrated now and then just like other games).

I said come in! posted:I decided to buy GT5 again when I got my Logitech DFGT wheel and it feels like a totally different game. I don't know if you are playing with a wheel or not, but the game is a lot more fun with one. It was designed with one in mind, and GT5 uses a lot of hidden driving aids when you have a controller, making it a really boring experience. The difference is night and day, really. Yeah, I have a wheel. It's the main reason I still have an interest to play now and then. A few hours here and there.
