On here everyone was making a lot of sense and suffering abuse from people who hadn't been watching Liverpool play (here's a hint, they were utter utter poo poo).

They still are

Is that interest in domestic basketball or NBA?

Maybe the article I read was blowing smoke.

Fine. I'm all wrong. No one watches basketball except Americans.

It's the number 2 or 3 sport in a lot of continental Europe, but it's entirely a minority sport in Britain - the NBA is probably quite a bit less popular than the NFL.

The interesting thing is that roughly as many people in the UK play basketball as they do rugby, it's more popular in that sense than tennis, cricket etc by a long long way - it's just that nobody gives a poo poo about the professional game here or in the NBA where it's actually of a good standard.

Yeah, this is true. I suspect this is mostly a kit/equipment thing - basketball hoops are everywhere, especially in cities, and all you need after that is a ball, not even a racquet each, never mind all the bullshit required for cricket. It's interesting that media coverage hasn't really caught up with people playing, maybe cricket and rugby just hold a lot of dominance over scheduling.

Why would you sign a worse, more expensive Ozil when you already have one in Kaka?

The UK has no ruling over say a 17 year old having sex with a 15 year old, but I think in most cases the parents probably wouldn't report the 17 year old to the police. Having said that, if you're over 18 and in a position of trust its always illegal if the other person is under 18.

Also those posts are loving shocking and the age of consent in another country should have absolutely no bearing on any case here.

A 17-year old having sex with a 15 year old would be illegal but it would be a different crime than if he was having sex with a 12 year old, I can't remember the specifics but it's definitely a less bad crime.

This is going around facebook at the moment

quote:

Aaron Lennon takes it on his chest and brings it down, passes it to Bassong who runs with it before laying it off to Huddlestone, Defoe spots a window and makes a run, Huddlestone sees him and makes the pass and Defoe puts it away nicely.

"Right lads," says Palacios, "let's get one more Plasma before the loving pigs get here."
