A problem I have with a low sweep-the-pad sensitivity, which is indeed a lot better for twitch FPSs, is that it does not mesh well with a wrist rest, and I consider a wrist rest essential. Making the two work together would require, I believe, a rigid low-attrition mouse pad as well as one of those wrist rests with a strap.

A trackball with a huge ball accomplishes pretty much the same thing.
