Phhhhhtttttt!
If you liked:
Binoculars Overhaul (allowed you to replace the zoom key with a binocular, added new binoculars)
DK Bullet Time
Companion Disguises
Grenade Hotkey
Extended Repair Kits
the Sprint Mod
Timescale adjusting
and Container Sorting

Boy, The Vmods Suite mod is for you!

Using NVSE one mod now does all the above things, and runs via one menu hotkey for setup. You can configure all the different parts on or off. I'm not using the Timescale mod, companion disguises, or the Container sorting mod, as I have other stuff for timescale, don't care about the others.

Basically this works pretty well, and is easy to use.

Also, I am still working on the backpack integration thing - it slowed down when I built my Tazering ED-E, and I am currently working my way along with a mod for the Primm Sheriff quest, but I should have some time to do more on this next week.

If you use classic fallout weapons new vegas, reload is incompatible, so it's one OR the other. The texture quality for both mods is about even, reload has nothing that looks as absolutely lovely as one or two textures do in CFW but it also adds quite a few less weapons. Reload also makes casting ammo really loving complicated, you need special equipment and a whole bunch of poo poo that just seems to ruin some of the fun of the game to me.

That said, Reload seems like the spiritual successor to CALIBER from FO3, and the team seems quite a bit more level-headed and less bitchy than the guy who develops CFWNV. I definitely think that it's a mod that you should track, but I wouldn't say it's necessary to use it yet. There are also problems with the way that the current version handles vendor leveled lists that haven't been quite worked out yet, resulting in many items not respawning as they should. There is a new version being developed as we speak, however, so keep an eye on this and see how it develops!

C brings up a menu to disable features. Keep in mind that just because a feature is disabled doesn't mean that you're not also causing conflicts with a mod that comes earlier in your load order. It's best to put this before conflicting mods in your load order just to be safe.

Uhh, thanks much. I thought I can't turn those features off.

Now to contribute, because I love mods:

Savekey
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38276
- I actually prefer this over CASM because by simply pressing F12 key I can make another save w/o the need to go through the menus.

FNVIcons Modders Resource
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38903
- Adds more item icons for the misc itmes

Colonized Freeside
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38974
- Adds more people and new architectures, this is a WIP, but looks pretty good already

FO Tactics Power Armor:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38850
- Unlike the more vocal FO fans, I actually enjoyed FOT so I absolutely love this armor. I do wish that the armor is a little darker though, not black mind you, just darker shade of "green."

UI stuff that I can't live w/o now: (in addition to DUI)

Firstly get either of these great HUD merge tools:

Hud Merger experimental
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38991
- This is a standalone program that detects any HUD mods that you have and merge them.
Unified HUD project:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38961
- This is a FOMM mod. During installation via FOMM, it will detect installed HUDS and merge them.
Primary Needs HUD:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38538
- Puts stats like thirst, starvation, etc. on your HUD.
Grenade Hotkey:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38808
- You can bind keys to melee and throwing grenades.
Powered Power armor:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37983
- Not a UI mod per se, but it is a mod that does a lot of tweaking for PA, like giving them special mods or special advantage and disadvantages (like needing power or generating heat). Also adds HUD element to present the new stats.

Speaking of texture replacer mods, if you guys have a beefy system and plan to use the aforementioned LAA enabler, then you should definitely try
4Ace's Full Texture upgrade:
http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1129324-4aces-full-texture-upgrade/
- This includes hiRes (and std res) textures and normal maps.

Pip-boy 2500 retexture:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38844
- Another one of the replacement for the pip-boy, this version is more fitting to the world of FO IMHO.

Grave Digger:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37935
- For the RPers out there, this mod let you bury slain NPCs.

Better Forest:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35238
- Adds more life, grass, etc. to the forested areas in FONV.

The Strip Open:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38056
- WIP ALERT! This mod opens up the strip by removing the zone transitions. There are still work to be done, esp. with respect to the movement of NPCs, but once I used it, I could never return to the old "closed" strip anymore :(

Caeser's Legion Overhaul:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36503
- This is really one of those "matter of taste" mod. But I think it did a great job at remaking (using only assets already in vanilla FONV) the equipments that the Legion uses. The remade version of the armors look more "post apocalyptic roman" instead of just "Roman." The mod also includes a revamp of the legion raid camp, and a new player home for legion fans at the fort.

Edit: Since FNVPhalanx isn't being updated for the moment, and the old version is getting glitchy, what do you guys recommend to replace it? I have the Unlimited Companion mod from the OP, but I am also thinking about incorporating the Companion Neutrality mod (basically make Boone not fight Legion on sight, etc.), along with some of the others that you guys have already pointed out in the thread. Thanks

I was hesitant to include the current face / hair mods in the OP because those mods strike me as being a lot more subjective than other categories of modification (which is why I didn't include cosmetic companion mods, because there are a ton and to each his own.) I think Ling's is emerging as the standard for cosmetic compilations, however, and I'll probably throw that up on the OP. It's just so difficult to pick one to highlight above the others (especially since most are inundated with gaudy, horrible extras.)

The best advice is just not to go overboard until you've played the game a bit and know what you want to change. You'll probably want to stay away from the overhauls like XFO or Arwen's until you're sure that you really want the changes that they bring. There are a couple of mods that have literally no downside and there's no reason not to use them on a first playthrough, like Electro-City or Arenovalis' retextures, but New Vegas is a drat good game in its own right and mods aren't necessary to make it enjoyable.

Preventing yourself from going crazy with the idea of changing everything right off the bat runs less risk of ruining your gameplay experience with buggy mod installations and helps you fine tune your gaming experience a bit better. Most of the major stuff in the OP is still a WIP, and can fluctuate between buggy and bug-free depending on the day of the week

Are you positive the graphical glitches are from those two plugins? PCB shouldn't be causing any graphic anomalies whatsoever--all it does is run a simple script to automate purging the cell buffer. The Performance Mod *might* be causing it, though I highly doubt it.

Do the problems go away when you disable these two plugins? What sort of weird graphic glitches are you talking about?

Adding onto what SheepNameKiller said, you might simply want to play the game without mods for a little while (beside, maybe, the community compilation patch or something that is intended to fix vanilla gameplay) so that you can get a good feel for what you like and what you want to change. A lot of mod descriptions sound great until you realize that the changes they make to vanilla settings make the game less enjoyable, or too easy, or unbalanced. But if you haven't played the vanilla game, you might not know if it's the mod's fault or the game.

Steam won't let the game start? Is there a CTD? Does Steam just sit with a "preparing to launch" screen, indefinitely? Or does double-clicking the executable do absolutely nothing?

How are you starting FONV? Do you have a desktop icon to quick launch it? If you've got NVSE installed properly with the 3-GB LAA patch linked in the OP, you should be using the executable you modified with the LAA utility.

Do you get the FONV launcher after starting the executable? The LAA-modified executable should start the launcher. If not, something else is wrong. But it's too difficult to see where you're going wrong until I can tell where things are failing.

EDIT: Another thing I thought of, ensure that Steam Cloud is enabled when trying to play the game with NVSE installed. You won't get very far for some reason if Steam Cloud is disabled.

Have you tried starting up FONV by directly starting the executable that you modify with the LAA? You shouldn't have to start NVSE through FOMM. Unless I'm woefully mistaken, even NVSE's website says you can start the game as you normally would, and you don't need to start it with FOMM either, once you've modified the load order to your liking.
