My mod configurator menu only shows Project Nevada options and none for the other mods I've got installed. I'm fairly new to this whole modding thing, but this has got me stumped. I've tried reloading/uninstalling the mod configurator package but nothing seems to be working. Any ideas? e: Actually, forget that. Got it working. It wasn't installing properly for some reason.

Also, maybe I'm missing something but I'm sure I'm supposed to download some version of Nevada Skies for Honest Hearts etc but I can't find it on the nexus place. Anywhere else I might be able to get it? I'm also getting weird cloud effects with one cloud in particular, which looks like a mirror image right in the centre.

I'm really saddened by the lack of Wild Wasteland mods out there. It's a really great perk that's really underutilized in the main game. I was hoping there would be a huge pack that added a bunch more encounters but I'm finding a very distinct lack of such things.

Project reality sounds interesting. I like the idea of darker nights and such. Nevada Skies is OK but it's not the terrifying pitch black I want, even with the "Darker Nights" pack. Basically I want it to be that a pack of ghouls can get within 5 feet of me and I'd still have a hard time making them out.

Wow. Project Reality looks so much better than the lighting version of Nevada Skies. Everything looks less cartoony and more lifelike.

Is A World of Pain worthwhile? I'm not really a huge fan of mods that have huge thematic shifts that don't really seem to fit into the game world as a whole. That said, it sounds quite fun but I'm not sure if it would fall into the "seamless integration" category. I can't even stand the annoying DLC popups because they take me out of the game (DLC delay hasn't been updated for Lonesome road )

Good to know. I still can't believe there's hardly any mods that add in new Wild Wasteland encounters, though. It seems like modders could have a lot of fun with the perk but it doesn't really seem like any have bothered.

Ok so I've got a weird problem. When using FNV4GB to launch Fallout, it comes up with a launcher menu that looks like it would be used to install the game. Problem is, the game is already installed. I'm using the steam version, so I don't even know where the hell this thing is coming from as I installed the game via steam. Launching FalloutNV.exe normally results in the game loading up, but for whatever reason fnv4gb isn't. e: Fixed it. The shaders are great, but the interiors are incredibly dark. I tried entering the Bison Steve Hotel (started a new game), and it was practically pitch black. It was quite funny going into VATS and seeing a highlighted head floating there. I guess I might aswell ask here. While I play FNV the steam overlay and such still works, but whenever I use the key to create a screenshot (F12) it says screenshot saved etc, but they never are. I've only ever had this issue with New Vegas. It's quite frustrating getting screenshots to demonstrate stuff with this problem. Rush Limbo fucked around with this message at 06:00 on Sep 26, 2011 |

You know, I never considered looking there but it turns out it was saving screenshots but it just isn't updating the steam screenshot manager with them. Opening the actual folder shows all of them. So I've figured out the best way to light up an area with these shaders: Create a human torch

Something that really should happen but doesn't: If you've got the Mysterious Stranger perk and you attack the Lonesome Drifter, the Mysterious Stranger should arrive and shoot the player. Someone really needs to mod this.

Happy Noodle Boy posted:Has there been any talk about the Signature Armor & Signature Weapons mods? They sound pretty awesome for those that just like to go through the game with 1 set or armor/weapon though the weapon level-up sound like they will basically turn a good weapon into a woops 1-shot that deathclaw by grazing its toe level of ridiculousness. I'm using Signature Weapons. I have a 9mm pistol as my signature. I've got extended mags and a scope, and even being a relatively low-level weapon it's really cool to be able to use it for most of the game. e: The downside is that your weapons "level up" based on your experience gained. I think it takes something like 20%/10% of your experience and uses it to level up the weapon/armour. If you've got both installed you're looking at a 30% decrease in XP gained, and if you take companions and they get the kills it also doesn't count towards your weapon total. It sounds overpowered, but there's quite a few limiting factors that don't make it that broken. Lets gently caress Bro posted:Is adding Gun Runners Arsenal likely to break any major mods? I wouldn't think so since its just adding weapons but I don't know how mods work. The only things I have that would affect weapons are stuff like Project Nevada and WME. Probably wouldn't break anything, but I imagine you wouldn't be able to use WME on the new weapons until a compatability patch is released. It works pretty well and adds to the immersion as with something as big as the mojave it's weird that there's very few people actually travelling about. Plus it adds one of the features that fallout 3 seemingly had but new vegas lacks which is coming across huge battles of different enemies. I'm trying to find the link to it but fallout nexus isn't working properly for me.

Ugh, a word of warning if you're using Fellout and download the friend of the night perk tweak for it, do not take it, especially when you get to the strip and enter the casinos. They're actually brighter than the vanilla game due to the lights working (sort of) properly, so if you've got friend of the night then it's just a bright white blurry mess. I had to remove the perk via the console and add Math Wrath in its place.

I have absolutely no experience with the GECK or modding of any kind. How difficult would it be to implement a withdrawal/cold turkey system for chems, where if you become addicted, the longer you go without taking the chem the lesser the effects of the withdrawal, until eventually you kick the habit? It's rather annoying how all these drugs are apparantly super drugs that never, ever leave your system and once you get addicted you're hosed for life unless you find a doctor.

Nevada Skies has URWL attached to it now, that makes the daytime lighting seem really colorful and almost cartoony. Another good option is Fellout and Nevada Skies with the weather options switched off. Fellout removes the orange filter and slightly tweaks the light settings, whereas NS adds new skyboxes etc.

Freeside is fine, the strip doesn't really have any huge problems either. I do use Simple Street Lights too, so maybe that's helping. The major issue with Freeside, I find, is that for some reason Nevada Skies loves throwing sandstorms/radstorms in that area, that completely disappear once you actually enter the strip I think I've modded my game so much that it's just a clusterfuck now. I think I'm going to redownload the entire game from steam and start fresh once all the compatibility patches for the new DLC and poo poo comes out. The real killer is that for whatever reason FNVedit doesn't work for me anymore. I've heard that the reason is that the latest patch slightly alters the default esm so FNVedit assumes it isn't loaded because it has checksum check for it and there's no match. It would also be neat to check out Project Reality 4 on a clean install.

Electro City used to be a rather cool mod but like most good things it's become severely bloated and adds a ton of features that nobody really wanted. Simple Street Lights, which is in the OP, is a much better alternative.

To be honest, the strip looks fine no matter what mod you use. The Lucky 38 is like a huge pillar of light, and the other casinos add a ton of light too. Here's the strip from a distance with Nevada Skies installed (draw distance is slightly hosed up, don't know what happened): http://steamcommunity.com/id/hackdaplanet/screenshot/559791921106847549/?tab=public

I've got FNV4GB installed and even with the NMC medium texture pack and a bunch of other mods it's very, very rare that Fallout uses more than 1.6gb of ram. I sometimes wonder if the 4GB thing is actually working. Apparantly stuff like Repopulated Wasteland and Populated Casinos (basically stuff that adds more NPCs) are a huge memory hog, though.

So someone was wondering about the actual strip at night with Fellout. Simple Street Lights doesn't actually touch the strip at all. I installed the New Vegas Restoration and this is what the outside of the Lucky 38 looks like with Fellout. It's about the same level of brightness as it is without the NVR The actual streetlights there are weird, as they are not very bright and only really light in the very small cone that they create. They look very, very weird.

The Wasteland Seeker armour is rather good looking, but for some reason the creator saw fit to put it in the worst location in the game ever (Quarry Junction) Completely retarded given that the armour itself isn't really that good, and not nearly valuable enough to risk your rear end at the only real point in the game where it would be functionally useful.

Everything about the game makes it seem like third person was just an afterthought. I was doing Volare earlier with my Legion dude and I switched to third person and swimming was just really, really weird looking and unnatural. Plus I have PN installed, so whenever I use third person and sprint it literally just plays the running animation faster so it looks like I'm in a benny hill sketch
