I don't care as long as it's fun. Is it as fun as Dr. Video Games 0031 said?

Yes, it is a fun game. I've only beaten one path but there were a good variety of missions and some branches along the way. There's even a hidden wanzer you probably won't find without a FAQ.

Thanks for the recommendations. Brief thoughts on the following games would be appreciated, if anyone's played them:

- Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles (it comes with SotN which makes me want to get it anyway)- Hard but fun. I ended up cheesing it with Maria. SotN is always great.
- Jeanne D'Arc- great SRPG
- Ys: The Oath in Felghana- I haven't tried this yet but 7 was fun.
- Lunar Silver Star Harmony- Great as a remake but the constant loading drive me insane.

With the next-gen PSP coming out soon, is there any reason to buy the current? Has there been any official statements on how backwards-compatible the new PSP will be in terms of running current games? I'm thinking of buying a PSP just so I can play the PSP-exclusive God of War games but I'm not sure I'll be able to justify it to myself if I end up putting it away never to be used again a few months from now.

There won't be a UMD drive but any PSN games will work.

I'm leaving on a trip out of the country for a while and while there, will have zero access to internet/phone/email or anything (Barbados, specifically). Now, obviously, I'm going to be spending most of my time out and about but during the downtime at night and in the airport, I want to be able to have something to entertain me other than books and such, so I was trying to think of portable options.

Specifically, the game Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together for the PSP has me all :circlefap: as a spiritual successor/hybrid of Ogre Battle and Final Fantasy Tactics. The only problem is that I'm having trouble justifying the purchase of a PSP for this game alone since there are virtually no other games for PSP that I've heard of that interest me. On top of that, if I buy it on UMD the next-gen PSP coming out this year is going to make backwards compat. impossible.

I've also been looking at maybe getting a DS, or considering a tablet that I can take with.

Anyone have any recommendations, or want to share their PSP experience? With being this close to the effective end of the current gen PSP lifespan, would you recommend picking one up, just for this trip (and potential trips in the future?)

e: I posted this in the games thread (:downs: ), but I figured I'd get a better response in the dedicated PSP thread

I love my PSP and sold my DS because I just wasn't interested in it anymore. Stuff I've enjoyed: Valkyrie Profile, Kingdom Hearts, Persona 3, Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles (more for SotN), Jeanne D'arc, Y's. I've started Knights in the Nightmare which looks interesting and has to have the most in depth tutorial I've ever seen and Tales of the World which is dungeon crawler with the Tales battle system.
I've never bothered to crack it and have still gotten tons of use out of it. I suppose I handled my emulation bug back on the PC back when FF5 and Secret of Mana 3 were the big thing.

All I remember of playing this game was that it was so hosed up hard that I couldn't even get more than a couple hours into it. I've played and beat tons of SRPGs but XF is just brutal.

Yep, I got to the start of Chapter 3 I think before I called it quits. I was outnumbered 2 to 1, could barely damage them, and there was a monster that could attack every water tile if you stopped in the water. The escort mission was brutal. You have to break people out of jail and escort them to the exit. The boss fixated on an old man and I could not taunt him off. It took every healing item I had to keep him alive until I could kill the boss. The job system itself was nice, though most missions made it so if you didn't have a certain class it would be impossible/very hard.

Anyone try The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky yet and have an opinion on it? I finally got around to Tactics Ogre and I love having more than 5 people on my team.

Luckily, PSN started rejecting my CC information randomly (I didn't change a thing) and it was impossible to get it to work again. Shoddy customer service pays off.

Hey, me too. I hope since I used PSN cards the last couple times there isn't any info left on there.
