Ben, buddy, it's a wonderful day to go web slinging!

You know, on that "no clue" image with the circle around the finger in a slot of some sort, I remember a while back there was a "control the game with your mind" type deal where you touched a device that I can't remember and you could supposedly guide the object on screen in the direction you wanted it to go. And this was like a decade ago.

This is also a terrible attempt at an explanation since I can barely remember it but I have a feeling that's supposed to be some sort of directional pad deal.

I was in Best Buy yesterday and they had a ton of Metroid Other M for $29. It's hilarious to me how badly that game has done to be marked down so far so quick. I kind of wonder if Nintendo will learn what mistakes were made in that game or if they will just assume no one likes Metroid anymore.

I don't think Nintendo is quite as willing to let a major franchise die out, but third parties definitely did this on Wii and it was infuriating.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles was to "Test the market," which means,

A)"If it sells well, Wii owners want more rail shooters."
B)"If it sells poorly, Wii owners don't like Residen Evil at all."

"Either way, you're not getting Resident Evil 5, and it's your fault as a consumer."

Thanks.

Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it easily? I have a flat screen Insigma brand TV. Whenever I hook my NES up to it using composite cables I notice no problem in game play. Whenever I play the same games on the Virtual Console all of a sudden there's slow down or some weird delay in the control. (I haven't really figured out which is which.)

For example: SMB3 plays just fine on the NES, I can still run though the levels perfectly from memory and do just fine. I bought it on the virtual console to keep from having to switch consoles just to play a game and for some reason the weird delay thing keeps me from being as precise as I need to be to play SMB3 as I always have. It's not just me, everyone from life long gamers to casual fans of the series have noticed this too. What is the problem here?

Nintendo was pretty forthright in saying they had no interest in bringing it here. Tecmo Koei is doing a remake of Fatal Frame 2 for the Wii now though, so that might make it. More ports.

Did Pikmin 3 actually get announced for this year? Last I heard, Miyamoto or some other big-wig at Nintendo hinted about working on it, but never said anything more about it.

Pikmin 3 hasn't been formally announced, but Miyamoto has confirmed at every E3 since '08 that it's coming and that it's for Wii. The last we heard was that the core of the game had been established and that they were right at the point where they were going to formally expand the team to complete the game, and that Miyamoto didn't want to say anything about it for fear it'd get lost amongst the hype of Zelda and the 3DS and whatnot. I'd be very surprised if it doesn't drop this year. I mean, what else is there?

Only when people asked and they said "no."

But really, I think there were a few instances where Capcom PR teased that it might be in the cards, even if they were full of poo poo. After Darkside Chronicles, someone from Capcom even said flatout that it would be possible, especially now that the MT Framework runs on Wii, but that they just wouldn't spend the resources to do it.

edit: I haven't exactly missed it though. What I played of RE5 seemed kind of lovely.

Funny - we're discussing this in the 360 thread I think, but RE5 was a very solid game that just wasn't as good as its stellar predecessor.

I played it through to completion anyway.

And Fatal Frame 2 on Wii? Great ... one of the games I have in my X-Box original collection...

I had fun with RE5, racism aside. The coop was pretty fun. I still havent played Fatal Frame 2 despite owning it. I have been trying to finish the first one, but I find the combat too hard.

Sin & Punishment is more than 10 times better, and only 10 times the price! Some third party Amazon sellers appear to have it for $20-30 actually. Save the $5 and use it on S&P instead.

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes runs on MT Lite, I think.

And yeah, the impression I got from playing about an hour of RE5 is that it's an action/shooter with the clumsy controls of a survival horror. The slow handling created an excellent sense of urgency in a horror atmosphere, where as it was just frustrating in an action atmosphere. I'd still like to try the Move version, though, because I understand the controls are almost identical to RE4:WE.

Ditto on Sin & Punishment being amazing. I was lucky enough to get it for 20€ brand new, and it has been worth every cent.

Zelda: Skyward Sword is just about the only big Wii-release I'm looking forward to this year, but I still have DKC:R, Metroid: Other M and the Metroid Prime Trilogy to play through, so I'm pretty well set.

Well why make RE5 for the wii? Your hardcore audience who own a wii is also going to won at least one other console, and they would buy it for that console because they would know it is the superior version.

Not necessarily. Typically when games come out later for other consoles they include bonus materials so that people who already own it would want to purchase it again.

I'm going to pull my Wii apart again tonight and fix the buzzing sound.

I noticed it first back in 2008. I took my Wii apart then, but didn't know what to do to fix the sound. I just noticed it was vibrations I could stop by placing my finger on it (right at the center of the disc).

I've seen enough YouTube videos now of other people with the same issue. I know it's not just my system.
The two fixes I've seen are:

- Loosen a screw so it grips the disc less (easiest, but I don't trust it long-term).

- Bend a metal tab on the drive itself near where it vibrates (a perment "putting a finger on it").

I don't want to mess with sending the system in and paying for a repair, and I know I can't just buy a new one since Nintendo ties all purchases to the system.

Go ahead and play the second one, the difficulty level is noticeably easier, almost too easy IMO. Though the end-bosses remain dangerous, because (at most) you can only take one hit before dying. FF3 got the difficulty just right, fair but still quite challenging.

I'm betting he plays with friends, because I couldn't imagine playing MKWii online now with all of the hacking that's supposedly going on (I haven't played it in maybe a year back when most of the people weren't hacking, so I don't know what it's like now). This really makes me hope that Nintendo does a better job at stopping cheaters from going online for their next console. At least GoldenEye seems to be mostly hacker free since I can actually win matches in that.

Thanks for the OP. I got a Wii rather unexpectedly for Christmas, and didn't really know anything about the game library or anything else really. I'll probably pick up Sin & Punishment in the near future, since I remember being pretty psyched about the original on the N64 before the NA release was canned. Also, any suggestions on where I can find Metroid Prime: Trilogy? If I read correctly, its been discontinued but those were games that I regret missing.

Well I have Guilty Gear AC now.

I have to say, it's a good port. Everything is there. It is identical to the PS2 version. Anyone that's worried about this version need not.

I'm waiting for my Classic Controller Pro in the mail, but in the meantime it's certainly playable with a Gamecube Controller. Just a bit more demanding to do airdashes and other -> -> commands with an analog stick. (The dpad is unusable for this game. It's way too sensitive. Keeps thinking I'm jumping).

That is not that bad, if you can't find one at a local retailer near you. I imagine the price is only going to go higher as time goes on. Remember, this is three games. 65$ isn't much more than a PS3 game.

It's more than the original MSRP, but you are still getting three games, so that might be worth the extra $15 for some collectors. Luckily, I snagged it at retail price right after it was discontinued, but it's a real bummer that people have a hard time getting it now. Otherwise, I'd recommend it to all new Wii owners.

Do you see this? This means "Have a nice day".

I (my son) just got New SMB Wii, and my wife and I played with him tonight, to find that the controller my wife was using wouldn't tilt properly, and the shake controls were completely non-responsive. Outside of that, the controller seemed to be working fine, I could navigate around the menu and point and everything else seemed to be working fine.

Is the controller (partially) broken? Is there any fix for this? I tried re-connecting it and it still has the same issues.

Also, this game makes my wife mad at me. I'm not going to play it with her anymore.
