Here are the hard stats instead of anecdotal descriptions of what the different sets are good at: Stormgale in a PM posted:Martial Arts: Crit Damage, Might, Stealth, Healing Stats Health:Health measures the amount of damange you can take before being knocked out. Enemy attacks can reduce your health. You automatically begin regenerating health when you leave combat. Power: ower is required to use super abilities and is drained as they are preformed. Power is recovered quickly when using weapon attacks to drive up the hit counter. Power returns slowly when out of combat. Defense: Defense reduces the damage received by attacks made by non-player enemies. Might: Might increases the damange caused by super powers. Restoration: Restoration increases the potency of all Health recovery effects you activate. Vitalization: Vitalization increases the potency of all Power recover effects you activate. Precision: Precision adds to the base damage caused by all weapon attacks. Toughness: Toughness reduces the damange you receive from attacks made by enemy players. Dominance: Dominance makes your control effects such as stuns harder to escape. Dominance increases the damage an enemy must take before control is broken. Why it's important to know this stuff: Precision: 10 Precision = +1 Weapon DPS Might: 4 Might = +1% increase in base damage or healing Restoration: 4 Restoration = +1% increase in base amount healed Vitalization: 4 Vitalization = +1% more power generated by any effects you cause Dominance: 2 Dominance = +1 additional damage an enemy must take before control is broken Defense/Toughness: As you gain levels more Defense/Toughness is required to maintain the same protection. Roughly 15 Defense at level 1 and 71 Defense at level 30 = +1% more damage prevention. 4outof5 fucked around with this message at Feb 22, 2011 around 21:32 |

We will be using Tr0ll's Teamspeak 3 server. Here is the connection info: http://forums.somethingawful.com/sh...hreadid=3365295 If you are playing Hero most of the Goons will be playing on the PCPvE server If you are playing Villain, most of the Goons will be playing on the PCPvP server It has not been established what people are playing on Playstation 3. Not exactly a big pvper, but I think I'm gonna give the PCPVP server a shot. Villians of course. While I have a man crush on Adam Baldwin, the Joker is too awesome to resist. Ice and Brawling will probably be my choice.

I didn't know anything about this game until 2 weeks ago, I'm supprised something that has looked this amazing gameplay wise (and voice acting wise) hasn't gotten more media time. Mark Hamill as the Joker sealed the deal on me getting this game, I don't even care if it ends up being bad because it's Mark Hamill as the Joker.

Turns out my patcher wasn't stalled. It's just so incredibly slow that it seemed to be stalled because of how long it was taking to get the 100mb necessary to update the status.

Take the coolest one you like because you can change them at higher levels. Also a lot of it can just be how easy the combos are. Also is the Beta Client patchable into the Gold release? ---- As far as Strong Power Sets goes, I didn't test them all but Ice(Storms) definitely was up there. It has an AOE "Death Grip" style move and another PBAOE. It also has a "Mind Flay" style spell which from what I could tell would basically 1 shot things. I tried out Shapeshifting for Nature and it didn't seem anywhere near as strong. This all being said I didn't get to 30 on any character and I'm sure they'll buff / change everything come release, pick what looks cool. hobocrunch fucked around with this message at Jan 11, 2011 around 05:07 |

Cross posting this from steam forums, just in case you should check to see if you need an additional gigs of patching: Okay so as you can see on the store page we won't be unlocked to play through steam BUT. If you go into your - \Steam\steamapps\common\dc universe online You will see "Launch Pad" you should open this now to update the 8gb patch added AFTER the preload available on the store page. You should pin this to your start menu so you can use it before servers go up 7am PST and the reason why before other than just being able to play the SECOND servers startup, is to subscribe. If you haven't already seen the little box to the right in the launch pad. It warns you that you are unable to play until you subscribe which will be setup to go before servers startup. SOOo for quick overview :~ SOE Will be doing maintenance supposedly at 10pm PST so hurry! ~: TO BE FIRST ON SERVERS Goto \Steam\steamapps\common\dc universe online Run LaunchPad Create or Login to Station Account Download Patch Add all info including KEY into station account Wake up before launch Enter subscription info PLAY the SECOND servers are live!

Edit: Turns out I'm just an idiot. It was just sending me a four year old account key for the EQ2 pack for some reason. Did anyone else preorder on Direct2drive? I ask because I received an email a few minutes ago thanking me for purchasing "everquest 2 all in one pack" and giving me two keys for it. I...*think* this is the DCUO stuff, there isn't a new purchase for eq2 on the transactions list or anything like that. Also can't see if it works for DCUO because the station server is "down for maitenance". It's especially irritating because SoE decided to randomly charge me $5 for a three day pass to everquest 2 a few days ago, and haven't bothered to answer my ticket about it yet. So all in all, giving me lots of hope for a smooth launch! Blorknorg fucked around with this message at Jan 11, 2011 around 09:20 |

I just got my codes from D2D, but the email properly says DCUO. It's 5 sets of 4 digits, though that probably doesn't help any since I'm sure EQ2 quests are also. Edit: Well, you being an idiot or not ( ), D2D did just start sending out keys apparently.Edit 2: Looks like the email may have been triggered by me going to D2D and hitting the "Download" button in my Account for DCUO, since I have 2 of them and I did that twice. hobocrunch posted:Aphrodite, to clarify- You will be a PVE guild on a PVP server, correct? Stupid piece of crap. Edit 2: It's going considerably faster than before, I think I'm good. Aphrodite fucked around with this message at Jan 11, 2011 around 09:40 |

That would be just stupid, from what I've gathered it seems like the pvp servers are basicly like pvp servers on WoW. You can kill people out in the world, and not only in arenas, while you can do quests aswell.

StrangerDanger posted:Plenty of PVE to be done on PVP servers... just watch your back Yeah more or less this, I suggest keeping in contact with others through vent. I'm almost certain the hero side is going to be far more populated so you're going to have to play smart while leveling up. Using your travel powers to stay out of site not getting pinned in the spawning zone. Working as a team to overcome and outwit gankers/zergers. It's not UO by any stretch but it won't be a sanitary leveling experience. Remember it's just a game, take breaks from time to time, and being on the side with bloated numbers makes players lazy ultimately. 4outof5 fucked around with this message at Jan 11, 2011 around 11:01 |

I'm fairly new to MMO's, but I was thinking of going for this instead of getting into the WoW add ons. I'm wondering what the system requirements will be to play. My laptop isn't the beefiest thing, and was running WoW fine until a patch or two ago (still need to figure that one out). If all works out, I'll be joining both groups.
