Well my weight (water?) sucks and my weights both suck (all compared to last week). Benches and squats are lower than I could do last Wednesday morning and assisted pull-ups were harder. Had a protein shake before lifting. Will post food log later. I want to evict my uterus today. Lower back pain (whether residual from cardio kickboxing or from today's weights, I don't know) on top of cramps means I need yummy things, drugs, and watching Doctor Who season 5 on bluray tonight. Back hurt a lot last night, took some meds and laid around, got back rubs from BotenAnna and went to bed early. Going out of town thursday to friday night to work in the desert at the CA/NV border and staying at lovely $15/night hotel Buffalo Bill's Casino (Primm, Nevada). Fun! Last time was a week not one night so there's that. The only food options there are a portabello burger or a REALLY overpriced buffet iceberg lettuce salad. No friday weights for me or thursday cardio but I'll get some cardio done on Friday for sure (hiking around sand dunes all day with some lifting and hammering). Food Today: 1686 Calories 106g protein 107g fat 86.3g carbs 55.64%f/24.53%p/19.83%c Elliptical 30 mins of intense intervals. 130 calories, 175 average HR, ~6 miles. Made me feel a bit better. I did not eat a bagel today. My choices here at the primm valley casinos tonight for dinner were slim. I got some tofu and veggies from some chinese place in the mall. Fried in vegetable oil problem but i tried not to eat all of it, and didn't taste that sugary. No rice, gently caress carbs! I'm gonna assume I didn't eat too many calories today cuz I'm still really hungry and the food court chinese place did not have nutritional info... Activity: Hiking around dirt for a couple hours, heavy lifting, hammering steel stakes deep into the rocky soil and pulling them back out later, for ~4 hours this morning. After working in the sun I was seeing double (couldn't write down the readings from the digital output screen onto our field log sheets any more) and sunspots for no reason, then I got a horrible headache and really nauseous... Still headachey but nausea went away after I ate some dramamine at the WORLD'S TALLEST THERMOMETER! in Baker, CA. I half thought I was having a stroke or something, for having 20/20 vision it's really unsettling not to be able to read and write numbers. I still don't know what was up, I was hydrated, COLD, not overheated, wearing sunglasses and a hat... I feel super fat today. There's no reason I should not be feeling thinner after a hard work day and eating at a deficit for weeks and exercising 6 times a week. I think I'm probably just destined to always be obese. Protein shake with half/half this morning. Weigh in: 184.4 lbs after lifting weights. Lifted weights. Did really good with carbs/calories til after 6pm when I went to a board game night at a friend's, smoked, stayed up til 2am and ate a bunch of carbs. Woke up at noon today though, so breakfast of eggs n soy chorizo and later food at the LA roller derby bout probably, so hopefully the calories will even out? Ate Some Carbs yesterday (air popped popcorn and whole wheat chapati/brown rice at a vegetarian curry place in culver city after the derby bout which RULED!). I keep loving with my weight going in and out of ketosis I hope I see something drop that doesn't look like water weight soon. I guess to get over the 5lbs or so water weight I'd have to lose >1lb a week for a month and I don't think it's been a month yet so time will tell. Estimated I ate about 1500 calories yesterday but I don't really know what was in that curried cauliflower or soy chicken tikka masala stuff but it was creamy and proteiny and cauliflower is a low carb veggie so whatev'. That's the problem with low carb/ketosis. You want it to do anything for you, you HAVE TO STAY IN IT. Period. Otherwise you're just eating too much crap. If you're having this hard a time with it I'd suggest trying a different split, like 40/40/20 protein/carbs/fat (or switch the latter two). Otherwise its just going to be an exercise in frustration.

Problem is I think I have a much bigger problem doing low fat and high protein and not eating everything ever. Like impossible to eat less than 2000 calories a day. Feelin' real fat today. Feelin' like I'm either eating too much or too little (~1500 calories a day?). Feelin' like my stomach skin is saggy though I feel like my gut is more prominent than ever. Don't think my clothes are fitting any differently. Didn't want to get out of bed this morning after a bad night of sleep and it's a cold windy day, but I did. And I lifted things, worked on my squat form (back to square one with squats really, realized how high I was cutting squats before, I can barely do bar-only ones sub parallel...), bench press, assisted pull ups. At sedentary(little or no exercise), (*1.2), its giving 2008 cal/day. The low, low cut would be 1500/day max. 20% cut would put you at 1600/day. I reserve the right to gently caress up any and all math. And I wasn't saying I consider you sedentary, but if you didn't move you'd have to eat 1600/day to lose.

2/3/2011 I got a KILLER leg cramp in the middle of the night. Didn't want to elliptical on it this morning but I did. I put a shitload of Lite salt on my zucchini last night too, after I put that salt all over my eggs in the morning too... Gotta get more in I guess. I dunno how, when I have a salad for lunch - salt on that would be disgusting. Weighed 184 lbs. Did 30 minutes fasted cardio on the intervals program on this weird incline elliptical I've never used before. Bananas are a lot of sugar. I guess if I keep getting cramps I'll switch to having a daily banana or something but I really just don't need the carbs that come with it. I gotta look up what else is high in K but not sugar. I am definitely not in ketosis any more, but still like keeping it low carb enough that I feel very satiated and my stomach's not upset. I threw my back out or something this morning. I was fine on the drive although I made the girlfriend drive. I laid down in the Hilton and couldnt roll over or get back up for a couple hours and I cried a LOT trying. Barely made it.to bathroom with her help and I sat down but it hurts so bad. Trying ibuprofen, beer, and other drugz zzz...

Went to Vegas, Spent Entire Time in Suite, Not With Hookers. Didn't even see a slot machine til we were leaving and went in a CVS for stuff. Today at least I could get myself up out of bed, an improvement upon saturday, when I had to get wheelchaired around a museum. I could NOT stand up straight yesterday, but this morning i walked to the kitchenette by myself. Ate so many carbs this weekend. Still tried to keep myself under like 2000 calories a day but i'm definitely afraid to go on the scale this week. Going to see how I feel about lifting stuff that doesn't stress my back tomorrow morning and maybe using the gym's hot tub... Not sure what i should do until/after my back feels stronger and I can walk normally again. Should i not try to use it at all, or should i start doing more back exercises...

Thanks Daniel365. I wish a physical therapist didn't cost a billion dollars because I honestly don't know what's best to do for my back to strengthen it but not strain it. I guess I shouldn't do deadlifts from now on which sucks cuz they were fun and the heaviest thing I could do. I did drive myself to work today, although now I am bored and wishing I'd have stayed home and rested more. Couldn't drag myself up at 5:30 this morning so maybe we'll go to the gym and work out arms at least and then use the spa tonight. I think a gained weight this weekend too. Ugh. Guess I should cut back on my calories because I won't really be active now. I wish I could tell by now what really works best for weight loss for me. I've been dealing with the same ~5 lb up and down window for months and months of low carb, binging, and ketogenic low carb. I know this sucks to say, but I might try slightly higher carb. I did keto for a month, lost no weight, and then switched to 60-80g of carbs, and I've been losing more steadily now. I hope your back feels better soon! Edit: on the back note and strengthening it, deadlifting light can actually help that, but only once it stops hurting. Icing it will help, and lying on my back with my knees folded always felt really nice when I was more overweight and my back hurt all the time.

You obviously keep track of your food. Its either your diet or your routine. Stress doesn't help anything either. I do ~100g/day for carbs for what its worth.

Could very well be stress, this stresses me out. I was wondering if not tracking my food would help because I wouldn't be able to stress about my intake, but then I'd probably eat too much. Weighed in 187 lbs at the gym tonight. Ughuhguhguhguhguhgh. My girlfriend told me not to weigh myself for a month. Maybe I'll try that, but it's really hard not to just step on the scale and see out of curiosity. Limpin around today but still did some bench presses, leg presses, and assisted pull ups. Didn't do any crunches or hypers cuz well i can't. Soaking after in the spa felt good. Probably won't do cardio tomorrow as walking/running/any twisting of my hips hurts a lot. For what it's worth, I just got back from a 6 day vacation, and I managed not to gain any weight, despite saying 'gently caress it' half way through and eating all the carbs (ALL OF THEM). I found that carbs now fill me up really quickly, so maybe I was eating less or something, but now I'm back I'm going to be messing around with my carb intake to try and figure out what my body likes best...so maybe adjusting your carb intake might not hurt your weight loss either? I hear you on the weighing thing though, I weigh myself every day, I can't help myself - the curiosity is too much. Also, I hope your back feels better soon - I get some hardcore sciatica sometimes and it is the worst. There's nothing like having your significant other dress you and take you to the bathroom in between bouts of lying on your stomach and trying to remain absolutely still so it doesn't hurt

I really don't think weighing yourself is a good idea. You drag your rear end out of bed at ungodly hours and have done an incredible job of managing your diet and every time you step on a drat scale it's like all that hard work melts away and you become a ball of self loathing.
