I am currently sitting on one of those terrible plastic Ikea chairs (the kind where you buy the bottom separately [wheels or no wheels]). I bought it because my girlfriend uses one of the wheeled versions and didn't want me to ruin our vibe with some kind of goon throne.

This thread makes me depressed because the message I'm picking up is that you can't really get a chair worth a drat unless you're willing to spend some serious money. Just so we're clear, I'm considering a few hundred dollars serious money. My opinion is skewed by my current financial situation -- I recognize that it makes sense that a chair, like a mattress, isn't something you want to skimp on.

That being said, I am still in this loving Ikea seat (the Snille). With that in mind, does anyone know of any sub-$100 chairs? I know that these chairs suck in the long term, but I'm more worried about the thing I'm currently sitting on. I'm looking for an immediate improvement on my current situation and not necessarily the chair I'll be using for the rest of my life.

Anything is better than my current poo poo.

Help. :(

I hear you. I'm 6'6 (34" inseam) and I can't find a decent chair for the life of me. At this point I'm pondering if it'll be easier to stand while online. My current Office Depot chair is loving with my lower back.

At this point it would be cheaper and easier if I just went to a junkyard, ripped out a driver side seat from an old luxury car, and attached a base to it. And I'm about a few days from doing so just so I can not have a loving backache when I'm online.

Taking something from the page of Top Gear, eh?

It looks like other people have done this before. You should do it, let us know how it goes :)

Holy poo poo, there's a goddamn article on it?

I may have a project for that. But it'll have to wait until I find a seat without mildew. This summer has been too humid to make that easy.

Off topic, but do you have bandy little legs or something? I'm 6'5 and wear 36/38 depending on the cut.

I don't think so. My legs are pretty muscular. Maybe I have a long torso.
