As much as I want to see the space mexicans get their revenge on, I have to agree with Zaodai and vote:
C) Ignore the mysterious contract and return to Atreus as-ordered,
but for a slightly different reason.

Blood for blood is dandy, but I want some variety in the PTNverse. Let's start a few more storylines before we wrap them up in beautiful revenge (against space chineses).

It's kind of sad that I never noticed my namesake was one of the scrappiest MechWarriors this side of the Draconis March.

But as it stands he's probably telling the clanners not to rough him up because his dad owns a dealership and calling them faggots because they run a dry campaign.

Speaking as the voice of destructive reason, don't bet on the OpFor units taking the bait. They've been real good about not going in between city blocks if they don't have jump jets. They also just witnessed one of you go kaboom so I think they'd be more than eager to keep their distance.

Walk away from the refinery, blow up the refinery, take out the rest of the red on the map (and the train) and go hug that big triangular building on the west side of the map.

Send yourself out with a bang.

With all the negative talk about Heavy Lasers, I always thought they were a great way to keep a triple strength myomer mech running hot enough to benefit from it.

Speaking of which, I find it hard to believe that no one has designed a Heavy/Assault melee mech with HLas and TMS. Does that sound too outlandish?

Since the griffin is in its -1N config, I'm fairly sure it would try to get away from the target for the obvious reasons of it being made of EXPLODIUM and also because it's based around long range. But damage to a Home Guard unit is still damage, and that'll hurt.

What I'm most concerned about is: If the refinery doesn't top you guys out at 30 million C-bills, how are you going to safely get the rest? The train is surrounded by residential buildings, the park is a shooting gallery, and the only way that both Valk and Assassin can make it to ye olde skycraper in cover is through a block of residential buildings.

Difficult decisions, indeed.

Every part of me wants that building to get its supports taken out and fall into the park, crushing everybody.

Is this feasible in game terms? Or do hexes just drop straight down regardless of height and connecting structures?

I didn't really get into Battletech until I was older and by then all the novels had been taken off the shelves. The only one I actually have is The Hunters by Thomas Gressman and I've read it three times over the past month because I'm so bored.

8. Remember to focus fire and coordinate movement. 6 on 5 is pretty tricky, so you don't want to make mistakes or leave room for error in terms of downing a mech the turn it needs to be downed. You WILL need to work together to remove targets at any reasonable and useful speed. Use the irc channel to discuss plans, if you need to.

You beat me to the punch. Sticking relatively together will also help should any elementals show up to ruin the shooting party.

Since PTN highlighted the 'Pressure' rule, it might be worth it to pull a little Rope-A-Dope before concentrating your fire. Once you break Zellbrigen, they might do the same and before you know it, you'll all be going down one at a time under massed fire.

Did the Lola III survive and can it communicate with the ground teams? After all, it's at the jump point, not in orbit. Using the books, it can take upwards of ten minutes to send a signal. All fluff aside, I think that's PTN's call.

I guess I was wrong about it not being in a book! But here's my extrapolation:

--It can shoot up to 6 rounds per turn
--Heat should be like a standard AC/20, 7/shot
--Each additional shot increases chance for gun to jam. It can be unjammed, but I think you can unjam it one turn and then fire the subsequent turn.

It's a murder cannon.

Question to the assembled: I am thinking it might be good for us frontal elements to hold position (well, probably walk forward 1 in my case) for one turn to let the jump jetting left flank and our slowpokes catch up before we go over the top

Is this a good or terrible plan

Tactically speaking, I would suggest the faster mechs move into position on the edge of the bluffs they are running over (one more turn of movement). Pinning the Clanners in the valley with lack of cover would make it a deathtrap. Once the bluffs are secured and the heavier mechs have caught up, CrabGuard can flank to either the left or right, using JumpJet mechs to jump the river and flank, or using the hill in the center of the valley as cover to come up to the HPG plateau.

This is actually a pretty good idea, aside from the fact that it would not work out politically. A two front war is still a two front war, and with the Lyran part FedCom barely holding on and the Fed side (eventually) having to push units to save the Draconis Combine, The FWL's only competition comes from the Capellan Confederation, with the southern rump of FedCom ripe for the taking.

But this is all speculation. Let's focus on what's at issue here: Clanners curbstomping space mystics and vice versa.
