I was there. It was fun. When Parts Kit mentioned Drav, I forgot to make the obligatory "Drav's Wife" joke. Shooting in the snow was a lot of fun - got to shoot my M44 in something close to it's original environment ( ). Now everything's downstairs, hosed off with brake cleaner waiting to get cleaned.

Not Nipsy Russell posted:Please tell me everything about that kukri. http://forums.somethingawful.com/sh...6#post412472647 Short-short version is it is a Himalayan Imports "Villager" that cost about $65ish shipped, but didn't come with a sheath. I cleaned it up a tad with some sandpaper and a buffing wheel, just enough to get it to feel nice but not remove all the tool marks, stained it a wee bit, and threw together a sheath. HI lists them from time to time on Blade Forums, which is apparently a very annoying forum so I just made an account to view the HI section & get the info to order one. They also list blems pretty regularly, sometimes at pretty significant discounts.

I'm in Knox too. I went to VPRC exactly one time, the range officers (aka oldguys they got to man the range) were awful dicks to me. Also their hours are super weird. I've been going up to Norris to the range in the watershed that's run by the PD, it's pretty cool, but sometimes you get some crazies and it's best to just leave.

That hadn't been my experience with them, but thanks for telling me about it. I'd ask if it was the old guy, but that's all of their RO's. How do you get to the Norris range? this is the first I've ever heard of it. edit: There's quite a bit of space between John Sevier range and Norris, would Coal Creek be a decent midpoint? Do you consider it too pricey to shoot there? Shithead Deluxe fucked around with this message at Mar 16, 2013 around 21:36 |

Coal creek actually isn't too terrible price wise, $15 per lane + like $5 more per extra person for a max of 3 or 4, I can't remember off the top of my head. It just suffers from poor ventilation and it's generally pretty busy. The employees/storefront have actually gotten quite a bit better now that the WALL O'GUNS got put in at Gander and Academy came to town. Coal Creek is also pistol calibers only, which is nice cause it's loud enough already. Here's the directions to Norris. Other than ORSA which charges like $100 fee + a seemingly quite a few hoops you have to jump through, Norris is the only place other than private land that I know of to shoot long guns, aside from John Sevier. Norris is $40 like July 1 - Jun 30 per year or $20 per session, you actually drive by the Fire/Police station on the way to the range. Most of my problem with John Sevier was the weirdo hours that they have the range open, I honestly don't blame the old RO's for thinking we didn't know poo poo, they just could have been more welcoming.

Not too shabby, and about the same drive as CCA, just north instead of west.

OP updated with new date and two potential attendees. This is the weekend before Bonnaroo for those that might affect. Also, my daughter is due first week of June so I'm going to say probably not but hey, you never know.

One month warning. I'm low on 9mm (who isn't m i rite?) but have some 10mm, .45LC, and .22 laying around. That being said I may just skip this shoot if only 3 people are going to show up. It's a bit of a drive for me after all.

One week away guys. I'll definitely be bringing my new S&W 10 and G34 so 9mm and .38 are good things to bring if you'd like to try them.

I'll be limited to plinking with my .22 most likely this shoot unless walmart has a few boxes of 9mm for me to pickup (they never do) because I can't be dropping internet order type money for ammo right now. I do still plan to make it though.
