Yeah, it makes sense when you think of it as invisible loot you never see drop. 5k is pretty standard for the nicholas items.

Once you get to end game content, 5k isn't that hard to make in HM

If you have money and don't have access to an appropriate farming build or just don't want to bother, it can be perfectly worthwhile to spend the 5k to just get the gifts outright. The generally accepted value of a Gift of the Traveler is about 4k or so, so if you think about it that way the five gifts are worth much more than the 5k you spend to just buy them.

I paid 10k for a set of items once because it simply wasn't worth my time farming as my current farming method nets me 55k/hour. On top of that I sell off my 5 Gifts every week for 20k, so I still make a profit in the end.

Also I have absolutely no idea how people can stand going for maxed titles. I attempted to do the Skill Hunter track today to add titles to my HoM, but in the end it felt like it would take way too long and I gave up. (Would take me about another 30 - 35 hours to finish it) How is it that people are able to call titles like Legendary Vanquisher or Legendary Cartographer 'easy' is way beyond me. I do not even want to imagine how long it takes to get titles like Legendary Defender of Ascalon or Saviour of the Luxons/Kuzricks.

I really, really wouldn't recommend starting in Prophecies. Although some people actually do find it fun so who knows, maybe you'll like it. I know I wouldn't want to though. It's long, painful and boring.

Basically, start in Prophecies if you have a high tolerance for tedium and want to take as long as possible to level up and get skills, Factions if you have a short attention span and want to get to max level as fast as humanly possible (and make some decent starting cash), and Nightfall for heroes and the best quests to introduce the game mechanics.

Very much agreed. I wish there were more HoMable titles that didn't involve dozens or hundreds of hours of grinding to get to.

55k/hour is pretty high up on the farming scale and it is actually pretty close to what most high-end farming teams make. From what I gathered from the forums and some guilds, a lot of veteran players who farm rare drops in Elite areas only earn about half this amount. Even then the amount they earn is dependant on how lucky they are to get good drops.

Anyway I do it by farming Glints Challenge. One run takes about 22 minutes total and is guranteed to give a Cloth of the Brotherhood worth 10k at the end of it. I do it with 3 heroes and 3 henchmen, as well as a second account that just AFKs for the reward.

You can also do speed clears for money. You can easily make 50k an hour in the Underworld if you're good at it. Some times a lot more, if you get lucky with the drops.

In my opinion, Vanguisher is one of the few titles worth doing. To me it seems like an actual accomplishment rather than a farmfest/grind. The best part is, it helps you in other titles (Cartographer and Allegiance/Reputation) if you're interested in those too.

Vanquisher would be the single best thing in the game, to me, if they updated it so that you could explore a vanquished area with no monsters, provided everyone in your party has vanquished it. A man can dream.

That sounds like the 55 monk build, which was around way back when it was just prophecies. Dunno if it still works, but it basically revolved around this one monk enchantment that made it so that incoming damage is capped at 10% of your max health. So then you load your armor up with a bunch of superior runes for the negative health penalty, which maxes out at 55hp. Then you slap a bunch of regen abilities on yourself and you're effectively invulnerable to a bunch of damage types because you regen way faster than anything can dish out 5 points of damage. Health degen screws that up royally, though, as does enchantment removal. Anybody farming fissure with that build had to know which enemies to avoid,

Well I bought Trilogies and am starting up again. The reason why I asked was because I kinda wanted to know which class was in demand for farming since my goal is to grind out HoM points. I started a monk since I think that's a pretty safe bet.

You got Eye of the North too, right? Because that's the only way to access the HoM. And if you have all three you should have a bunch of character slots (unless that only happens if you bought them individually), so go hog wild with characters and find one you like. If you're intent on building a character purely for farming purposes, this will probably be useful. Keep in mind that basically every one of these builds I've looked at require eotn skills, including ones you only get once you're a certain reputation with a particular faction. So it may be a little while until you're able to get into the full swing of farming, especially if you don't have all that many elite skills unlocked.

I'm pretty much unable to do effective farming because I haven't finished eotn yet and don't have most of the elite skills called for in these builds. But I'll also be without a computer for the next several months so it's a moot point.

Erinyes

Ironically, I haven't gotten EotN yet, but I figure once I finish getting the character to 20 and finishing out Nightfall or something, that would be the best time to get it. Unless what you're saying is that if I get any achievements before EotN, they won't apply even after I get it, and will have to do them over again?

No, there's nothing in the HoM that's only tracked once you have it unlocked. They're mostly title-related and anything that isn't is unlocked when you visit and poke the appropriate tapestry. But you may have trouble with serious farming without the skills, since there are a bunch of really powerful PvE skills you get through faction quests. And if it makes a difference, EotN has been way more fun than either Prophecies or Factions (I don't have Nightfall). It's stupid cheap on Newegg, 6 dollars or something. But yeah, finishing Nightfall first or at least getting to 20 is probably a good idea.

You can use skills like Balthazar's Spirit, Essence Bond, Mantra of Earth, and Storm Chaser to basically give yourself infinite energy. They trigger when you get hit, and give you 1-4 energy every time. People use them to make it possible to spam expensive skills constantly.

Most professions have something they can do to make lots of cash quickly. But the best? Ritualists are probably best for making money solo. Assassins are definitely best for making money with a group.

Yeah, I completely spaced that he could be referring to PvP, in which case that's all true. In PvE however, warriors aren't that hot for damage, Elementalists as damage are virtually unheard of, and SoS ritualists do extremely respectable damage.

On the note of paragons, I more or less agree with you. Critical may have been a strong word, but, apart from most endgame meta team builds, imbagons are incredibly useful and nearly always welcome in a party. While they are definitely not a build-enthusiast's dream class, they can be engaging to play, especially when you have low Faction rank and need to use skills like flurry to keep consistent uptime on Save Yourself!.

Plus they're on the table for a class overhaul, so that should be fun.

Basically, when you're shopping for a specific skill, I highly recommend going on the wiki and seeing if it's available from a hero skill trainer. If it is, get it there, always. Even if it's for your own character, because the hero skill trainers also give the skill to the character using them on top of unlocking it for heroes account-wide.

Buying skills using Hero Points will unlock them for all heroes globally and also for your own use, but only for that character.

So let's say you have a monk and buy a monk skill using Hero Points, all your heroes for all your characters will have access to it, and your monk will also now have it.

However, if you have a second monk character, it won't have it but its heroes will.
