For 3 I just got Revea and Gig. I got Revea first and then the battle to get Gig after that turned into a battle just between the two of them. In Disgaea 2, how do you get Axel cellphones? Do you just have to be really lucky with the bonus gauge, or do cellphone stores in tougher item world levels have them? I have never found a cellphone store with an Axel phone yet. I found a couple of them just playing through the main story the first time, but I want more because Axel owns.

So uh, if anyone cares, Disgaea 4 has a preorder page on Amazon, with a release date of end of August, and seems to be the standard price: $49.99 edit: Yeah, I figured the date may change, but I wasn't sure if $49.99 was a big deal, I don't remember what 3 came out at. I just started Disgaea 2, and man this whole beginning of the game thing is rough. The randomly generated item world levels seem a whole lot more extreme than any of the ones I encountered in Disgaea 1. Specifically, height differences are insane. Immediately having fun and appreciating all the nice little improvements they made: 24 items in the backpack. Separate vendor for hands and misc. items. Quick bonus gauge filling.

D2 PSP is the best Disgaea in the english market. I don't know how good D4 will be, though.

However it's also nice because you can use characters with high jump ability and put them on higher areas to keep them out of the enemies' reach. Gahh, tap F5 a few times until that's not so blurry.

Scalding Coffee posted:There is nothing wrong with giving your people shoes. I know that it eats up your potential damage, but those with 4 move and 15 jump are liabilities. Yeah, the problem I had with shoes in Disgaea 1 is that none of them increase movement enough. In a lot of cases all it really does is make the slow people comparable to quick un-shod people. As I'm finding legendary Angel's Shoes, though, I am using them as a vehicle for specialists since the shoes provide something you can't really get on any other type of item, and specialists eventually outpace any benefit you could ever derive from base armor. In Disgaea 2 all the shoes I'm encountering are still crappy.

It does make sense that most shoes only provide one move unless you put an engine on them. You would be better off getting the Accelerator(?) from a special map and level that monster.

I've been slowly setting up a party to run with in Disgaea 1 from a new game. I'm trying to have each of the weapons eventually represented. Here's what I've got so far: Laharl (Sword) Laharl's Pupil (Female Martial Artist, Fist) Etna (Spear) Etna's Pupil (Female Cleric, Bow) I just picked up Flonne, and I'm not sure what I want to do with her and her pupil. Here's a couple of plans: 1. Give Flonne a Gun. Have her Pupil be a Star Mage with one of each of the starting elemental spells. 2. Give Flonne a Staff, and have her be the mage. Her Pupil will be a Scout with a Gun. Not sure what the requirements for scout are.

I did bow-Flonne in every playthrough of Disgaea 1 and I always felt like I was missing out -- isn't her natural aptitude S in staves? As to unlocking scouts, check GameFAQs. EllyEllyElly's guide and Salah Al Din's are incredible resources full of information you didn't know you didn't know.

Thanks to a gift of 50k hell from Hoggmeiser in Disgaea 2, my party is rapidly starting to own the item world thanks to being kitted out with gear I shouldn't have yet. My strategy of buying out every cell phone store I come across has paid off handsomely. Thanks to my familiarity with how Disgaea works, I've set my party up a lot better initially with the proper use of pupils.

I'm currently in House of Ordeals 4 in Disgaea 3 doing some level grinding but i'm a bit confused by the exp+100% tiles there. Logic would tell me that it's my guy that has to be standing on the tile to get double experience, but it seems more or less designed for big bang spamming. On top of that it doesn't really feel like i'm levelling up that fast. I've got one character at level 2000 with level 4 big bang (and the most expensive fist gravitywhatsits equipped) and the character will just barely kill the level 950 enemies that are on there. I'm following a levelling guide that says to actualy do this until i reach level 5000, but i assumed that it would be a hell of a lot faster. I'm usually only gaining about 10 levels at a time, for instance.

You have to get some statisticians, max them out and fill your item slots with them if your want your levels to jump in the hundreds range.

From what i'm reading, in order to get those i have to first get some pirates, then steal their ship and begin reverse pirating right? I've read something about item duping too in order to prevent you from having to try and harvest statiticians over and over again.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm still kinda learning what I'm doing here, so the comments are helpful. I think I'll be going with giving Flonne a staff and three mage pupils. Get her one of each of their elemental spells, get her 200 mana, get the girls to level five, have Flonne make a 200 mana Star Mage. Ditch the other girls, get the Star Mage one of each of the elemental spells. That should be good for magic for a while. Laharl and Etna are getting close to having enough mana for another pupil each, and my Female Brawler has enough for a pupil of her own. Is it better to give Laharl and Etna another pupil, or should I give the current pupils some pupils of their own? I guess the question is, when the Brawler's Pupil levels up, and gains stats, will Laharl gain stats from the Brawler's resulting stat gain?

At lower levels in Disgaea games my preference is to pile everything I've got onto one character who can clean house and open the door to powerleveling all my other characters. After a certain point mana becomes irrelevant and you can go around creating new characters all over the place, so you can set your team up however you want. edit: the pupil benefit question is answered better than I can by this FAQ, and Salah al Din's FAQ is probably good for virtually everything else.
