I'm not exactly sure what the numbers mean, but you can have No custom pirates, Low, Medium and High. You choose everytime you enter the item world after unlocking pirates yourself.

Yeah, it's not as bad as I made it out to be, when you go into a item with a connection it asks you if you want to turn enemy pirates on, and if so level cap yourself (None) (Low Rank Pirates) (Middle Rank Pirates) (High Rank Pirates) You can have friendly pirates show up too, like if I set mine to friendly they'd show up to help you, sadly they're out for blood.

All right, so I just unlocked map editing, huzzah. Turns out you can't fight on your own map except in test mode, so once you get the CP to buy say, Exp +50%, it can be worth it since you can plunk down say, six of those and an ally boost or something, but you also have to have something worth killing. That said, anyone know of any good maps for grinigng around level 25 or so? Or is going to put one up? I put one up, but it's mostly a test with 3 Level 1 catsabers and a 70% exp boost. I'll have to make something better when I can more reliably level things up, just for that grinding. And you DO get to keep items exp from testing your map though, so once you have something worth killing over and over, you're set as far as grinding goes.

Don't forget to capture pirates to torture them into telling you where their treasure is so you can upgrade your ship. You need to have one of those buildings placed first though! I'm gonna try to get a statistician today from this mystery thing and figure out how I'm gonna get 300 of it

All the innocent boost does, I think, is increase chance of them appearing, or new ones appearing. So 9 times out of 10, you'd be better off leveling your items. Also, when do you get character world? I'm in chapter 5 and haven't seen an obvious way to get access.

I think you need to find Mao (Blacksmith) in the Item World Mystery Rooms and have him "customize" a monster to enable Magichange. No wait, that was to unlock Magichange 2. I think you need to have completed Axel's Story. You get it somewhere in Chapter 2 or so of his story.

Yeah, I have the PSP version. I guess I'll just keep on playing through the story then. I've been doing more item worlding than the main campaign up till now, but it seems like most of the exploitable stuff isn't really available until postgame. I kind of wish the portable versions of the game had a 'standby' mode where I could just temporarily save in the middle of a battle though. Item world grinding isn't really very plausible to just pick up and play. (and I leave my PSP for days at a time sometimes so the built-in PSP standby would drain the battery).

Reincarnating at higher levels gives more bonus stats at level 1, yes, and I believe reincarnating a Level 9999 gives the most innate level 1 stats. I've read that Fenrich and DESCO are the best power levelers in this game. So with 180,000 or whatever the max is, with a reincarnation of level 9999, you get the highest potential base stats.

Well the "stored" levels is what matters and you can reincarnate as often as you want. So it doesn't really hurt. Actually if its like D2/3 you get +5% to each aptitude for the first 5 (up to 25%) for story non generic (story) characters, which can really make early reincarnations overpowered if you have some good gear.

I really don't have anything special like a legendary testament, managers, or statisticians. This mystery innocent is being really stubborn and to be honest even if i get one statistician I still have no idea how I will turn that into 300. I also have a hard candy that has a Manager in it but honestly mana is not a serious problem right now. [One character has 20,000+]

Don't worry too much about statisticians until you unlock high tier accessories from shopkeepers. High tier accessories usually come with managers so you can work on managers and statisticians at the same time. For the Mystery Innocent, you should try and get either Cat Burglar or Mode Changer unique innocents; those are the real jackpots. Having Puppy Paw acting as an armor really breaks the game.

Mode Changer innocent the same effect as the Chicken Hat in D3. It grants immunity against ATK on odd turns and INT on even turns. Mode Changer is extremely useful if you plan on getting the Tournament mode DLC in the future. You can also abuse Mode Changer to capture maxed out LoC enemies by making yourself immune to base panel damage. If you plan on permanently taking #1 on the leaderboard by maxing out all your stats to 99,999,999, capturing LoC mobs will allow you to max stats without serums. Clearing 80% of the X-Dimension maps, you also get an unique item that comes with the Mode Changer innocent.
