Regular amount of mana gained is equal to the level of the enemy killed until level 100. After the enemy is level 100, the amount is penalized at certain level intervals until level 400.
Example:
Level 60 enemy = 60 mana gained
Level 120 enemy = 120/2 = 60 mana gained
Level 300 enemy = 300/2 = 150 mana gained
Level 500 enemy = 500/4 = 125 mana gained
After level 400, the division factor never goes up again so /4 is the highest penalty.

Edit: Also, Prinnies give double mana.

I'm up for the DLC sharing. So I'll take the last slot.
1. Baram
2. FrantzX
3. Agnostic watermelon
4. Ornamented Death
5. Zettace

Who's going to be the buyer?
We can save some money if the buyer is in an area with a low tax rate.

You can also send they money as a gift.
If you send the money as a gift, paypal will automatically include the fees in the money sent.
Example:
I send $10. Paypal will deduct $10 + fee from my paypal account.

Edit: I live in Canada so my tax is 13%

You have to send it as a "gift" under the "personal" heading.
Ornamented Death probably only got $9.90 from you due to the fee.

Another Edit:

Sanctum posted:

Is there a limit to how much statisticians can increase exp gain?
The limit is the hard cap on how many you can stick on equipment. So at 8 slots per equipment and 4 equipment slots, you can use level statisticians (or another specialists). If these statisticians are all max level then you will get 9600% more exp.

vForgot about the hard cap in Disgaea 1. I guess I really am an idiot.

I just bought Digaea 3, but google mentions some DLC that's out for it. I modded my console though, so i've no access to it. Am i really missing anything? I've read that it's mostly stuff that's already on the disk so i'm not that bothered about it, but i am wondering if it's any good stuff or not.
It adds a quite a few new characters (mainly cameos), adds a whole new chain of voiced story line missions and a few gimmick game modes.

My personal opinion is that it was totally worth $10 (PSN Sharing).

You have to get some statisticians, max them out and fill your item slots with them if your want your levels to jump in the hundreds range.

Remember: Max bonus on statisticians is 300, but it does stack with the Exp tiles already on the board. So if I've got the math down you're getting 2x from the tiles and then another 3x from the statisticians for 6x total bonus.
Disgaea 3 removed this cap. The actual cap is now just how many you can fit on your equipment; meaning you can get up to 9600% more exp.

Welp. That really kills my enthusiasm. I think I'll pass on DLC this time around unless a gameshare group pops up. Because thinking about paying $40 bucks again for quite possibly the same DLC doesn't sit well with me.
Same here, I only gameshared the DLC pack for the Rasberyl episodes. It's pretty outrageous what they charge for a single character model and a few lines of voice acting considering it probably costs very little to actually make and they are able to sell the DLC at no extra cost to the company after the initial programming. In my opinion, a character should only be $25 cents at most.

I'm guessing the DLC price increase is because Japan has a stupid system which they use for selling anime where they think they'll make more money by selling it for a high price to a few people rather than selling it cheap to many people.

Character levels in Disgaea don't really matter when compared to equipment. Once you get a few maxed out items with max level specialists then even your level 1 characters can destroy anything in it's path. Grinding items is much more beneficial then grinding characters plus equipment can be moved around unlike the level of a character.

Is Disgaea 3 you can level a character from level 1 to 9999 in only a few seconds.

The time it takes to get to that point is a few hundred hours though.

The price for the Disgaea 4 bundles have been announced.

Normal game is $49.99 USD
Premium is $59.99 USD and comes with a mini-Fuuka figurine and art book.
Super Premium is $119.99 USD and is the Premium bundle plus 9 larger figurines (including another Fuuka).

All (NIS online store preordered?) versions come with a OST as well. Also, Super Premium is a NIS online store exclusive I believe.

Personally, I'm going to get the Premium edition since Super Premium's shipping would make it way too expensive (I live in Canada) and it's already at a very high price point so I'm not willing to spend anymore than $120+tax.

Edit: Fixed some info.

As much as I always go for the best special edition, I just don't see how 8 figurines is worth the extra $60. Are they some kind of premium action figures or made of expensive material or something?
It's 9 figures plus a mini-Fuuka figure. The mini-figure is part of the premium edition then you get 9 larger figures for the super premium. Figures in general are just expensive.

The figures themselves retailed in Japan for about ~70 USD (or at least that's what the NIS site says as it's retail price). You can pick up the figures for ~4500Yen (~$55USD) off Amazon.jp though. However, shipping makes it more expensive than paying $60 extra for the super premium bundle.

That's really disappointing to hear. I'm probably going to get just the game then.

Edit: It makes sense though. The nendoroid bundle in Japan cost 9500 Yen (More than $100 USD) and the North American Premium bundle only being $60 was a huge giveaway. I should of noticed it earlier.
Also I didn't know that the Nendroid was actually taller then the trading figures (65mm vs 60mm). I guess I was influenced by all the sources calling it a "petit" nendoroid while the trading figures were just called figures.

I'm playing Disgaea 3 right now, and I'm feeling like I'm constantly too low on Mana to do anything. I have to spend it to do stuff in the Dark Assembly, I have to spend it to buy skills, I have to spend it to upgrade my skills, and I have to spend it to get evilities.

Should I be trying to conserve my mana and only buying stuff that I really need, or do the enemies past the third chapter give out incredible amounts of mana and I'll just naturally accumulate as much as I need as long as I use my characters?
Take advantage of the club that gives 50% of the mana gained to characters seated next to them. If you surround one of your strong characters with four members of the club then you can easily gain 200% more mana per kill.

It's totally not worth $50 unless you really enjoy getting a whole bunch of characters you'll probably not even use.
However, like someone else said, $10 is a decent price for the whole pack if you gameshare.

When you subdue an innocent, you are now able to move that innocent around to different items as much as you want.
Other things you might want to know about innocents:
-Innocents you subdue double in level.
-Items have at default, 4 innocent slots but this can be increased to 8 if you level up the item in the item world.
-Innocents of the same type can be merged together, up to a certain level, to save on slots.
-"Cloning" innocents is very helpful but you'll need a Puppy Paw Stick (You get one post game).

Zettace
Nov 30, 2009

Most innocents have a hard cap and the ones that don't do anything above a certain level are the exception so I wouldn't worry about over leveling just yet. The basic stat upgrade innocents give you full benefits up to their hard cap and those are the ones you should be aiming for early game.

Disgaea's post story game is the "encounters that require such power". After the story is complete, there are many new options open to you (maxing items in the item world, reverse pirating, defeating Baal, etc) in which you'll regularly meet enemies with levels in the thousands to even max levelled enemies.
