So I'm looking to go to an Orioles game today, but their tickets seem so much more expensive than the Nationals (I'm in DC). Does anyone know a cheap day-of option for getting O's tickets? I'm hoping for sub-$10 tickets if possible, I don't care where I sit.

Stubhub forever. I got a $15 ticket to the Phillies game in section 120 behind home plate last night just because it was kind of rainy and close to game time (about 2 hours prior)

What's the origin of 'Let's Go The Bucs Bitch'?
|
| # ? May 1, 2012 04:18 |

I think it was Mornacale adapting TFF poster DO YALL WANT A HAM's (who has since namechanged, unfortunately) avatar, which featured the text 'let's go the browns bitch', to baseball. The Browns and Pirates are both incredibly inept franchises so I believe Mornacale saw a parallel in the cycle of fan despair. But Pittsburgh also has the Steelers, so gently caress Pittsburgh.

You're just mad because Pittsburgh might have a nicer park than your Giants.

I just found a pair of $16 tickets in the lower reserve for their Saturday game versus the Rays in two weeks on stubhub. You could probably find a pretty good deal there right now.

My parents grew up in Pittsburgh and we still have a lot of family there. Every time we go to visit, if there's a game on my Dad and I try to make a trip out. That park is loving amazing. The perfect setting for it as well, nestled in the middle of the rivers. Jesus it's a shame that they can't field a team to save their lives.

So, I'm listening to the Braves game and logging in to SAS for the Gameday thread. Problem: no Gameday thread! I'd set one up, but I'm having trouble copying the day's schedule off of MLB.com. The closest I got was a really low-res PDF...is there some simple step I'm overlooking to grab that off of the site?

If by some chance a catcher drops a called third strike, can the runner still try to advance to first?
|
| # ? May 7, 2012 21:00 |

Yep, dropped 3rd strike rule. The catcher must complete the play and control the ball to actually get the batter out. You see it often in minor leagues and its really common in high school.

unless 1st base is occupied by a runner with fewer than 2 outs then yes, he becomes a runner and bolts for 1st.

There is no restriction on it being a swinging strike. You can run to first on a called strike as well.

Storm posted:If by some chance a catcher drops a called third strike, can the runner still try to advance to first? Yes. A strike out isn't always a guaranteed putout. A batter can try to advance to first on a dropped third strike if it's empty, or if there are two outs. This is also why the MLB record for most strikeouts by a pitcher an inning is 4.

Hey guys, I watched Moneyball two nights ago and enjoyed it. Later that night I had a dream about baseball, I don't remember the particulars but it was fantastic and I woke up feeling really good about the sport. I want to become a fan, and my choices are: The Royals (born and grew up in Lawrence/KC, until the age of 8) The Nationals (have been living in northern Virginia for the past 12 years, went to high school/college here and work here) I know enough to know the Royals are one of the worst professional sports franchises around, both as far as history/prestige and current performance. The Nats have virtually no history, and are playing really great with tons of young stars and future potential. I want to be a Nats fan, I can actually go to the games and I have an opportunity to get on the ground floor of being a fan of a franchise. It'll be fun, and since the only other two professional teams I follow are the Chiefs and Wizards, it would be nice to root for a winner instead of a soul-crushing perennial loser. However, I went to a Royals game once as a little kid and I sorta liked/was aware of George Brett growing up, and I feel like it's my true team.
