Isn't that the second time a person was killed falling from that area? How does Texas not at least put a net there or something?

Pretty sure that the next day, some dude was carted out of the Rangers' park after getting beaned by a Hamilton line drive foul ball. Dude just couldn't get a break with the whole inadvertent injuring fans problem.

I don't really have any alcohol or drug problems that I know of, but having luck like Hamilton did last year would certainly be enough to drive to to test it.

I'm wondering if anyone has found a way to get around the blackout restrictions of MLB.tv? I saw a few articles on it, but they are a few years old.

I think he is the third person to fall over a rail at the Ballpark in Arlington. The first one was when the park opened and some drunk lady fell over a railing in right field, maybe that same section. They raised the railings after that one. The second fall I remember was also a fireman, but he fell off the second deck, and landed on people.

Best way is to use an international proxy for some where not in North America. It's ridiculous easy. It works for everything in the regular season and post season. If I'm watching games that day I try to post a working proxy in the GDT. Joe Don Baker fucked around with this message at Feb 4, 2012 around 18:14 |

So if I'm in the Cincinnati area and buy MLB.TV, will all Reds games be blacked out for me? I want to cancel my cable but still watch the Reds. Is this a stupid thing to do?

It'll be blacked out, yeah. It's not stupid though since you can get around it with proxies; just be prepared to have certain times where it's a pain to find one that works.

Speaking of MLB.tv, someone needs to start the MLB.tv group subscription thread. 20 dollars for every game I'd ever want to watch is amazing.

I've been desperately looking for anything baseball at my local newsagency and because of this bought Baseball Digest today. This was a huge mistake. A magazine written by 80-year-olds talking about the importance of wins isn't exactly what I was looking for. I know print is dead but are there any good magazines about baseball?

I've seen it mentioned in a few threads that x commentator is poo poo (most recently Tim McCarver in the N/V thread), so i was wondering how MLB commentating is organised. Is it all done by Fox personnel, or does each team have its own dedicated commentators? Are there any that are particularly worth watching or any that should be avoided if possible?

Each team does have their own local commentators, usually a tv team and a radio team. National broadcast games get separate broadcasters by network, that's where McCarver and Buck and company come in (they all suck). There are some solid teams put there, but most local crews are pretty much homers. Also: Vin Sully with the Dodgers owns bones.

All 30 teams have their own TV, radio, and in most cases Spanish broadcasting crew. When they're on a national broadcast, the TV crew gets the day off and Fox/ESPN/TBS/whoever brings in their own television and broadcasting crew for the game. They universally suck. It is easier to make exceptions for ones that aren't bad than to point out the good ones. Usually at least one of the TV or radio teams doesn't blow for each team. Sometimes they blow really hard though! Vin Scully is the best. $14.99 get MLB At Bat Listen To Vin While Falling Asleep Erry'Day.

The only radio blackouts happen in the World Series (though local markets can keep their feed) and internet radio feeds have to be blacked out during a game in favor of MLB's internet radio feeds.
