I need some recommendations on story arcs/graphic novels that involve heavy government interaction/conspiracy or political dialog. By interaction I'm referring to anything where a law enforcement agency is not rogue as it tries to vilify superheroes. I initially came looking for Batman/Superman arcs, but other things are welcome as well. As far as "similar to" lists go: Something along the lines of Preacher/Transmetropolitan/Watchmen, without the (absurdness?) of The Invisibles or the dragging of 100 Bullets. It's almost impossible to find a Batman or Superman where it's not a rogue agent's fault and no luck yet. I've had my eye on Lucifer for political commentary but I wanna finish Sandman first, I stopped reading a few years ago.

RevKrule posted:^^^ While not totally fitting the bill, you may want to check out Rick Remender's "Last Days of American Crime." It deals with the government creating a device that will stop people from being able to do anything considered illegal and a small group planning to do one last heist before the device kicks in. Government is more of an invisible motivator in the story but it might be about what you're looking for. Wasn't quite what I was looking for, but it was enjoyable. I finished The Sandman minus the last three issues of The Waking. Now on to Lucifer, Y the Last Man, and The Nightly News. Jack Napier fucked around with this message at May 6, 2011 around 20:26 |
