Graveyard is "closing."

Graveyard via Facebook posted:

Dark clouds above the graveyard today.

Due to the all so classic reason "differences within the band" the Graveyard is as of today officially closed. This is the unfortunate final decision we've had to make after going through a period of struggling n juggling with personal issues. Things have gone out of hand and now our energy is very low. As a direct result of this we're sorry to say that all scheduled touring is cancelled.

Graveyard have always been more about the music than the talking and that approach is the way we intend to deal with this situation also. What we can say is that we don't know if and when the Graveyard will re-open and return in full force.

Stay tuned, stay awesome & No endless night in sight.

“We need to have a few more boot camps in between now and when we’re going to try to record in March. We don’t even know who we’re putting it out with or how we’re going to fund that or whatever. But I do know once we have a finished product, a lot of people are going to buy that up. It’s just a matter of working it out. We have a lot of really, really good tunes. We’re just trying to get to the point where we’re comfortable recording that.

So we have that deadline. And I don’t want Sleep and High On Fire to both have albums coming out at the same time, so I’m going to be recording with High On Fire right after that. We’ll get the Sleep album out and do a little tour with Sleep when that pops up, and then get the High On Fire record out and do extensive touring with High On Fire.

It’s hard to schedule all that poo poo because you inevitably run into some red tape or some bullshit that slows things down a bit. I’m trying to do a lot and I think I’m doing a good job of making all that happen and the guys I’m playing with are doing a good job of making it happen. There just has to be an open line of communication when it comes to scheduling.

I want to finish the Sleep one in March and then finish the High On Fire one in June. That way they can be staggered as far as when they come out. We’ve got bills to pay on both sides and families to feed on both sides, so I’ve got to make sure everybody is operable and working. It’s kind of a difficult thing, but whatever. It’s kind of how my life is anyway.”

Yeah, I love Ironlung and the guitars are heavy as gently caress. Too bad that he's not in the new lineup, they got a guy who looks a lot like him (fat, bearded).

That song is like one of those cool anthems that could be borderline silly but it's just too drat heavy to not dig. As far as redneck, who cares? Weedeater could be considered redneck and they're awesome.

Subrosa are running a kickstarter to cover $5k of unexpected costs of post production on their first music video for their song Troubled Cells, the song and video are raising awareness for LGBT suicide rates in Utah in part as a result of the Mormon church being a religion doing religion things. They're looking unlikely to make it, they don't appear to have gotten enough word out. There are 3 days left. I'd like to see it happen

I wonder why Sleep never does bigger touring? Is it just that they are too busy with other bands? Even in the article Pike said that Sleep will do a little tour and HoF will do a big one. I assume Sleep could easily headline a big tour, but maybe I'm wrong. Or they just want to keep to Om/HoF stuff for touring.

Yeah I don't get it either - I get that there's the other bands and other obligations like Matt says in the interview, but my take on the response to the two Sleep shows in NYC this summer was that there is a ton of pent up demand to see Sleep live, way more so than Om or HoF.

are acid king worth seeing? they are playing near me tonight but its a fairly hefty ticket price in relation to other acts ($50, whereas HoF or sleep are usually 65ish)

EDIT: I did also just receive my new vaporizer so it could be a good reason to go regardless.

I've only seen them once and that was before the latest album but yeah, I'd say they are. Much more than any of the more recent acts doing the same thing.
