Sapphires seem to be bugged, they don't give +mana on kill with weapons like the description says. Instead it gives the armor bonus. Kind of made getting my sorc off the ground a bit harder.

All I have to say after giving this a try for the first time is holy poo poo! After getting my rear end handed to me for the first hour getting to lev 10 I'm now multi shoting the gently caress out of anything that moves fighting 10 foot long quill rats and neon rave colored gargantuans. This game kicks rear end.

Well... Finding the purple rune to put in that runeword took a few days of running 8player hell games, so stuff is still pretty rare. Also you need to acquire the semi rare ancient scroll recipe and the dragon stones. Stuff isn't EASY to come by necessarily. There are a lot of options but the very best endgame stuff won't be available to even the best players for a while. The materials to craft the best stuff are not that abundant but you can still craft and collect pretty good gear that will get you into hell difficulty. To actually excel takes some time, so it's a pretty good balance. People still wet themselves when purple runes drop, even back when the server had been up for a long period of time. The very best runewords can't be made unless you collect a bunch of very rare crystals as well as a Null rune which is the rarest, then you combine them, then you put them into a runeword with other rare runes... so yeah.. all you have to do is peruse the database to see how extensive it is. The crafting section is ridiculous. Ah, makes sense. I just assumed while watching someone crank out multiple runes and gems with nothing but a key, a bucket and something that looks like a bird's wish bone that if you have A + B , you'll get lots of C.

Nah the things I was cranking stuff out of are called stockers, they hold all of the poo poo you collected... so obviously there is a lot of collecting that has to happen before you can do what I was doing. Each individual colored thing with a number next to it in those various stockers has dropped in the game at one time or another. You cube the item with the corresponding stocker and it... stocks it... until you cube the stocker again with a key or in the case of gems, the can opener, while the stocker is set on that item.

If you don't pay attention to the new layout that moment may come already in act 2. Anyone playing ES for the first time and going HC should make sure they know the layout changes in act 2 and 3. We also need more people on HC. I checked the ladder and it was depressingly short, I did get a couple of goodies from another amazon so thanks for that.

Once we get enough regulars we can do some ironmans and maybe you hc clowns can get some converts that way as well. I'd be up for one as soon as we can get 7 other willing players at once. Personally I've always had terrible internet and a knack for being as reckless as possible with only glass cannon builds, so HC is really not for me.

Is IdleClient working on the server? I've never used it before, and can't seem to get it to work properly. Won't connect. Figured I would ask if it's currently working before I sink more time into figuring out what's wrong.

My merc doesn't have all the equipment slots available. I followed the install info in the OP and everything else was set-up just fine. Short of clearing everything out, and re-installing, does anyone have any idea on what I should try?

Finally, something multiplayer that works over dialup! After finally installing everything, the installer asked me if I wanted to install DirectX 6.5. drat I feel old. Sorry I can't join you guys in hardcore, but all it takes is your connection lagging out at the wrong time and you're hosed.

Just want to thank Garfu and others, that maphack works perfect. Had a good game the other night with another guy at 3am, good to see more people playing again. Also there might be a way to make multires work with ES. I've got it working with a new install of ES using their files and such but can't get it working with Bolt's modified ES. Seems to need lots of hand holding and putting up with crashes either which way right now though, worse than the Glide wrapper that got posted earlier. Very much a work in progress, but future versions might support it by default which would be cool.

Hey, I've just got an account on this (KennyBlankers) and I've been playing a few game. I can't work out how to set it to think 8 players are on though, it just says unrecognized command. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong there?

Nope. You have to use the IdleClient that brahmin made. I use the old one, not the new one. http://sites.google.com/site/madbrahmin/d2es make 7 characters on an account (I'd suggest registering a 2nd account on eastern gents to do this), and then make text files with the examples they give you that contain the info for those characters. Load the frontend and it will put characters in game for you without having to run anything else. it takes a few minutes to setup but after that its really easy to do

I've been trying to make rooms this morning but it keeps hanging on the Please Wait window with cancel button. I also can't see any games in the Join list either. Everything worked fine yesterday evening though. Edit: beaten

The nice thing is downtime has implemented an auto restart if the server blows up, the bad thing is it only happens when the server actually blows up, something obviously is jut hanging and not blown up and downtime is at PAX. I have a feeling this won't be happening again once he gets back, as he'll implement some way to fix it remotely. Soo.. this will be the one time this sucks since downtime is afk for the weekend..
