Emmjay posted:Backyard Blacksmith, I have some feedback about the dicks thread. I do indeed endorse this, Emmjay just beat me to the punch. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big, hairy dude myself, I have no problem with 99% of the posts, but there's definitely some grossly huge dudes getting posted. There was another male-oriented thread a similar thing happened in, I want to say it was Boobs, but it may have been Asses or Pornstars, but there was a rash of straight-up obese women being posted, and that got stopped, as I recall. This whole thing isn't a giant deal, but I've had a few people complain to me as well, aside from Emmjay.

I don't like to be too strict there as long as people are actually contributing, while still enforcing rules.

Can I suggest probations for quoting a post in the SA Quotes thread for inclusion in the thread itself? I believe I've done this before myself but I have seen the error of my ways and wish others to be shown the light also.

If that rule goes through put me in for a probation right now and get it over with because the best quotes on the forums come from the quote thread and that's the cold hard truth.

This is true, mainly because they're using pure, refined goon set-ups. But at the same time, effectively saying "this" is old. The quotes thread is already maximum funny without "5 manbabies" or whatever, because, well, that isn't funny.

I believe I've done this before myself but I have seen the error of my ways and wish others to be shown the light also. Wasn't the original version of that thread supposed to be for... quotes. Now it's the "Post your favorite 'post' " thread, which is way worse than the original idea. So you have people posting "quotes" that consist of nothing but someone posting a picture or insults that are barely a step above "YOUR MOM". It seemed like before it was actual "quotes" that were well written posts by people who were clearly talented at writing and the quotes would stand on their own. Now it's just one liners that are rarely even funny out of context. I mean like quote:Yeah, I do keep my dick out of the glass in the bathroom.

You're quoting a post about posts about quotes that was prompted by a post quoting a post about posts about quotes and yeah basically it would be nice if we could get a blanket "don't quote posts and say 'this' in this thread" but the discussion can be nice anyways

Posting quotes from the SA Quotes thread is fine. Seriously. Some people may find it annoying, but a two page long derail on how much some people find a single post annoying is much, much worse. Personally, I'd rather that people don't complain over relatively petty poo poo and instead think about posting something interesting and/or informative somewhere else, or maybe like go outside or something.

This guy is right. Make it like this. I may actually make a rule forbidding complaining about quotes from the quote thread, unless they contribute a good quote. There have been some excellent quotes in the quote thread, especially lately, and I don't want to put a stop to that.

I haven't seen any thread but I figure it's best to ask first: Would it be OK to make a "PY music" where you can post your music? I reckon there are plenty of goons who would love to spread their music even further (me included) and having a thread where you can post your music would fit that bill.

It's not something that I get bent out of shape about, but when people quote animated gifs and say, "this syncs perfectly with this lovely song I am listening to", it seems like a low content crap post.

Maybe cut 'em some slack if they at least provide a link to the song so we can see what they're talking about.

I will not probate anyone who says that one of his songs syncs up with something. And that's odd. The probation thing you added at the bottom of your post actually took me to your rap sheet, despite you not adding a link and despite not actually being put on probation. I didn't know the system recognized those words and made it automatically link to the poster's rap sheet.

People have been using the timg tag to post retardedly big images in the various image threads. Can we start discouraging this? When it's several thousand by several thousand pixels it's annoying to have to scroll over to view the image when they could just resize it in a couple of seconds and not have to use timg tags at all.

And most browsers have a "open in new tab" option from right click, so do that.

It's not that hard click on a thumbnail to discover the image is 3000 x 2000 pixels, then click it again to open it in a new tab, then click it again to resize it, but when you have to do that multiple times every day when most of those images would have looked perfectly fine at 600 x 400 pixels (and usually aren't worth the effort of 3 clicks to view) it gets pretty annoying. It's lazy posting.

Hey Funkz, can you edit the OP of your .gif thread to include links to the various "How to gif" guides given in the thread? If you cant find them, you could probably ? PMF, and that'll cut the number of pages to sift through from 100 to, like, 30? At most 30.
