K-Flow posted:i'm listening to this asap rocky tape for the first time through right now. i like him and want him to do well but i don't really understand the hype at all. i guess cuz he's young and from new york? im also wondering when clams casino is gonna try something a little different from his default 60 bpm beats with time stretched-to-hell samples and hi hats set to double and quadruple time Clams is the highlight of that tape for me. ASAP is cool, but I think he's getting a little too much hype for his skill level (he's like a young Tupac in that respect). And as for cloud rap, Main Attrakionz is really good (808's and Dark Grapes II bangs). And iirc the Black and Brown EP is out today. I know Black Milk was streaming it on soundcloud before but it's really good. A couple songs on there sound like Madlib production, and Danny Brown is always nice.

Pill signed with MMG which, since it's associated with Rick Ross (who Gibbs has dissed), comes off as kinda fake/mainstream. Gibbs signed with Young Jeezy's label CTE which is straight USDA street. I vaguely remember an interview not too long ago where Gibbs said, in reference to Pill, something to the effect of "we cool but we ain't like friends and poo poo". "Ask Pill who the real / bet he mention this" That being said, downloading that 2 Chainz right now, I always sleep on him because I subconsciously associate it with 2 Pistols.

Anyone listen to Pac Div? Admittedly I only know them from rap blogs but they've dropped a few good tracks recently. They're dropping a 12-song, LP-length EP on the 8th and you can hear the snippets here. Oh and here's two of the songs they've dropped or something http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WsQlfW28q0 this is goofy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATlFIF1jA8g

I know about the MMG/CTE "beef" but I wasn't expecting them to start taking shots at each other anytime soon, if ever. Not that the Gibbs line counts as a "shot" or really even a comprehensible string of words, actually. ![]() As for Pac Div, I'm not a fan.

Truth be told, Pac Div is a guilty pleasure of mine. I really enjoyed their two latest mixtapes "Don't Mention It" and especially "Mania!". I mean, the former has some bomb features from Pill and Dom Kennedy. Mania really shined though, not only does it have features from Casey Veggies and Mikey Rocks, the dudes from Pac Div hold their own on tracks like Anti-Freeze, Your Fuckin' Song, and Fallin'. I didn't know they did a Big Mac commercial though, that's p weak; I wish I was able to find a working link to it, but they've all been taken down. So I figured I'd share this music video my friends just released with you guys. I met the producer (KLiL) and I got him in touch with one of my close friends who does a lot of video work. KLiL produced this track for Deuce Deuce, a really low-key electrohip-hop group out of Chicago, definitely not mainstream at all, but I'd really like to hear your guys thoughts on the video. http://goldeneaglesmedia.com/deuce-...-bitch-a-bagel/ My friends also did some pretty good video work at the Gibbs show in West Lafayette last month, if you ever get the chance to see Gibbs live, DO IT. It was at some ~~*~SUPER EXCLUSIVE~*~~ fraternity on my campus so I figured I wouldn't be able to weasel my way in, but, long story short, not only did I get in, I got to chill in the VIP room all night, get hosed up with interesting people, and meet Gibbs. Gibbs' hypeman had a bag of boxed wine on stage and was doling out drinks in people's mouths. If anybody gives a poo poo, I could probably type out a whole story but that might be too many http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLoLKSiwgpw

Gotta say I'm really enjoying the 2Chainz tape, nice guests from T.I. and Meek (even though he spits basically the same bars from Dreamchasers, it just goes anyway). The Kreayshawn feature is pretty embarrassing but apart from the tape is sweet. I like the A$AP tape as well, nice variety of beats, it's a bit emo at points but there are some bangers on there. Cold Day in Hell is... alright, there's nothing wrong with it but it just sounds like I'm listening to stuff Gibbs has done before. I was listening to it on repeat for like 5 hours when I was working on some uni stuff- which means it's nice to listen to but if it was standout I don't think I'd be able to work to it.
