Metal is imo raw garbage so rap that sounds like it is generally garbage. farmtrill was dead on, blondie has more to do with rap/hip-hop than death grips (although if the new album sounds like the linked vid w/o all that yelling crap...)

And the freshman list was culled from the freshest up-and-commers who've been around 2+ years. seriously besides that girl (which i'm sure having her is partially a dig on asap rocky and something at the other horrible white girl rappers) all those dudes been around awhile. also in general that list has meant gently caress-all to the continued promotion and success of the dudes on it so w/e.

well to use your nonsensical analogy death grips aren't in the game, they're not a player, and they are only vaguely aware there's some activity going on.

also i've not seen one actual "rap dude" bring up their album whatsoever. in the "rap game world" it might as well not have existed (hell, i heard about it from some indie rock list)

And to see your nonsensical correlation between my "nonsensical" analogy and what I was actually referring to, I can see why you may think that. I was talking about the OP in which you depicted rap as "smoking blunts with lil wayne and doing songs with waka". Just because Drake is considered in the game, does not in fact make him a rapper, dude is an actor playing the part.. And vice versa with Death Grips.. Just because some people may think of them as a rap group, does not in fact put him in the rap game.

Labeling music goes against everything music stands for, which is the overall message I was trying to relay here

every single analogy or talking point of hopsin has been said or been done to death. he might be able to rap but the fact that he is still saying things like "rap is dead and i'm its savior" like there havent been 500 different people saying that is just annoying. he can rhyme/flow i guess but his subject matter just isnt compelling at all. danny brown on the other hand is a unique character that is saying and rapping about things that are surprising/funny which is why he is worth listening to.

childish gambino suffers from the same problem i think. gambino rehashes the same (often incorrect) ideas using over-the-top punchlines that sound like he sorted through lil wayne's trash can for a couple of weeks. the fact that he pretends the only reason famous isnt famous is because he isnt a thug is also so objectively wrong its frustrating to listen to. rhyming over some beat is easy, saying something interesting isnt.

hahahaha you're retarded. danny brown shits all over hopsin (and i don't even think he's that bad). hopsin has exactly one flow, and exactly one subject he raps about, and both are stolen from eminem circa 99. that's why a lot of people don't gently caress with him who otherwise would.
