Just found out Zion I and One Be Lo (from Binary Star) are doing a show in my hometown next Saturday night. Wasn't planning on visiting but I don't know if I can pass this opportunity up...

I just had to share an interesting sample factoid I discovered this morning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9-7uLg-DZU This Looney Tunes factory music has been in my consciousness since I was a kid and still gets stuck in my head from time to time. Well, it and a lot of Looney Tunes music was composed by the same guy who did Lightworks that Dilla sampled (Raymond Scott)! Maybe someone else finds this interesting...

So Wu-Tang's (non)album Legendary Weapons leaked yesterday, thoughts? I thought it was quality, like Chamber Music but with more actual rapping and less RZA giving sermons. The beats are a pretty satisfying mix of modern and minimalistic Wu-sound. Lots of guests but none that I remember being awful, look for the Ghost/AZ/MOP track and RZA with another nice solo finishing track.

Weird Al? Just because he's parodied rap songs?

New Royce in the wild - Success is Certain. The first single was Writer's Block with Eminem, haven't listened to the album yet but Royce seems pretty popular around here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=3uxImbJC7po#t=92s Clip from a track off of Aesop's new album Skelethon. The beat bangs hard, I liked ZeroDarkThirty too, got high hopes for this CD.

Agree on Skelethon, I was surprised by how much I'm liking it. Bazooka Tooth took a while to grow on me b/c of his production but Skelethon has some of the best Aesop beats I've heard (Tetra especially). Lyrics seem more... pointed? Weighty? than his old CDs, not sure how to explain but knowing the circumstances around the Cd and Aes' personal life during that time, it's interesting to see how densely he packs all the death metaphors and imagery in with everything else. As usual with his stuff, I get lots of cool-sounding non-sequiters stuck in my head. Even the name of the disc.... his life was a "skeleton marathon" of sorts (friend, mother, marriage IIRC).
