Man i love Project Pat, he's just gangsta as gently caress. Can anyone recommend me any other artists like him?

I was an idiot drug dealer in high school and this CD, especially that song was my loving bible.

As far as other stuff, old 3-6 and HCP is a treasure trove of awesome forgotten music. I'd get into that first -

HCP - Who Run It (This whole CD was dope)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxLaO2Ku-Ts
Project Pat - Blunt to My Lips
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIW2H-wgC54
Three Six - 3-6 in the Mornin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x206j2WuJmc

Seriously though if you get the first 5 Triple Six albums they're great. They're still good, but they were just so dirty - most of their songs pretty dark and more about getting hosed up and murdering people and Satan. Growing up in TN this poo poo got so much play, I've seen them like 4 times in small clubs in tiny towns and they're cool as poo poo too.

If we're still talking about white rappers remember that episode of Chapelle's show when he did the And1 mixtape? The song in the tennis part was hot, it's Chi-rho "Art Season", check it out

This Krit album is one of the best I've heard in a while.

Same I've been wearing it out, reminds me of Aquemini a bit.

Also can I get some recommendations on some good chopped and screwed? I was playing this remix a lot yesterday: Krizz Kaliko - Misunderstood and I like it better than the original.

Saw Wiz Khalifa on Letterman last night, he looks like a young Morgan Freeman. Back to the C&S conversation I picked up Michael Watts remix of Krit Wuz Here and I love it, gonna check out some Cham and Paul Wall later.

And here have some Dipset because Cam'ron & Vado are both nice and Aarab Muzik is the new Just Blaze

I like it. Skylar Grey sounds pretty good on it and Eminem and Dre have good lines on it and the beat is sick as hell.

Whats not to like?

Skylar Grey's part sounds like Radiohead's Creep. And like the other poster said it's a lot of them blowing each other. That video was pretty cool though it reminds you how many legendary people Dre's brushed shoulders with. He's also pretty built now. Also there's so much gay product placement in that video.

Is Slime Pays the newer Cam and Vado or is it Gunz n' Butter? I'm listening through Slime Pays right now and it's pretty fire. These last couple of years have been a good time to be a Cam'ron fan the two of them have put out so much new music.

Have a track

Speaking of Timbaland, Timbaland and Magoo's first CD was one of my favorites of middle school (yeah yeah) but I never really heard anything else from Magoo. You missed out if you haven't heard this.

A couple singles, Timbaland does make pretty great beats:

How was a British rapper's track unironically described as hard?

For something more useful, I've been a big fan of Vado ever since he's made a poo poo ton of Cam'ron + him mixtapes the past couple of years. He raps about coke a lot but he's still got kind of a vintage mid/late 90's flow.

How does this thread feel about Theophilus London? He's got a new CD coming out in a couple weeks and a new song. I go back and forth on him. I liked This Charming Mixtape but you have to listen to it in full I think to appreciate it, there aren't any singles out of the whole thing. Still he's doing something different and I dig the production.

Yeah kinda back before he blew up he used to do songs with them, he even gives them a couple shout outs in his early CDs. Then him and the main guy Pacewon had a falling out, Pace recorded a couple diss tracks, afaik Em never responded and Pace got labeled as trying to ride his dick. The rest is history, still that EPs worth a listen.

Someone convince me why OFWGTKA is the future of hip hop. And how their music holds up among the hype.

I'll bite, it's a generational thing. If you're a 90's baby then it's cool as gently caress these kids being original and creative and just letting out all this hypothetical poo poo out on tracks and being crazy. If you're not then you remember when street cred and some truth was a pivotal part of rap and you can't take OF seriously beyond the gimmick that history will prove them to be. But I'm just commenting on Tyler/Earl mainly, I haven't really listened to the rest of them, Frank Ocean's good but not the kinda R&B I'd listen to on a regular basis.

I disagree, but why does SGP and ASAP Rocky (who I like, and also sounds like Bone 2012) get a pass for biting that Memphis and Houston sound? Is rap old enough now that it's become cyclical and we as listeners are supposed to be ok with rehashes of the same old poo poo. Like did the world need Wolfmother when Led Zeppelin already existed?
