Check out Big Krit, Yelawolf, Currensy, Freddie Gibbs and Jay Electronica. There is no shortage of new talented rap from the south. Here are some of my favorites:

Where should I go from here for more gangsta rap type hip hop?
Some of those aren't gangster but rather political. Anyhow check out The Roots (especially "Things Fall Apart"), Big Pun, Big L, Mos Def, Nas, AZ, Kanye's first two albums, and maybe even a little Lupe.

Edit: You may also like Gheto Boys. Scarface had a great collab with Pac called "Smile"...add Camp Lo to that list.

Rereading my posts, I feel like I came off as an ignorant dick at points. To repent, here's one of my favorite tracks someone posted in the last thread: Celph Titled & Buckwild ft R.A. - Mad Ammo

Ah, where to begin...
I definitely did not attempt to say, "Hey! Ross and Rae rap about the same poo poo so you should like them". I thought it would be obvious from what I quoted that this was a defense regarding his content. Of course he still raps about materialism but not so often to where there's nothing else to look for in his music. I use the "youtube argument" to give people a chance to listen to something they may not have heard before. If you don't have the patience to listen then I can't even begin to get my point across because in the end that's what it's going to come down to.

On that note the only subject I derailed on was an argument with the Senate about production, in which I got schooled but rightfully so. I believe I brought up what others call conscious music and asked what the thread thought about it. Don't repent about being a dick, just make sure you're right when you do so.

I'm interested in your reasoning as to how this album is "hands down" worse than Recovery and Encore.

I bought Relapse...and wanted a refund for the first time of an Em album. Him singing is just not as intriguing as his wordplay. He has some good lyrics but they don't hold any re-playability for me. Then you add on the voice problem. Recovery's production is very debatable but its content is more meaningful, and its songs have more impact than both Relapse and Encore, but it's not his best work. That title belongs to the Eminem Show or the MM LP.

Edit: The fact that he didn't even try to be creative turned me away from Relapse. And I thought that before "Not Afraid".

I do some volunteer work writing concert reviews and music articles for the local independent radio station here in St. Louis and was sent to review the Cee Lo Green concert tonight.

Hoodie Allen opened and sounded great, but the real poo poo went down halfway through Cee Lo's set.

He sends the girls in his backing band offstage and asks if we knew where he came from and what he did before his fame with Gnarls Barkley and the new album. He goes on about Atlanta and poo poo and says "Here, let me introduce you to my family" and brings out Khujo, T-Mo, and Big Gipp.

The four of them nearly tore down the house running through Cell Therapy and Soul Food. As they went off stage, Cee Lo said they'll have a new album coming out soon.

Am I the only one who didn't know they had reconciled to the point where they were going to record again?

Being from the south it hurts my heart to admit that I've never heard a Goodie Mob album...this must end so which should I go for?

Also: I suck at writing reviews apparently and could use some improvement. Any pointers?

What is the purpose of creating a label for you John Brown?

I'm just wondering because I know lots of people "who own their own label", and often times its a waste of time, money, and energy because without distribution and a great line-up it just means instead of having to build one brand as an artist you now have to build two.

Unless you have a lot of money or some really good investors starting a label from scratch with any hope of success is going to be really tough (and probably not worth your time).

Well the bulk of it comes in hopes of either having a great line-up, which we need improvement on, or putting out successful product. If we find our music in the public's ears often that equals great returns on royalties. We'd also have total ownership but the incentive again relies on how successful our music is. Just to reiterate this is further down the road...considerably. But I always wondered why many artists never revealed their label until they were signed.

On another note, looks like this video just dropped and it reminds me of the old days.
