I don't know much about what makes a rap song good or valid in the community but that Terrorist song had a clip of Jeff Dunham doing stand up in the video, which sucks. I kind of liked the song I guess. It wasn't that good in my opinion.

I saw him live a year ago and his show was great. He played gently caress You, Daddy's Lambo, Pop the Trunk, Trunk Muzik and some others I forget. He definitely can rap live just as good and fast as on his records. Trunk Muzik was the fastest live rapping I've ever heard and the crowd all loved him even though he was opening for B.O.B. who everyone actually went to see (and who ended up disappointing everyone).

So I'm seeing Lupe Fiasco live and have never listened to him. I know he did that song that ripped the melody from Modest Mouse but that's pretty much it. What stuff will he play live and what albums should I listen to? e. vv my bad! e2. Having now listened to about two albums, I truly take back my past behavior of not having listened to Lupe Fiasco. I saw him live for free a year ago right before he got famous and he wrecked that poo poo and made fans out of everyone (not many people knew him, he opened for Ludacris or someone I forget). The second half of Radioactive though is stupid lovely white R&B and idk if that's what his recent shows are all about. If I had to guess I would bet he opens the show with Radioactive or Hard White, does the song with Kid Rock in it and maybe Animal and some others from the album, and closes with mixtape stuff, probably encores Daddy's Lambo. idk Yelawolf is cool, I blame the label for Radioactive but I still like about half of it.

I've read comments about Aesop Rock that say his lyrics are meaningless and he just uses interesting words to ride the beat, and most "meaning" derived from his stuff is an afterthought. For some of his songs, or lines rather, I might agree with this a little (too tired to pull examples), but my opinion is that the majority of his abstract songs have a general theme that his imagery compliments. e. If you look up his lyrics on songmeanings.net you'll see that his weirdo lyrics result in few people figuring the same poo poo from what he says. It's just Aes. Also songmeanings.net people are mostly retarded so ymmv. If you want a completely different outlook on his words look him up on rapgenius.com, people on that site usually put more (sometimes way too loving much) thought into what rap lyrics mean, and Aesop's stuff is a can of worms for that sort of deal. I thought the beats were generic (with the only experimentation being the dubstep in the track you linked, which I hated) and the lyrics/flow sounds like Yelawolf is trying to BE Eminem (which he is now, imo, and I think he sounded better without the influence being so clear). It sounds in parts like Eminem wrote lyrics for an Eminem album, decided to throw them away just lets Yelawolf sing them instead. That's another thing, it's too sing-songey, and obviously marketed for a white audience that only enjoys mainstream hip hop. I wasn't into it. Honestly besides finding out about Danny Brown I haven't bothered to get any new rap this year cause I just listen to all of Gibbs' stuff over and over. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rz1qGjSBvGE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl98IKco-mc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdXW5MqAUME e. I must say though, what the god awful gently caress is with the guy doing the third verse in this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=em0gol5y1_s I don't know what it's called when rappers repeat the words at the end of some lines, but this guy sounds like he's trying to poo poo out a small car when he does it. It's popular in genres of all things to get your introduction from the classics. I know when I started listening to rap one of the first albums I got was 36 Chambers and Ridin' Dirty.

I think Yeezus sounds different from and not as good as Kanye's previous albums. I thought that one of the songs near the end sounded like an aborted Ratatat mix, and overall I was unimpressed with the lyrics. Present day Kanye seems lazy as hell lyrically (with some neat wordplay), and hearing the same line repeated over and over with increasing intensity or slight lyrical changes gets pretty stale after a while.

Where should I start with Scarface?

# ¿ Jun 23, 2013 22:49 |

Thanks for the Scarface recommendations, and the rad album art. Also, I think Gibbs has been pretty honest about his past in his lyrics (or at least, not ignoring it). I remember one line where he mentions his military time and says he was sent home for "blowing pine" or whatever. Maybe it's true, who cares. He talks about his life so much in his raps that I've gathered that he started smoking weed at thirteen and starting selling at like sixteen or seventeen. ALTHOUGH I'm upset with his flip-flopping on his favorite brand of blunt. In his older songs he says "bury me with swishers and at least an ounce to bounce with" and then this ESGN poo poo comes out and he's all "ten packs of backwoods bitch that's how my day go" and "my bitches don't gently caress with swishers." Come on Gibbs, why do you feel the need to be so dishonest with your fans.
