Sometimes Riff Raff doesn't even look like a real person to me. He looks like some kind of freestyle scientist from a parallel rap dimension. He is awesome, although I'm afraid I couldn't listen to any body of work of his, seems like it would be too inconsistent/unpolished. If I am wrong, I would like to be pointed in the right direction.

Also I am probably a little late to this party but Future's album is pretty sweet. It pushes autotune-rap-singing over the cliff, to the point where it should be really annoying but just sort of transcends itself and becomes quite listenable.

Can anyone more familiar with their discography recommend some of the following artists older stuff:
-Future
-2 Chainz/Tity Boi
-French Montana

As far as Future I've already listened to Astronaut Status/Codeine Astronauts.

I've always been sort of begrudgingly on the fence about Tyga but this song came on Pandora:

And while he's no Tupac or whatever this song was pretty cool, helps that there's a pretty sweet Nicki feature where she actually raps.

Riff Raff and Dirt Nasty are the once and future kings of hip hop, just admit it. also they are just as "sincere" as Lil B, people are just being upside down-reverse-double-racists because they are white. Also to the guy above me there was a Riff Raff before Lil B.

I love Lil B and all, but the fact he wrote a book that is probably bad (haven't read it, but if someone has and wants to correct me that's fine too) and gets big ups from famous rappers doesn't sell him in my book. And I don't like Riff Raff ironically, I really think these songs are the jams (second song is not really rap):

Even if you don't like him (understandable) calling him a minstrel show, implying that hes any kind of racist or whatever seems like you're doing a bit of exaggerating.

Oh you mean here:

Pretty sure you said that.

Any way I like Lil B and Riff Raff and they are both exploiting flamboyant imagery in order to further their careers. One thing I think Riff Raff has on B though is occasionally I actually wish B was a little less ramble-y; like on his Wayne feature I'll admit I think he could have capitalized on that moment a little more.

I think No Ceilings was pretty great and then Rebirth was the tipping point where he fell into the Lake of Lameness and soaked for a while. Surprisingly, although bad, I Am Not A Human or whatever was slightly better than Carter IV. Carter IV was seriously not even worth listening to twice, for me. Also the mixtape that came out right before it was laughably bad compared to any other mixtape.

So basically, nowhere to go but up. "Homies Still" isn't really a good sign.

I know I'm slightly late on the Yelawolf tip, and this is somewhat cliche but god drat dude's debut album was such a falling off point and waste of potential.

Instead of "cocaine-trunk bangers" or whatever, we got bad features and misguided production and a total slap in the face to those who wanted Trunk Muzik 2. The best songs on the album are bonus songs.

I guess the lesson learned is, don't place your faith in white rappers. They will disappoint you. Just listen to Gunplay

Ross is so much better a rapper than riff faff I can only think you're trolling. Riff raff sounds like a dude who has trouble putting basic English sentences together.

Also TKO Capone is interesting. Dude's made some stuff he admits is pandering, but he's got some actual skill. Haven't heard anything from him in awhile though

Lol dude shut the hell up. Riff Raff can rap, does rap, and his best raps are better and more interesting/charismatic than Ross' best raps. Rick Ross does do pretty well at maintaining a stable standard of mediocrity, so Riff's worst combined with his image stand out more. Rick Ross' latest album was completely unremarkable besides an OK feature here and there.

It's obvious you're not a Riff Raff fan but Just Chill, Bro.

So are there any other rappers that rap in a maniacal fashion similar to Gunplay that I should know about? On occasion Meek Mill seems to channel the same kind of insanity, though not as often, at least lately.

Chief Keef has some songs that are randomly good. He has potential to be a TRAP GOD similar to Gucci Mane if he chooses to refine his skill and what not, but it seems he will more likely go down the path of One Hit -> Controversial Statements -> Irrelevance.

To whoever said "some lovely Future song" sorry but you are wrong, that song is great. Modern Wayne is bad though and he can make comments about Ocean's gay/bisexuality but at least we don't have any photographic evidence of Ocean and another dude.

Yeah I got a nasty feeling from Rap Genius from when it reared its ugly head

and on GKMC
I think these "Money Trees," "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe," and "mAAd City" are just so insanely jamming that the rest of the songs could be freestyles for all I care. But the other songs happen to be pretty good too, I think the song that oddly misses the mark probably for me is "Good Kid," I can't quite put my finger on why either. Worrying about whether the album is a classic is silly though, is it even possible to make a "classic" hip hop album in the year 2012? It feels like it isn't.
