can't believe my comments on kreashawn being a bad rapper stemmed a conversation that long. for the record, i don't not listen to someone because of their background or who the are, i don't listen to it because they aren't good.

i showed danny brown to that mr muthafuckin exquire video the other day on twitter and he loved it so much he's been goin on and on about him. apparently they might do a track. someone earlier in the said blockhead is doing some tracks with him, is that a goon i'm guessing? if so that's awesome

I don't think anyone will argue with you from a lyrical standpoint, however sonically I think Three 6 has set more trends sonically. Mystic Stylez and Live By Yo Rep had screw tracks 7 years before the first nationally distributed S&C album, for instance. They started crunk music, although that's dead and buried at this point it ruled the charts for several years. I think Wu had far more influence on the business side, especially the inept way Paul and Juice run/ran Hypnotize Minds, but all the wannabe Wu's (White Lotus et al.) toil in obscurity while those that copied the Three 6 sound blew up.

the wu tang (rza's beats) sound pretty unique to me (possibly because they are how i got into rap) so it's hard to directly bite the style like you can with a 3 6 song, and that's not a slight against them at all, but they definitely heavily influenced the sound on a lot of rap records coming from ny

Also FRAT RAP PIONEER MC PAUL BARMAN actually had Prince Paul production on his first EP, and it's really good if you haven't heard it.

I think most people forget about him just because he hasn't done anything in a long time and was always kinda a background dude. Also fwiw I've heard he's really difficult to work with which might be another reason he doesn't get the pub he probably deserves.

yeah thats how i feel, i respect he did that but i'd rather have album with good songs. i have that paul barman ep as well, some really great beats on it. i get why not many people know him, he's never tried to be out there really, i just wish he would get more recognition when people talk about top, top producers. his beats on the new souls of mischief are really good too. never knew he was hard to work with though, that's interesting

does anyone believe in "sampling ethics" anymore? obviously we live in a time where all a person needs is their moms computer and fruity loops to be a "producer" and therefore sampling has become just as streamlined i guess you could say. i'm not critical of this, technology changes everything, but i'm just curious what people's thoughts are on it. i know there is still a lot of people who are die hard "real hip hop" types (in terms of sampling), and i was kinda like that before but if something sounds good, it sounds good, whether they sampled it from an mp3 downloaded off limewire or used vinyl with an SP

edit: one thing i will say i really look down on though is sample and drum packs. at least find your own sounds, that's half the fun anyways
