So I wake up today and try to make a call to my buisness partner and I get a automated message that my phone isn't authorized to make calls.

So I think to myself "huh, maybe I forgot to make a payment." and I hop online.

Nope, I am paid in full, but sprint.com doesn't show any phones accept my fiances phone. Weird 0_o.

Huh, after 4 months of service all three of my phones are eligible for full upgrades.

Is there any place to get a arrive super cheap?

So, I'm ditching my Pre and my wife decided to finally get a smart phone, but I don't really know much about android phones. Is there a big advantage to getting Nexus for the stock android rather then an HTC phone? If not, I think I'm getting a 3D, and she'll get a Shift. Anything else that I should be considering?

For the shift at least, there is a cyanogenmod port, so there you go for a AOSP build of android.

And the evo3d looks to be hacked now, so you can expect a cyanogenmod port soon.

What would be the easiest way to get 6 lines on sprint? I have some friends who want to join my plan, which is fine, but that would bring us to 5 lines, and in a few months I would like to get my daughter a phone.

How would I go about doing this?

The hardware on the Evo 4G has been out on phones for about a year and a half now, and while it's still plenty capable today of being a pretty good phone, you'll be using close to 4 year old hardware near the end of your contract and your phone will be lucky to get even the next OS update (ICS) let alone future updates past that.

I bet you that unofficially the evo will get at LEAST another two years of updates.

Another two years? Doubtful, by then I really doubt the single core and "low" amount of RAM in the Evo 4G will be enough to even run Android.

Gingerbread has been ported to the G1, I am pretty sure that the Evo will have ports for a while, at least past ICS.

Honestly, selling Windows Phone 7 is just frankly harder than Android. The training on it was really subpar and most salespeople don't really know why it's good or what its selling points are compared to Android. I sell the most Windows phones in my T-Mobile store, which is to say that I sell any WP7 devices.

It shouldn't be harder, especially with Mango.

"It integrated with your computer that you already have, it has Xbox live games if you are a gamer, it comes with Skydrive integration which is a free 25gigs of space for your documents, pictures and files. It has Office integration and has over 25,000apps on it's marketplace AND gets better battery life than Android."

There, I just sold a phone for you.

ExcessBLarg! posted:

Yes, you can skirt by with some out-of-date WP7 phones and lovely Android devices on $40/mo SERO. For anything that counts, it's going to be $50/mo to upgrade. Now, $50/mo is a killer price to rock an iPhone 4(S) on an unlimited data plan, even with Sprint's capacity issues in certain markets. The best most folks are doing are $65/mo for 2 GB data on AT&T, or cost-shedding family plan shenanigans. So $50/mo is definitely worth considering.

The Arrive is not outdated and has one of the best keyboards for any phone around if you want a keyboard.

Hardware only becomes outdated as the software needs more power to run properly. As it stands, everything runs perfectly on the arrives hardware.

How do you feel about full SD card encryption and basically destruction of the SD card in regards to useability with any other device. This is my one major gripe with WP7. The SD card isn't user replaceable. Well, it is, but you have to take the drat thing apart.

16gigs though for the Arrive is fine, and you CAN put the SD card into a different device if you wipe the SD card first in Linux with the DD command.

So the Evo3d is 50$ at bestbuy, and I am thinking about switching, from what I have seen the 3d is.... less than steller on it, but I do like the qhd screen and the speed of the phone.

Is it worth getting at that pricepoint? It seems like HTC said it would update the 3d to ICS, so I'm not worried about that.

Actually I have an arrive right now, and while I like it a lot, my boys phone is a incognito and I am looking to get him away from it for several reasons. I have a zuneHD for music so I'm not worried about the DAC on the 3D either.

The arrive has been great to me but dear lord microsoft needs to manage the wp7 brand better, it feels like its being managed WORSE than webos was at the beginning and that's saying quite a bit.

Edit* I mean I want to give the arrive to the boy, not to give the 3d to him.

Is it common for the Evo3d to just randomly drop the 4g signal? I updated my radios and am running the stock rom. Just... every once in a while it drops the 4g signal no matter how strong, and gives me a 4g radio on! notification. If I tap the notification it immediately finds a tower again and connects just fine, and then 10minutes to an hour later it drops again.

Rinse and repeat. Is this defective or something spring will tell me to GFY on?

Sell the E3D and buy a Galaxy Nexus at full price? It should only be about 200$ after you sell your E3D
