Given that we only have rumors of the device's specs, and what we can extrapolate from the international model, it's hard to answer that question. But we expect at least a few things:
  • The Galaxy Nexus and Evo One are the same or comparable in specs in most departments.
  • Galaxy Nexus will run stock Android, have top-notch community support, and is more likely (or at least on par) with getting official updates.
  • The One X ships with a 1800 mAh non-removable battery, the GNex with a 1750 mAh removable battery with extended battery options available. Presumably the Evo One follows the One X here.
Personally I'd go for the Galaxy Nexus. The only real reason to go with the Evo One, if those specs hold, is for aesthetics. Granted, the S4 (Evo One) might get better LTE battery life than the Omap (GNex), but not sufficiently better to put up with a non-removable, intolerably small battery.

The battery thing really isn't a big deal. 1800mAh is hardly intolerably small. The Evo shipped with a 1500mAh battery, and I've never had to touch it.

Wasn't the Sprint/HTC announcement supposed to happen today?

What do people find so ugly about the phone? I really can't see that much of a difference between it and any number of other phones that have come out in the last six months.

I just cancelled my Evo LTE pre-order with Sprint. Amazon is selling it for $50 less and they are waiving activation fees. It was a pain in the rear end dealing with Sprint, but worth doing for $85.

What do you do for support through Amazon?

Sprint still provides the support, unless I misunderstand your question. Amazon is just the reseller, similar to buying at a Best Buy.

I misread the activation fee waiver, it's only on new lines of service. Still, the phone itself is $149 at Amazon vs. $199 at Sprint.

Sweet. Now I need to determine if this message just means it's for pre-order and not yet available, or if it means I wont necessarily get a phone next Friday.

My order confirmation email had an estimated delivery date of 5/22.

The grass isn't always greener, I just did a side by side test with my Sprint Evo and my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Over 5 tests, the Evo was faster in 3g than the Nexus (though not by much). Granted, they were both pretty terrible, averaging about 350kbps

Well this sucks, just got an email from Amazon and my EVO LTE now has a shipping date of July 5. I really hope this is just Amazon covering their asses, and not the actual date I should expect to get my phone.

Well I canceled my Evo order through Amazon, after the sixth email they sent asking me to verify I still wanted it. My work phone is a Galaxy Nexus through Verizon, and there are enough things I dislike about it that I don't plan to get one for myself. My original Evo is still going strong, so I guess I'll just wait and see how things shake out.

Out of curiosity, what is it that you dislike about your VZW Galaxy Nexus? I have a friend that has it and he had problems with it too, that I did not have with my Sprint version. I believe that the VZW Galaxy Nexus is some what hamstrung by VZW's firmware update polices.

I know I said in my prevoius post that I hate having to gently caress around with roms and stuff, but all of his complaints about is phone were fixed by installing a 4.04 rom.

I'll admit that a lot of my issues are likely because of Verizon. I've definitely found that call quality and signal strength are both much worse on the GNex than pretty much any other phone I've tried (and I activate probably 20 phones a week for users at my job). It has a terrible time holding on to 4G, and then it doesn't properly switch to 3G when it needs to, making 4G unusable. Battery life I've found is pretty poor, even compared to my old Evo.

My other problems with the phone are purely subjective, but I'm one of those oddballs who prefers Sense. I really dislike the stock ICS dialer and contact manager.

I'd love to throw another ROM on here and see if that fixes things, but I can't do it because of work policies.

Out of curiosity, what does insurance do if your phone breaks and they don't make that phone anymore? My E3D is fine, but I can see myself dropping it in the toilet eventually by accident given my clumsy nature.

They give you a lovely refurb out of their stockpile of hilariously broken phones.

I bit the bullet and picked up an EVO LTE yesterday, and am so glad that I did. This phone is seriously impressive. I know everyone here is pro Galaxy Nexus, but as an owner of both there is no way I could recommend the Nexus over the EVO.

Communication has not been clear "Sprint cannot connect my number to the phone cause of some program that's. Installed in there" and "But they. Said it was modded " is all I have. I've suggested he call instead of going to a store and give them the ESN/MEID, hopefully that works. I should have just returned the phone for a bill credit.

Either he or you is going to have to put the stock rom back on it.

When I got the EvoLTE I gave my old Evo to my wife, and I was unable to get the phone transfer to work online (it's always worked fine in the past). When I called in to have them do it, none of their ## codes were working and they flagged the ESN on the phone. So I had to unroot, put a stock rom on, and take it in store to have it done.

I finally hit my breaking point with Sprints horrible network, and even shittier customer service. After being hung up on twice while trying to resolve an issue yesterday, I returned my EVO LTE and took my multiple line business to Verizon.

The real kicker is that Verizon is actually cheaper in my situation than Sprint was. I hope the two people that "helped" me yesterday are in the first round of layoffs when Sprint inevitably circles the drain.

Anyone looking for a brand new, unopened Evo 4G LTE? I've got an Otterbox Defender case to go with it as well. I'll be making an SA-Mart post on it later, but figured I'd give this thread the first heads up.

Yes. How much? Also are you open for trading (galaxy nexus) or just selling?

Based on ebay completed listings, I think $450 w/ the otterbox is a good price. I've moved to Verizon, so not interested in trades.
