Oh man I want Kotetsu to retire and live a peaceful life so bad but there's no way that can happen at this point in the show. This episode was pretty sad, though I'm surprised that they turned things around and had everything (almost) get settled so quickly. Also this show is totally going to end with Kaede being Barnaby's sidekick.

This is all setting up for Tiger's life to be a mirror of Legends. His powers are declining, he wants to be a hero, he drinks a lot, and his child is a NEXT. The difference will of course be that Tiger will eventually sit back with a smile and accept it. Or possibly regain his powers... I mean he did glow orange for at least a short time. There has to be some reason behind it. I only saw scarf-girl in the beginning flash back.

Alright, a dumb thought I had recently has been bugging me and I might as well share it. Does anyone else think that the Chinese Zodiac has some influence in this show? I know not all the of the Zodiac animals are in the show but man, it's getting close. Skyhigh has a DOG too.

I'm glad that had a happy ending, although all the scenes of Tiger drinking were really sad and depressing. Also, I honestly believed for a moment that Tiger's mom was going to die. That was a solid fakeout.

When you have a rabbit, a dragon, a tiger and an ox, it is a pretty safe bet that you are dealing with the chinese zodiac. I'm not sure if Lunatic or any of the other next villains fit in there, but the quiet scientist guy is totally the monkey. Also, it is almost eerie how much the snake traits correspond to tsunderes. Edit: No, never mind. The scientist is the monkey, the producer is the rooster, and Lunatic is the rat. The only question now is who the pig is? Legend (the obvious answer) doesn't seem to fit very well. Serious Frolicking fucked around with this message at Jul 24, 2011 around 00:50 |

Grand finale prediction: Since it looks like Kaede has a power similar to her fathers, Kotetsu is totally gonna lose his powers, but then go back home and be a dad/raise Kaede with his hero philosophy. Eight years later, Kaede is going to go to Stern Bild to continue the Tiger and Bunny tradition with an older and wiser Barnaby Brooks Jr.

It seems like both Legend's and Tiger's powers went into decline at about the same time as their kids manifested theirs. Could just be playing up their similarities, but maybe NEXT powers actually transfer from parents to children?

I'd have to assume so, otherwise it seems like there would be mention of the other heroes also have NEXT parents. Having a NEXT as a parent must significantly increase your chance of being a NEXT I suppose. It's not unreasonable to assume that there may be some correlation between a child's powers blossoming, and a parent's declining. This seemed to be the case for Legend, and now this.

Nexts can have next children, but considering that they are a fairly recent phenomenon most if not all of the current heroes probably count as first generation.

There's at least 2 exceptions to that of course Lunatic and Kaede so it'd probably the third generation since the NEXT's first appeared since we saw Mr Legend with a young Kotetsu and then the little kid in the "present" that was moving the statues about and the mayor's Baby of course was a NEXT.

Dr_Amazing posted:If the whole losing power thing is such a secret what does that say about the rest of the old heroes? Is it safe to guess most of them died in action? Could be anything. We only know that Mr Legend and Wild Tiger are losing their powers and they are the ones that have been in the hero business the longest. That we are aware of. Rock Bison has probably been around as long as Kotetsu but we don't know whats happening with him. There are way more nexts in the world than just heroes and if losings ones powers was anything other than extremely rare case then everyone would be aware of it. Edit: Higher up staff of Hero TV are probably aware of this. They would probably have early retirement clauses or something similar if this was likely to happen with other heroes that were employed.
