BexGu posted:I'm curious now that the show is over, but how well did it do in the ratings in Japan? Wasn't it a surprise hit considering the main character is a 30 year old single father and most of the cast was out of high school? It was a huge success. Tiger currently sits at #1 on popularity polls and Bunny at #3 or so.

I hope the second season (we can star making wish lists now right?) goes back to the shows earlier format and feature some one on one time with the individual heroes. I loved the show over all but my favorite parts by far were some of the vignettes each hero. Except in the last ep where it went BUDGET EXPANSION MODE, the heros seemed to lose something when they are all fighting together, and even if they are best buddies NOW, it was still nice when there was a little friendly competition. Hell, barely anyone seemed to be fighting for points aside from wanting to make the sponsors happy. It'd be pretty easy to introduce a rival that's all about taking the King of Heros name and gaming the system to do so.

Now if other producers and script writers realize you don't have to create a series about a high school-er and his 12 year old looking, 1000 year old girlfriend as they fight the scantly clad highschool aliens from the future. Or just create more stuff not based upon a already created manga or recycling a new series again.

I imagine we'll see a yaoi series version of Tiger and Bunny in no time. Or a series much like Tiger and Bunny, but with huge-tittied girls who constantly lose their clothes while their huge titties flap around, defying all physics. quote:I want Rock Bison to be the King of Heroes in Season 2 and for him to hitch up with Scarf Girl. The real danger is that someone will decide T&B was popular because of super heroes and ignore everything the recent marvel animes got wrong. In other words, more terrible, terrible adaptations of english comics.

If you're wondering about the Dragonball references that were peppered in Tiger and Bunny (The Full Nelson, Kaede's Ice Hadoken, Sky High's Sky Bomb, the Jake Games, etc), it might be a result of the main character designer, Masakazu Katsura being best buds with Akira Toryama.

Last Episode: As much as people are dissing the 1 year later timeskip (I'll admit, it was pretty badly done, but I think it was intentional.), I will give it a pass if only for the fact that it did the exact opposite of what conclusionary timeskips do. With a couple small exceptions, it showed that the characters didn't change at all in the mean-time. That's amazing, if you think about it, and just goes to show how likeable the characters are that I'm not pissed they didn't change. I have to wonder about Tiger's massive drop in power, though. He lost about a minute's worth of time for Hundred Power in the three months or so that passed through the second half of the series. And with only one minute left, you have to wonder how long he even has that. Yes, the point was to show that he didn't care about the time limit, but if they're going for a season two, I just know they're going to pull some re-powering Deus Ex Machina out of their rear end, and I'm going to hate them for it, because out of 25 years of being a nerd, I've never seen cash-ins ever handle that properly.

I know it's been said over and over, but I'm keeping my bet on the orange glow having a lot to do with his comeback. As a kid, I loved watching anime. It was so colorful and exciting and action-packed and awesome. Then I got older, and everyone was obsessed with Naruto and Inuyasha, and I assumed that I would never be able to feel that way about anime ever again. My hope of ever loving another anime died. But then I saw Tiger and Bunny, and realized that it was never actually dead; it had just passed out, and I had forgotten to check its pulse!

When it comes to Tiger being 'repowered', I don't know that they'd really have to bullshit that much to do it. After all, the only 'confirmed' hero to lose their power was Legend, who didn't even make it the full cycle as far as we know. Tiger could actually be going through an evolutionary phase, as he first guessed.

It hasn't been expanded upon since, but with Jake already having an orange glow and two powers they could use it to give Tiger a new or stronger power if they wished. They don't have to go this route if they don't want to, but it's the most likely scenario seeing as how the setup is already in place and wouldn't be stretching viewer disbelief at all.

It could still be Kotetsu's mother, too. Again, I don't think the person with magnet powers was anyone outside of the immediate family, because Kaede wasn't going to go out while she was breaking things left and right. There are plenty of reasons why either of the candidates would hide their power. That, or Kaede is capable of retaining more than one power at a time somehow, even though she wasn't able to do so later.

True. If Maverick could mess with memories using a light show he would have done so. It doesn't make much sense that he could only manipulate memories at short range, but cancel the effects over a wide area. Maverick made little balls of light with his hands, which he seemed to insert into people's heads. He did this to unconscious people, so obviously he didn't need to make them see his lights. For that matter, the length and frequency of Kaede's hundred power activations weren't ever specified.

The way Kaede invokes powers is different from all others as well. Instead of glowing she bursts into blue fire. I kinda like to think that 2nd gen Next are stronger than 1st gen ones. At least thats what I get from Kaede and Lunatic.
