I only just finished this recently after putting it off for a very long time. I watched the first episode 2/3 times over the course of a year and just never felt drawn to carry on. This time I just forced myself to watch the second episode and I'm so glad I did. Such a great series. Although I miss having Hououin Kyouma to keep my evenings interesting.

I thought that seizure was to do with the ORIGINAL John Titor changing the timeline, so Reading Steiner activated, and caused him to have a stroke. The whole thing with him being Hououin Kyouma (DEEPER SPOILERS)was basically an act - back when Mayuri's grandma died, he acted like a kids TV villian in order to bring her back to some semblance of normality, and he just...never stopped. Ten years back to the seizure, but fifteen years forward into the future for the technology. I don't remember whether the thing you said was before or after the seizures so I guess I just had a theory and felt it was pretty substantiated and was just wrong as all hell. It felt so goddamn substantiated, though!

I don't know how it was in the game. But towards the end of the anime I started to get the implication that maintaining memories from previous realities was an ability that everyone possessed, and Kyouma's was just extraordinarily strong. Nothing that requires special explanation. (though, your theory could still fit in with "everyone has a reading steiner" by explaining why Kyouma's is so strong)

So the OP for the new Steins;Gate game is out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75bR2b0o8qI Xbox360 and PS3 only for now. Nothing about it has been revealed besides it's suppose to have viewpoints from all the lab members and not just Okabe. No idea what it could be about since I thought the series ended pretty conclusively.

Shame about Itou Kanako not singing the OP. As I understand, this is the first visual novel after the first one to appear that doesn't have a terrible dating plot device? Sure, there have been some side stories in different media from the perspectives of alternative protagonists, but no actual "new" content? (Well, there was one novel depicting Kurisu, Okabe and some others getting caught by SERN and being forced to work in Switzerland headquarters on SERN time machine)

It's called "The Distant Valhalla". Short one though. I didn't remember that it also had a tie-in with Chaos;Head edit: For content, there's a fansubbed version of the new game's OP on youtube now. Dessel fucked around with this message at Feb 20, 2013 around 20:33 |

Just finished the series I didn't know how I'd like this series. I don't watch too much anime, but my friend insisted that I'd like Stein's Gate, and I did. I can't wait for the upcoming film now.

Sigh, couldn't they pull any shittier plot turn at the end of ep13 when the girl gets pushed to in front of the train. I promised myself I'd stop watching the series if that happened, and tutturuu~ there it comes. Fine.

It took me by surprise and it cemented that hopeless feeling the last couple of episodes had been working into you. That moment when she falls in front of the train, and all Okabe can do is stand there dumbstruck drove the point home to me that no matter how hard Okabe tried to change things by himself and take everything into his own hands, it all came down to one man fighting against time itself, and time dictated that the girl was going to die. It got me finishing the rest of the series in one sitting, because I really wanted to see what would happen from there. TheKingofSprings fucked around with this message at Apr 3, 2013 around 07:12 |

I just finished the show, and there's two things I don't get about the ending. Why was it part of the plan for Kyouma to fail once? I get that it showed the audience how Kurisu's death lead to WW3, but I didn't see an in-universe explanation. The second thing is, why weren't there three Kyoumas? Kyouma A was there normally, like we saw in the first episode, Kyouma B goes back three weeks later and fails, Kyouma C goes back right after and succeeds. Why wasn't Kyouma B there when Kyouma C showed up?

Well as to the first question it's seeing her die by his own hands that drives him to obsess over perfecting the technology in a post apocalyptic hell future that allows travel backwards in time to exist to save her and also not have to sacrifice Mayuri. As to the second, don't think about it too hard.

Why wasn't Kyouma B there when Kyouma C showed up?[/spoiler] The way I think about it is that Kyouma A exists in the original path. Kyouma B goes back in time, fails, returns to the future. When Kyouma C goes back, he's returned to a divergent version of the original path. I think about it as Kyouma C's path overwriting Kyouma B's path. Of course, Kyouma C is the only one that recognizes that since the other Kyouma has been "deleted" in a sense. Kyouma A simply continues on to the beta world line while Kyouma C is sent to the Steins;Gate world line. That's how I try to understand it.
