Is this a members only or public range? I sympathize with public ranges not wanting Joe public mouthbreather to do 30 round magdumps into their berms, target stands, furniture and vehicles.

The 'dirt cheap' targets are probably still marked up %500. Easy money since they're probably selling tons of them.

The ranges I shoot at will not allow 'humanoid' targets ever. Nothing with a face at least. I shoot the PPC silhouette a lot, and have even been hassled for that.

Some ranges are just horrified to embrace anything combative looking, and try to maintain an image that centers on slow fire target shooting and hunting ONLY. This is normal for Canada, but places like that in the US should be burnt down. With fire. And AIDS.

It is a public range, although most of the people that go there are members of the SSAA (Sporting Shooters Association of Australia, one of the ways to get a gun licence is to be in a club). The restrictions are a combination of the shooting and hunting ONLY mindset, being run by old men most of which are good blokes but are largely benchrest shooters, the range being quite large (It is the primary shooting complex for Brisbane, I think) and finally Laws although almost every silly rule is blamed on non-existent laws.

Does anyone here own a Leupold Mark 4 1.5-5x20mm MR/T M2? I'm thinking about picking one up used to put on my 18"'AR. Good idea?

I own one. It's nice. The glass is clear and there is practically no optical distortion around the edges. The only complaint I have is that the 20mm objective means that the exit pupil can be a little tight at higher magnifications.

What is the advantage to a PRO over a PA dot for general range fuckery and 2-3 3gun matches a year? Is the dot crisper and better?

A mueller apv is heavy put good for the price and the magnification means that you will be able to spot yourself when shooting .22lr out to 100yds. Just don't use black targets as you can't see the holes but I have no issues with seeing the holes through the scope on orange, blue, red coloured targets.

I've never used one but I wouldn't want any optic that is zeroed by adjusting the mount, rather than the reticle.

Wasn't this how they worked a while back? I remember seeing some enormous Remington 22 bolt action (Rangemaster?) with a seriously light trigger and some huge tube were a scope would be except there wasn't any glass and it was adjusted by these bigass screw/knob things holding it in place.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about or am I just talking crazy again

Pros: wide field of view, simple reticule that offers basic range finding. Easy to zero. Robust, tritium post.

Cons: heavy, hard to get a clean sight picture, loses zero at the slightest dings and knocks, no back up irons. Obsolete.

In the early 90's the Elcan was the bee knees. These days, poo poo like a basic ACOG just totally blows it out of the water in every regard.

The M145s dont really have zero loss issues and I don't remember his Elcan giving him any trouble when he was using it. I will grant the mount based adjustment system isn't exactly cutting edge anymore and the fucker is heavy.

(Someone find me a cheap non-fallen off an army truck M145 so I can stick it on my FAL. Pleaaaase)

Have any of you anything to say about this scope: Nightforce 8-32 x 56 NXS

I am looking for something nice to put on the .50 bmg I have ordered. I have a temporary bushnell elite 4200 mildot thing to play around with until I can rob enough old grandmothers to afford nice glass and this nightforce seems to be awesome according to the hype. Also recommended by everyone I know who uses .50 BMG here in Sweden (= one old military sniper guy who sells them for a living now).

I like that zero stop feature since I have something similar on the bushnell.

It's a shitload of magnification, I'd go something smaller, anything above ~20x is pretty much wasted. It's also a lot of money to spend on a scope if you don't really know what you want in one in terms of features

Ok so ACOG = Unable to be exported from USA. gently caress ITAR.

I found a store in Denmark that had good prices on them, so I know where to get it at least.

But I want spuhr 20moa canted mounts. They only come for 30 and 34mm tubes.
