I've got a twitter now. Subscribe if you want more updates and random blah, I guess.![]() Bayonetta was a PS3/360 game released for Japanese audiences in October 2009 and for the rest of the world January 2010. The combat is strongly influenced by Devil May Cry, due to the game's director being Hideki Kamiya. Developed by Platinum Games (formerly Clover Studio) - best known for MadWorld, Vanquish as well as Okami, Viewiful Joe and God Hand - and published by Sega, Bayonetta is a game with plenty of video game references to be found. Bayonetta recieved a reviewer's score of 40/40 from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, a pretty rare occasion, joining the ranks of games like Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Nintendogs (what). This is going to be a 100% LP. I'll be playing the game on Normal difficulty, as though for a first time playthrough. My friend Hans is joining me for commentary, because he hasn't played the game before and therefore will be useful in pointing out the weird and wonderful moments of the game. Director commentary from Hideki Kamiya will be posted alongside the relevant updates whenever they come up, as those updates are sporadic at best. For those of you who haven't played the game before, I'd recommend that you save the director commentary videos until after finishing the Normal run, for fear of spoilers. Now that I've finished the game on Normal, I'll be playing through again with an unlockable character on the hardest difficulty, Non Stop ∞ Climax, showing the crow locations for Hard as well as NSIC. This is a 100% LP after all! And yes, I will be showing off the secret boss fight, all secret weapons and the endurance chapter so you can all stop asking about that. I'll be showing off everything in this game: collectibles, secrets and easter eggs. I won't be showing off in-game notes and documentation in video, but instead I'll post them as they come up for each update. Thread rules![]() Don't post spoilers, unless tagged. Also, this should go without saying but don't post any creepy/NSFW fanart. ![]() Videos come in two flavours - talky and non-talky. The talky version has talking over cutscenes, and the latter does not. I forgot to include a fancy dual audio thing on my videos like the other cool kids, but there's dual commentary if you download the videos. You can download the source video if you use either Opera or a user-agent switcher addon to fake being Opera. Alternatively you can grab the videos from the blip.tv RSS feed. If you download the source video you can toggle between the two audio tracks when playing in something like VLC or Media Player Classic. I have attempted to stream myself beating this mode many times, to no avail, until now! The pact sealed her fate and aligned her with the dark side forever. She bears the mark of her master in the form of butterfly wings that appear in her shadow or when she jumps. The pact granted her great powers, but came with a great toll; she must now kill Angels as a daily offering to her new master. Failing to do so breaks her pact and will send her straight to hell. Awakening in the modern world after a 500 hundred [sic] year slumber, she is not one to sit on her laurels and immediately begins her search. Wielding titanic magical powers, she rages war against the Angels of heaven in order to keep herself alive long enough to find the key to her missing past. Armed with Scarborough Fair, an enchanted set of handguns equipped to both hands and feet, she practices the "bullet arts", a combination of gunfire and melee attacks. With the aid of her consorts Rodin, a master weapon smith, and Enzo, and underground informant, Bayonetta trudges on through battle after battle. Nothing will deter her as she searches for the keys that will unlock the buried memories of her forgotten past. yoshesque: A mild-mannered librarian by day. She likes pole dancing and is on a strict diet of lollipops to keep her trim figure. Also, glasses. User0015: A potty mouth with guns and attitude. Has trouble remembering where she left her keys last, but still knows how to kill everything in the room. ![]() Enzo Enzo is an odd and talkative man with his finger on the pulse of the underground. Styling himself in the manner of the Italian mafia, he loves the finer things in life. For Enzo, everything has a price tag attached to it, even the information he supplies to Bayonetta and Rodin. Yet, oddly enough, he is more than a simple money monger looking out for his own good. As a loving husband and devoted father, he also has a family that he dearly loves and seeks to provide for. yoshesque: Anime Joe Pesci. Probably the worst dad despite what the book says. User0015: Comic relief side kick. Is quickly forgotten as the story progresses, which is exactly what he wanted anyways. ![]() Rodin Once a fearsome and highly ranked Angel, Rodin was outcast during the great angelic war centuries ago. Now that he has fallen, he has nothing but contempt for his once angelic comrades. As a master weapons smith, he holds the power to craft the most sinister and powerful weapons the world has ever known. While he has no desire to directly aid Bayonetta in her quest, he has no qualms what-so-ever in arming her to the teeth with his special creations. yoshesque: Likes penguins and girly drinks. What a pansy. User0015: A tough-as-nails fallen angel who sells merchandise to Bayonetta so he can fund his secret addiction to video games and pop culture movies. Likes to quote them often and may even realize he's in one himself. ![]() Transcribed from in-game text ![]() Affinity Servants of heaven that populate the lowest of the angelic hierarchy, a Third Sphere rung known simply as Angels. Humans with deep faith often feel these angels closest to their hearts. Descending from the heavens upon their pure white wings, it is believed that the glimmering halo atop an Affinity's head lights the path for those who have lost their way. The religious articles they equip are all tools used to further their conviction to protect the righteous and can become powerful weapons used to strike down those with sullied hearts. yoshesque: Run-of-the-mill enemies. Easy as hell to read. Boring. ![]() User0015: Cannon fodder. Bayonetta's gameplay simply shits on nearly all action games in recent memory. But yeah, the story... and the music... The only song I really enjoyed was the one that plays before the second chapter, as Enzo is narrating and Bayonetta is traveling to Europe. It's just awesome smooth jazz.

Why did the text go all Matrix? Is she 3 meters tall? Why is the worst version of Fly me to the Moon I've ever heard playing? The gameplay looks really fun though. Turning off your brain seems to be a requirement for playing, but that's not too bad.
